Any Musicians on here ?

I play guitar well enough, rhythm or melody. A little keyboard and trumpet.

Have you tried LMMS (Linux Multi Media Studio)? It's free and available for Windows, Mac or Linux. I use it on my Ubuntu system. I've only used LMMS since it's free but it promotes itself as being just as comprehensive as FL studio. If you feel like trying LMMS I'd be curious to see how it compares to FL. I haven't used anything else besides garageband, as i have become so used to the way FL works. But I may check this out, I don't like the way FL renders things sometimes, so I'll hit u up if i decide to download it. tanx for the heads up, free stuff is always nice.

I play drums and a little guitar. I started playing drums when I was 8 (now 19) but wasnt consistently playing. there were probably about 3 years that i didnt really play drums much. I play pretty much only metal, or rather thats the only style that i feel really comfortable playing. im not very versatile to be honest. I play in a band called Ocularis. Check us out.

My parents managed to land me piano lessons when I was 10, and being the lazy hermit I am, I virtually stopped playing altogether after I passed my abrsm 8th grade sometime around 2007/2008. I picked it up again late 2010 when I started studying music at university, and I consider that one of the best decisions of my life.

I used to learn the piano, until I stopped.

I'm more of a "Percussion" player. Give me some bongos, and I'll play them in a heartbeat.

Yes I do. Unfortunately it took me a little later to realize that.

It requires a lot more skill on the piano than it does with bongos anyways. All you need is a good sense of rhythm for the bongos.
I couldn't resist being trivial. Just like I can't resist thinking of Matthew McConaughey's naked stoned ass when I think of bongo's. But I love tribal rhythms and somebody's got to do it.

Alto saxophone, Bass guitar, Flute, Basic keyboard, Bongos, Basic Banjo, Decent Singer, Clarinet, And digital music :) Next conquest is Violin :D

I just came across this. I showed it to my guitar instructor. Like with me, it was inspirational but at the same time kind of depressing. Depressing because most people spend a life time of working hard and still can't do this:

All guarantees that she has spent more time playing than anyone you know.
He's got forty years on guitar. If he played only a few minutes a day it would still add up to more than this girl's lived on this earth. There are a lot of celebrated guitarists (Dimebag, Morello, Slash, Vaughan, Clapton etc...) that prolly look at this video and her age and just shake their head. Sometimes, there are prodigies.

I'm going to look for a guitar forum. :)

Well, I don't mean him haha. Some people can hit those 10,000 hours pretty fast. Not saying she is there, but once you get good "enough" these things kind of come to you, especially in music. I understand your point too, but she's probably been playing since she could move her hands. It also helps to have very musical parents.

Also, you can spend less time on something but if you are focused or have a very good teacher that time can be spent more effectively... but I also expect your instructor to be pretty damn good with 40 years!

there are several things that get me about this vid and comments.

1. I can't really hear what this person is playing so it mostly sounds like random stuff. yeah you can spread your hands all over a guitar neck but if nothing sensible is coming out then is that still considered a talent. not saying that this person really did just play random stuff, just saying that's what it sounds like.

2. look at some other guitarist. not just famous ones. I have a person who's channel i subscribed to on youtube. they gotta be like 16 and they are really good as well. i doubt that's the best 13 year old girl guitarist. that's just the name of the video.

heck. look up a lot of japanese guitarist. (not being racist, just an observation) I see a lot of really good music potential in them in any instrument. guitar is just the most popular.
