Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Having a blast learning Groh. His guard break pressure play is quite satisfying. Pretty tropey as a character though... I have trouble dedicating to the old, classical characters since I feel I've experienced them to death by now, despite the upgraded movesets. Guess I'm a sucker for new styles.

I remember 4 was the worst specifically because it removed several slots and combined them. On top of that, it combined them in such a way that so much gear was heavily stacked into one layer, eliminating any possibility of combining armor with normal clothing for example.
Not to mention the fact that in SCIV all equipment edited your 'stats' and 'special abilities'. Wanna wear a robe? Well TOO BAD, you have shit HP now. Dumbest thing they ever did and greatly hindered using CAS for me.

SCIII still reigns supreme for CAS, which is sad considering it's 2 generations ago.

I really hope the future DLC will eventually make SCVI have more than SCV 'cause if not then I'm gonna be really...

-GI input lag. At first when I was playing against the AI, I thought there was an input lag in general. Then I quickly realized that all my other inputs were on point and seemingly instant (at least by my perception of it). For some weird reason, GI comes really late, like to the point of barely being able to pull it off. Don't know if this is an issue across the board, but I'm on the PS4. Anyone else have a similar experience please let me know, I might be crazy.
I honestly didn't think GI had input lag until you brought it up. I had noticed that numerous times I performed a GI, convinced that it WOULD deflect the attack that I could see coming, but it didn't, even though the green flash looked to go off right as their weapon struck me. I've had so many "how fucking precise do you want me to be!?" moments and I've ended up feeling like it's not worth the risk (but me being dumb still sits there spamming it in frustration after one fails).
-AI. Wow the computer really REALLY abuses RE. I try stepping on anticipation more then I get CH with a horizonal. It feels like the AI is reacting to my inputs the instant I press them. GB moves come out too slow most of the time, though I have had a tiny bit of success with that. I wish I would have recorded the AI doing that shit, it was like every other move I swear to god. And ESPECIALLY cervantez, he was the worst offender in the hands of the AI. I wanted to reserve judgement on RE until I played it, but so far I'm not a huge fan of it. It disrupts the flow of the battle, makes it take longer, and is kinda annoying TBH. I have used it, but maybe only a handful of times in a match. It's useful, but when it's abused it makes the game less fun for me.
I mostly play Arcade on Easy and haven't encountered too much Reversal Edge spam, but in the Soul Chronicle and Libra of Soul modes against tougher/boss characters I've noticed some ridiculous RE spamming. I personally like RE for the most part so it's only a minor gripe but it does get irritating. I'm not very good with reflexes and I tend to panic so I often don't side-step RE 'cause my brain can't compute that I have to fast enough.

EDIT: As for input reading, SC has always been bullshit for this. In SCVI it's no different. I have had the computer stand there, motionless whilst I'm guarding, sometimes for several seconds. Then the moment my thumb leaves the guard button, they throw an instant combo out before my character's even returned to their idle stance. I DESPISE this practice in games but I suppose intelligent AI that has human reaction times like a player is just outside of their budget and patience.

After playing a bit of Groh and Talim, I finally chose my second main: Talim! I found Groh just didn't quite feel good in my hands, whereas Talim felt great and I had fun playing as her, which is weird 'cause in SCIV I thought she was impossible to play and I hated her XD.

I need Amy so bad though T_T

After playing excessively on ps4 these couple of days, I have to say I have not encountered many atrocious or cheap CaS. The only problem is the height, but other than that most of the time the edits are funny or made with a lot of attention, a lot of them are cool. However I did much better during the beta and I attribute that to the changed apperance and voice over. I liked the voice editing in SC4, what happened to that? Since SC5 it's been weird, changing the pitch doubles the voice in a weird way. Some CaS voices are also very quiet compared to the main cast.

I also think the long rocaille skirt, or whatever it's called, should be outright removed from the game along with the cultist robe. Hideous and ridiculous.

Cultist robe maybe, but the Rocaille skirt is prime Zelda material, thank you very much.

Calling it now, center icon is the DLC menu and the bottom two slots are Lizard and Edgemaster
At this point, it's just empty space. The dlc characters are most likely the blank slots, since Inferno seems to be the only unlockable character. Remember how everyone thought the icon in the middle of SCV's character select screen would be for dlc, too?

That cheat engine size stuff would easily be solved if the game quickly checked if a CaS part were in the bounds of realistic possibility upon matchmaking or choosing the character. Also Ranked Points are saved locally in the game AGAIN, as there was an S1 rank on PC on day one.

It's almost like every SC game is Bamco's first online product.

No fighting game in history has had a DLC menu. Idk why people expect that to be a thing ever.

You're both probably right! But I'm gonna call it anyways just in case it actually happens. I don't know where character 3 would go otherwise.
