Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I hope they really will reveal Cass at that event, I'm already sad 2B took out a returning character in Season 1.
Season 2, I'll see you soon. I hope...

On slightly irrelevant note Hwang better damn be good, I've been waiting years for this.

In other news, fuck the matchmaking system in Ranked. That is all.
Amen!
Sometimes its kind of ridiculous really.

I will be very disappointed at bamco if they'll end sc6 support after Cass, if the game sold bad i could understand but it didn't.

I still believe in season 2, but not sure anymore if it will be at Evo or after.

Well, to be perfectly fair, we don't really know how well the game has sold: Namco does not typically directly release firm figures on it's games and there's been no express disclosures or third party research as yet. There was general chatter out of Namco discussing encouragingly high first months sales and generally happy feelings with first quarter sales, but then nothing since. It's possible that the game's sales fell off precipitously after initially good first month(s) sales (this happens with many games in general).

From what little detail we did get, the game seemed to be on course to be doing better at six months (a major metric in game sales) than did SCV in that same time period, giving hopes that it would be significantly more profitable (V was a bit of a flop, relative to its immediate predecessors). But that easily could have changed: I think its probable SCVI will be more profitable than SCV, but maybe by not as wide a margin as they were hoping. It's not like it would be terribly shocking to learn that was looking to be the case: it's been pretty obvious in the last two/three months that there's only a fraction as many people playing at any given time as there were in the first six months after release.

But like you, I'm hopeful nonetheless: I think Season 2 makes a lot of sense for them, regardless. Also like you, I have no idea as to the timing--the lack of any development has left me lacking in any enthusiasm for continuing to speculate too deeply. I'm not sure whether it's more likely to see Cassie at some event over the next six weeks and then S2 at EVO, or Cassie at EVO and Season 2 at some later date, or Cassie before EVO and nothing there. One thing I am fairly sure about is that they wouldn't release both at the same time (Sytus' pet theory); it just doesn't make any sense from a marketing and messaging stand point--for reasons I've discussed at length before and won't bore with now. Of course, this is one case where I wouldn't mind being wrong: I may have to eat crow, but a double announcement would make for the single biggest day in news for the game since it was announced. It's just that I'm 99% sure they wouldn't approach it in that way.

I think you summarised not only the last pages, but humanity as a whole.

Because they're averse to the promotion of excitement and other good ideas?

it seems that a season 2 makes the most sense. In theory it will be the final major DLC for these games. I am basing this off how DBFZ and Tekken got 2 seasons and the second pass did well!

I don't see a third season for any of the games because we have no precedent and at that point maybe you should make a sequel?

but this gnawing feeling tells me that Soul Calibur is in trouble due to Cassandra being nowhere in sight and the devs not having much to say and the codenames being removed in the patch.

I really want to be wrong. Please I want to be wrong. But we've been let down so many times it's hard to hold onto hope

They weren't removed entirely. The directories and profiles got taken out in one of the later patches, yes, but the codenames are still listed in the same file that they were first discovered in.

Eh, I actually want Olcadan back instead.

Same!
Olcadan is my favorite Edgemaster-like character.

I do to. He has that comic relief side to him like Heihachi that just brightens up your day.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing Edge Master and Olcadan in the same game having some fun rivalry, would make for entertaining content for a pair of mimics.

Wasn't it mentioned in Olcadan's bio that he never lost a fight except for one which resulted in a draw? I always felt it was somewhat hinting towards edge Master himself but I may be totally wrong on that one.
regardless would totally love it especially since Olcadan was my fav mimic character as well
