Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

He was top tier mate
Depends...
If you look at tournament results it was mid tier at most
If you look at online he was still mid at most
If you look at few 8wayrun vocal players he was superuberOP becaus they said so....
Its a pity that even scV raph was top tier according to few....

I don't plan to stay around since i don't like this series any more since they dumbed it down but just remember what you said when they will admit again they knee jerked raphael for no reason....

As i said its history repeating but 2 times its enough for me....

P.S: worst nerf is to 4A.... the ONLY antitracking move he had.

And you will discover with horror that gimmicks he used to abuse against people ignoring the matchup were BUFFED.

I thought Ivy was fine last patch. If ANYTHING, she needed a raw SE transition like Sectus said or SC 6BB could just not whiff the second hit randomly or be a natural string. Portal grab was fine. 1(B) is never discussed so idk why it needed changes.

I got faith that 2B will probably be okay. Just be worried about Grøh and Mi-Na.

I'm not gonna diss Raph but the match-up is a bit of a toss up in comparison to other stance heavy characters.

I think Voldo will probably be okay. He just needs to use more than just mantis crawl which was the devs concern.

Wonder if Taki players are happy.

Raphael did exeptionally well in French (and EU for that matter) tournaments constantly taking number one spots.
i still asked for vids and i got maybe one minor tournament...
Obviously without considering pre frame data week 1 tournaments... i can see why a character with an i10 can win without framedata.

I don t want to go back on that discussion though....
As i said i don t care any more if i am right this series will die anyway if i am wrong it will go on without me. win/win.

I don't know about that, one of the top players in the leaderboards on ps4 is @Apoc Revolution with his Raphael

On PS4 yes so?
And i was top3 raph players (with other 2 being in other continents) according to "ONLINE RANK".... with the difference that i explain with data and facts my points.....and i know online doesn t mean anything expecially in a world where Mina exists.

Nope it was the EXACT same discussion we are having now... players ignoring framedata saying raph was OP... on a daily basis.
And Namco still nerfed him from mid to low and then again to trash with a knee jerk nerf from low to trash while buffing top tiers into the stars.
Raph disappeared from everywhere as you might know.....and they said they like the idea of weak characters....

I saw too many similarities with scV 1.2 patch and that is why i am giving up with this series....

But honestly, the nerfs pale in comparison (in terms of dubious, problematic changes) to the three most dominating characters (who have been OP bordering on broken) receiving significantly more buffs than nerfs for the second patch in a row.
Sorry, but this is a dumb way to evaluate the merits of a patch.

Many of the strongest characters in the game (I wouldn't say anyone is OP) are strong because of a few key moves or a few extremely effective mix-ups. Instead of just nerfing those moves/mix-ups and making the character garbage, it's a much smarter idea to nerf those moves AND buff some their weaker moves. It can make the character more fun to play while also making them more balanced.

@darkfender I know it sucks to have a character nerfed, and it sucks when you've been using the characters for ages, and Raph did get hit hard, but this butthurt seems to be a bit... Excessive?
You only seem to complain about the character you play. You always are pointing out problems with Raph. I guess everyone sees problems with characters they are intimately familiar with. Just trying to be helpful, but maybe you should learn a different character? You don't seem to like him as much.

You keep saying things like this yet you continuously return to this thread in order to get into arguments with people about what tier Raphael is in, over and over again

@darkfender Stop talking about Raphael, you know nothing about the character. Almost everything you said about him is wrong and you don't even know that iPrep is currently + on block. For someone that claims to be one of the top ranked Raphael players, that is pathetic. You would think someone with a high rank is aware of their own character's strengths. How fitting that you yourself said that online rank doesn't matter. If you want to quit this game because of some nerfs even though Raphael will likely still be a very strong character as he has answers to nearly everything, then you're a joke. Unless your character gets destroyed by nerfs, there is no excuse. Go cry somewhere else, scrub.

To everyone else, I recommend not listening to a single word he says about character gameplay.

So I learned that Ivy tech where you buffer the throw and run forward before inputting. That adds a new level of strength for me. I'm watching YinCrescent's Youtube streams to be a better 2B player as well. This patch got me worried like:
