Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Here's something interesting in regards to the current build of the game. The video should be timestamped, if not then skip to the 27 minute mark:
Apparently Azwel is "too strong" in this build and will be changed upon the game's release. I wonder if they're talking about a Day-1 patch or a different build than the one we've been seeing?
 
But their situation is exactly the same?
DevilKazumi also looks differently than her human form and you expect her to be an actual boss, but she is just a costume with 3 unique (and OP) moves and that's it (also doesn't even have a unique super). Actually DK's situation is slightly worse as she is not even playable (not even as an alt costume for Kazumi, without additional boss moves) unlike Inferno.

Also congratulations on a 1000 pages in this thread.

Imo after seeing how Inferno is in this game i think they should have just let him as unplayable, if he was unique i would be totally fine even tho i'm not a fan of the character, and even he was mimic as well so the game will have its mimic, but he just look like a mish mashed character design with some night moves (and winpose and cie) with other mish mashed moves. Anyway i'm not mad at it just that i don't see the point of making him playable.

Thanks but honestly i'm just happy to see people talking about Soul Calibur, and i hope will still keep talking about the game and the series in 8wr and other websites forums.

Is one of the things you mean budget? Because Xrd is one of the games I'm referring to, and it's practically an indie game in terms of budget. There's also KoFXIV, which has 50 characters all made 100% from scratch and was made by a company that went bankrupt like twice.
I dont know if anyone mentioned it but does Soul charge downright cancel a CE? I had it happen a few times, the soul charge animation came in immediately after my CE beginning animation, felt broken and unfair.
SC outright halts everything.

Actually if he was a truly mish-mashed character with moves of all his "(ex-)servants" (Nightmare & Seigfried as "core" of moveset with him using only Sword as weapon + stuff from Cervantes [stances and teleports], Astaroth [grabs], Ivy [long range stuff, but visually through magic instead if whipsword]) and even some of malfested (like Groh's SC-mode exclusive moves) + his own unique CE and NightTerror moves available in SoulCharge - he would've been actually pretty exciting.

I agree with that, tho could end being potentially broken. (but still for that case they could still blance him like giving him 70-80% of lifebar instead of 100% like other characters)

Well, he may be a non-competitive character, but at least not only would he feel like a true boss (besides damage he deals), but would actually be pretty fun.

Or this. Less health, less guard gauge (also both make sense in-lore as it's sword's astral body, it does need host not without a reason), probably some moves' properties (range/speed/damage) different from from such of initial characters' = Inferno is fun and relatively balanced.
 
What about @Vergeben claiming Lizzy and Hwang would be the other 2 DLC since the last is a guest? Do we know if that is credible at all? Wishing for more female veterans but this has been on my mind.

The chances of that being true have become slimmer considering more of Vergeben's claims have been refuted. Examples:

  • Seong Mi-na would, at best, be DLC. She's in the initial roster
  • Roronoa Zoro from One Piece is a guest. Currently there's no sign of him and the guest is Geralt
  • There would be six DLC characters, with three of them being Cervantes, Zasalamel, and a female guest. Cervantes and Zasalamel are in the initial roster and there are only four DLC characters
That's the thing with leaks; even when they're not completely made up they tend have wonky info due to either misinterpretation on the leaker's part or the source has incomplete info due to the complexity of game development and it being very difficult (if not outright impossible) for someone to know what's going on everywhere. We're only a little over two weeks to release, so don't expect anything big to be leaked until then

It was actually cancer lol I remember when they first released concept art for SC5 as it's announcement. Dark times indeed. Although I have to say that most of the discussion was in the character forums IIRC. This was before discord so essentially just imagine that but on 8Way.
 
Any word if this will have cross play?
Most probably not, as all other games on PS4 don't have a cross-play... except for fortnite.
It's 100% won't be a thing at launch, but with fortnite precedent being here we can hope for it being implemented in the future.
 
That's the thing, with characters, stages and DLCs the game's budget is always a good and valid excuse, but not for the lack of a mimic. Mimics are basically almost free when it comes to budget. Every CaS character you can create by default supports every combat style in the game, so turning CaS into a mimic should take like 1 line of code. I bet Inferno model is not much different. There is no budget excuse here, they just arbitrary chosen not to add even a single mimic option at all even though it would have cost them basically nothing to do so.
SC6 doesn't really look like the most content-packed SC game to date to me any more...

Dude I’ve read a couple of pages in now and it’s forced me to throw some cold water on your negativity.

They are trying to pull the game out of a very bad place and I think they’re doing a great job!

It’s not perfect but considering what they were left with from 5 let’s not throw the sink at them for not getting EVERYTHING right.
I hate reversal edge but I’m still willing to get to grips with it because I’m obsessed with this franchise.
I think Cassandra has potential to be way more interesting than Sophitia, and I miss Setsuka.

It’s been 6 years we’re lucky to even be getting it.

Yeah not getting what you want sucks but don’t hit the team so hard, after all it’s not you doing it.

We’re all starving for this game, don’t get caught up about what you think it should taste like before you’ve actually eaten it.
