Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

But Hilde's broken SCIV moves are still in SCV and she is no longer broken.
'Cause the properties changed. It's those small things that aren't easily recognized. Hilde's second charge B may have the same animation but it's still a very different move than how it was in SCIV.

Lol that was my point. The moves are the exact same but the properties are different. Sorry if I'm preaching to the choir haha .

Who said Viola wasn't broken lol, I mained Viola when the game came out, when they released the 2nd patch where they killed movement and broke Viola I stopped playing SCV.

I allways thought Viola was broken, even before the patch, but it was a fun kind of broken, the fact that you could made an unsafe move safe was broken, but she didn't had like super broken dmg or stupid moves like post-patch in my opinion (44A BE being hit-confirmable... 60 dmg on B+K BE, or a standard combo finisher that built like 1 free BE meter), she was an ok character, there was no need to buff her like they did.

But I think even if they didn't buffed her she would still be one of the most hated characters of SCV, she was broken because of her mechanics, she was not a SC character. The way they should balance her if they decide to include her on SCVI is through GI, I allways thought that it was stupid that even when you managed to GI the orb Viola wasn't knocked back, that was bad, the fact that you couldn't do that made her a character so frustrating and annoying to play against, it felt like there was not much counterplay you could do to her infinite spam. But she was very fun to use though :P .

Setting aside the specific character, just gonna state the obvious in that what we've seen of SCVI gameplay looks like an infinite for any character will be impossible as is. For that matter, Siegfried's the only one they've shown with combo length that's close to where characters could do in SCV[or some in SCIV], that only being as a result of his Dark Legacy mechanic that was briefly mentioned outside of his trailer. That could change as more of the roster and their unique mechanics are revealed. On that note, really wondering what they'll be doing for any other returning characters.

I low key kind of want Grøh's Papi to be on Night Terror's level if he is the final boss.

If he or anyone's on that level as the final boss, that would be great, albeit a bit annoying. Night Terror as a hidden boss in some random mode could be cool. Kinda miss that fight.

Also, even though Seiggys combo length can be similar to SCV the damage scaling in VI works very different. Saying that to say some other characters like Cervy, Cass or Taki might have lengthy combos too but the damage scaling will help to .ake it balanced and (most likely) NOT 40% of your health.

I think the combos are still going to be very damaging and long, specially during Soul Charge, Mitsurugi is not a combo character and still you can see in this video in minute 7:20 how he takes 1/2 hp from Nightmare in SC mode just with a few moves, wait to see what the actual combo characters will do.

Hilde in SCV was just super awkward to play with the removal of being able to hold down A or B but also input those buttons via other mappings. This neutered a ton of pressure she had and made gameplay against her very predictable.

If you remember, most Hilde players mapped A and B to shoulder buttons on their pads and basically just held them down and used them as charges-in-waiting while using the normal face buttons for other A or B attacks.

The loss of always having charges on deck and the inclusion of just guard dropped her from top tier in SCIV to “Wow, I’m surprised someone made top 8 with her” tier in SCV.

I wish she hadn’t been able to ring people out with charge moves, that would have been fair, but even then her BnB off a level 3 B was like ~110 damage wasn’t it? Still harsh.

Man I want to play some ‘Calibur now.

When Hilde returns to SC I hope they keep her uniqueness from SCIV and the functionality of SCV, keeping her as top tier but not have her be annoying to play against.

SCIV Hilde was mostly predictable too, it's just that there, missing only one cue either meant ring out or 75% damage combo.

Tbh Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Friday is keeing my hype meter from going overboard on a possible Soulcalibur reveal this week. All my attention is on Lara, but trust and believe that if I get Taki and Lara within 24 hours of eachother, I'll be so shook I'll have brain trauma
