Soul Calibur 6 CaS Discussion

I personally try to keep my designs fairly simple. I can create almost every character minus one or two almost exactly the same, due to using long standing parts that have been around since like sciii. It makes them easier to draw too.

2P ideas I have:

Sophitia: Grand Dame hairstyle. The chiton with a slit skirt and a breastplate on top. Valkyrie helmet if it matches well enough. Ornate sandals with possibly matching gauntlets. Orange motif.

Mitsurugi: Haori or shirtless with hair loose and plenty of bandages. If I can disguise Kilik’s robe easily, maybe I’ll include that.

Nightmare: Shirtless, damaged look. Some kind of mask depending on if I don’t give it to Voldo. Want Siegfried’s hair to show though.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone started planning some of their CaS? I'm... Uh... Asking for a... Friend... Yeah.

I sure have!
Some of my ideas I really want to do are: Arthur, Necrid (inspired by Aswel's moveset), Algol (same reason as Necrid), Abyss, and the Bonus Characters from SC4: Ashlotte, Kamikirimusi, Scheherazade, Shura, and Angol Fear.

With the last five I want to make redesigns similar to what's been done for the cast in SC6.
To the point I've thought about how I could do character reveal trailers like the Tira one for them.
I have their voice overs that I could use and I would record my own gameplay footage...all I would need is some good art for the intro to make it feel legit.

But besides that, I have plenty of other ideas and imagine I'll have more once the game is released. :D

Been in Dragon’s Dogma to get ideas where to place their weight and height for when I do their bios and using Monster Hunter World for detailed faces rather than use the limited selection. Some of my characters will get facial hair unlike what’s provided in CaS for example...

Man, I wish SoulCalibur would adopt a custom face feature, even if it's just swapping eyes/noses/mouths around like in the Dynasty Warriors Empires games. Anything would be more advanced than what they have now. I find it bizarre that they allow you to change eyebrows, but nothing else.

Only caveat with games that allow custom faces is that--because they share the same base--the faces often have a throughline that's hard to escape, giving them an overarching sameness. So ideally they would have the custom face feature as an option alongside the dev-modeled faces.

A few of my characters should be easy enough to recreate, though I'll likely need to come up with entirely new designs for some of them.
I definitely plan on making 2P outfits for Ivy, Sophitia, Tira, Taki, and Seong Mi-Na. And I have every intention of utilizing the color schemes of their recolors, which should be fun to figure out. I really wish Raph's outfit was unisex. Some of that would look great on Ivy. If we get Hilde's SC5 2P costume, I'll most likely end up using most of that for Ivy's 2P.

So, maybe this was already noted somewhere, but I don't recall seeing it, but about the character voices, which ones are old, which ones are new, that sort of thing, It seems a lot of them are just reused from SoulCalibur V, of course, but some of them have been renamed, interestingly enough, though others still are brand new. I'm listing them below, with old voices in blue, new voices in green, and non-vocal voices in red, as well as parenthesis showing the old SoulCalibur V names, where they were changed, and then also voice credits, I guess we'll either have to find out and identify the new ones:

Male Voices
Young Villager - David Vincent
Young Knight - Kaiji Tang
Scoundrel - Sam Riegel
Cold-Hearted Assassin (Cold Assassin) - Kyle Hebert
Dependable Leader (Reliable Leader) - Travis Willingham
Chief Villain (Main Bad Guy) - Ed Cunningham
Transcendental Being (Super Human) - Richard Epcar
Veteran Knight - Kirk Thornton

Adventurous Youth
Narcissist
Wizened Warlord
Middle-Aged Wildman

Lizardman
Demihuman

Young Lady - Danielle Judovits
Taciturn Cynic (Cynical) - Ali Hillis
Serious Type (Serious) - Stephanie Sheh
Elder Sister (Reliable Leader) - Jessica Straus
Veteran Knight - Kirsten Potter
Femme Fatale - Nicole Kerrer
Transcendental Being (Super Human) - Cindy Robinson

Malicious Imp

Regarding the battle comments talk in the General Discussion forum, I found something that might put a damper on it.

Pause right as they scroll down to the last setting.

The setting is called "Public", is set to "No Restrictions". The description for the setting is "Change who can see your battle comments."

Again, it's nothing definitive, but it could suggest that the battle comments are a visual, text thing, like some have suggested. It could also just be weird wording and have something to do with sharing creations, or restricting them from hearing the audio for whatever reason. In any case, we're still without definitive proof either way. One week out. :|

Also, while the player above doesn't scroll through all of the available comments, from what is shown, I haven't seen any that match Maxi or Groh's comments from Libra of Souls.

Ah, another new discovery.

When a comment is selected, a new option appears in the bottom right lineup of buttons to "Edit Comment Color".

Whether voices are involved or not, there definitely seems to be a visual element to Battle Comments.

It would be weird if the battle comments aren’t voiced cause what if your CaS says something at the beginning of a battle but the comment says something else... or what if the CaS just doesn’t say anything and just comments appear.. and how is it going to work with lizardman voice.. So many questions. Guess we’ll find out in 6 days.

*sigh* Trivial and pointless features no one asked for or even wanted.

Well to stop the comparisons to Libra of Souls, the reason why there's text in it is because it's supposed to be dynamic and Tekken 7's story mode does the same thing.

Now for creation, idk. Maybe it's text for the main cast and voice lines for CaS. If not, go hit up Project Soul on Twitter later on about that and the camera angles, etc.

I wish someone with a copy would just check it out and clear all this up. Wouldn't even be a spoiler, just an explanation of a feature that official videos have completely failed to touch on.

I wonder if this is reflective of the content differences between 5 and 6, including new characters / upcoming DLC...

Friendly notice: i just checked BTVA for the voice actors of SCV and the male Main Bad Guy is voiced by Anthony Jenkins (also Dampierre). :)
Also, fun fact: the JP counterpart of the above mentioned voice is Taketora, also known as Akuma.

Huh didn't realize, I thought he sounded familiar

Are you saying they changed the Main Bad Guy voice or was it always this, even in SoulCalibur V? I pulled the voice actors from an old GameFAQs thread that I was involved in, which involved pegging down the voice actors based on the credits and comparing to sources, and I assumed all those were correct.
