Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

As much as I'd love to see a true barbarian lady, with all the muscles that implies, I know Project Soul would probably only make her a bit more muscular than the other women in the game, if at all. We'd get a Sports Illustrated model in a leopard skin bikini with maybe a couple bits of metal here and there.

I suppose that is probably why they aren't bothering with a heavy female.
They COULD opt for a different kind of heavy female. Like not heavy by appearance or body type but rather by playstyle and such. If Ashlotte returned, she could work like that. Slow, command throws, heavy damage. Of course i'd still want her to have her own moveset this time.

The reason why I would like to see Rock is more for consistency and completeness since they are going back to the events of the original SoulCalibur for the Dreamcast. It's similar to how Capcom added Dee Jay and T.Hawk to Super Street Fighter IV even though they weren't really popular characters but instead because they were in Street Fighter II.

Another reason why I want to see Rock is the lack of "big man" with Astaroth being the only one. I would like to see another grappler or big man added to the game. He also uses a different weapon type which is a warhammer instead of an axe.

Lastly, if Rock is to be added, we could be seeing a completely revamped character. Rather than dwelling on his failure as a It's also similar to how I would like to see Li Long in the future: revamped with a three-section staff instead of using nunchucks.

Rather than dwelling on his failure as a character in the past, think about the possibilities that Namco could do with him in the future. Seong Mi-na is made to be different from Kilik, so I don't see why they can't do the same for Rock. Although he is a "returning" character, my hope is to see a revamped character that feels fresh and new. It's also similar to how I would like to see Li Long in the future: revamped with a three-section staff instead of using nunchucks.
Wasn't Li Long already revamped with dual nunchakus? I've never played him, but from the videos of Soul Calibur 3 Arcade Edition, Li Long seems like a completely different character.

I've been gifted this image from a new leaker who's from Namco South Africa.

Prepare yourself for a whole lot of Rock in the the game.

Wasn’t he just as bad as Raph anyways which was part of the stress sweat?

Admittedly he was a cool concept but needs a major revamp. Same as Raph but the latter won’t have his gimmick most likely should he appear.

Isn't that just because Maxi's what they wanted Li Long to be? He is the only character who was fully replaced from Soul Edge to SC1 after all.

Doesn't really count in this regard. The gameplay from the original Soul Edge is vastly different from it's sequels and when Li Long did finally appear he got double nunchucks making him no clone of Maxi what so ever. Li Long's only overlap with Maxi is that both use nunchucks and lore wise Li Long gave him lessions.

You know how it goes; same weapon, must be a clone of the original.
Never forget that the majority don't really play every single character, and even if they did they would never invest deeply enough to see all the little differences that make them different.

Yeah the trend in this narrative is alarming.

...suddenly Li Long looks like way less of a joke character pick

Li Long always had the potential for greatness with those double nunchucks and that stern aura which makes him a badass in his own right.

Also someone did some amazing artwork of him with double nunchucks, I just hope Project Soul gives Li Long another chance. He was my main in Soul Edge, I would love to main him once again.

Like many characters who moved from Soul Edge to Soul Calibur, moves lists were destroyed and rebuilt from the ground up, many of the original moves the clones had (Mina, Hwang, Rock etc) did not exist in the arcade version and were only added (or re added) in the home console or the later revisions.

Maxi, Taki and Cervantes saw large reimagined styles, with special mention to Cervantes as he is the only one that I know of that got to keep things like Geo De Ray and his Command throw (and a special win pose). Ironically, Cervantes sees a metric ton of changes between iterations. SC4 and SC5 show some radically different takes on the character.

Lol all this talk about Rock. Some people just don't want him because I think people want sexy Bangoo on his ending.

That out of the way...

Wouldn't mind for him to come back. Rock is a good character and is one of my favorites. He is a good father to Bangoo, is a kind man and he does have potential to be something more like the rest of the arguable 'filler' characters.

That out of the way I do understand that some people will be angry that more popular characters like Cassandra (who is my favorite lady) and Tira don't make it in the base game, but he makes it in the game instead.

Rck/Tal/Liz/???
DLC: Raph, Setsuka, Tira, Guest

Looking like what I'm predicting realistically.

Hwa/Mit/Ger/Tak/Mna
Liz/Rap/Tal/Tra/???

Is more of what I hope for.

Alternately Cassie gets the bigger sword the Lizzies use and they're based off of her instead of Sophie.

Just hope whatever extra mode we have makes up for the sorta disappointing lack of later game favorites.

Well, I hope that Rock is in SCVI. He was my favourite character in Soul Calibur 3, (I skipped SCIV). I just like the fantasy barbarian trope, and his costumes with animal motif. He also has an interesting story with being an orphan and adopting of Bangoo.

Rock should also use a war hammer with a Soul Calibur exaggerated size, I mean it fits the era of 1500's.

Or this Robert Baratheon war hammer from Game of thrones
