Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Seems it's hot even in Japan
Japan is known for excessively hot and muggy summers.

Oh yeah, see, Okubo is there! Looks like he is just spectating though--the stir in the audience must have been just for him entering the room.
Fair enough, I thought they just perked up by mention of his name. I guess he too wants to watch top 8, which is understandable.

He also got to watch the loli fight and see Amy dominating Talim.

Is Talim really "loli"? I thought a doll/vaguely Victorian motif was implied by that term? Anyway, lots of Talim's in the tourney; it's interesting to see the different tournament dynamics in character choices in Japan again, having watched mostly U.S. tournaments so far this year.

Well "loli" as in "goth loli" / lolita fashion style, yes, that's only Amy. But "loli" as in shorthand for "lolicon" would refer to underaged girls, especially ones who have super childlike features and aren't well-developed body-wise, sooo... Talim would fit that definition, It was more of a shitpost statement than anything else. But yes, plenty of Talims, some great, some not so great, as would be expected in pools.

I'm kind of disappointed he pulled out Seong Mi-na to clench the third round, would have been a lot more special to win it with Amy, but I guess playing to win, absolute confidence, Seong Mi-na was the wiser choice, and it certainly paid off. Great match regardless. That first round where Amy got all her roses though, was fantastic. I expected to see a lot more Amys, personally, but this was the only one.

I'm ready for top 8!

I thought I saw one earlier?
The same person? They used Amy in the first round, then swapped to Seong Mi-na the same, but lost the second round too. The only Amy I'm aware of, unless I'm just blanking on it. I've been watching the whole thing, but I have taken a couple breaks when it seemed a lull, I may have missed on, it's possible, but still, I expected as many Amys as we got Talims, if there was one more that I missed if it was hours ago.

I think I'm falling in love for PGW...
It was a pretty great performance, I have to hand it to him. PlzNerfIvyZwel is still my overall favorite from the day, however. Nyanta gets honorable mention.

Poor Amy mains taking one for the team... Literally...

In all seriousness I'm not too surprised that not many people are playing as her. Even now there's still room to learn her and typically speaking I don't think a lot of people want to take the gamble on if they can actually get her roses or not, especially when there's characters who are rewarding without having to waste much time. She's not bad, but she really does come with drawbacks I think.

Also fingers crossed Okubo makes us smile, look for a cheeky wink at the camera, he has to do it, he knows we are thirsty.

That's the thing, watching Kamizono play, you can tell he's having to work way too hard, and still lose. It's kind of sad how much you have to get the roses to be competitive, and if you can't get them fast enough, it's just such an uphill struggle that it's not working. You either get them, or you lose. I like his Mi-na, too, to be sure, but I really appreciate he's trying his hardest with Amy. Looks like it's going to cost him the win, though, unless he can come back now.

Sadly, Amy's kit without the roses is useless against most of the cast.
Her raw speed doesn't balance out the fact that any mistake she makes is far more punishing than the opponent's mistakes (early on at least).
More experienced opponents are going to try and completely shut down Amy's roses too. So its just... A gamble really with Amy.

Sadly Kamizono lost. Damn. I was actually really expecting a Mina comeback!

Kamizono was robbed, I demand justice #NerfVoldo
