Learning Maxi . .what that hell. .

2A is lovely of course, and i use it heavily. He has the best 2A in the game period but 2A alone can't save u sometimes.
I don't use 3A+K at all unless i'm trying to RO, and even then....

the is a really good time to use that 3A+K is when there is ring out. 3A+K is towards the bottom of my list of moves that i use. i dont do it that often unless i know for sure that i will get away with it. other than that its pretty risky and not exactly safe. has bad frames at the end to i believe. like hotnikkelz said, going for ring out is oppurtune time for that one

anyone discover something hits if someone techs to maxi's left? I usually go for 66b+k but that'll completely whiff is they tech the other direction.

Same options when 2A is blocked i suppose but slower recovery = go defensive

2A is better at interrupting no doubt, but 3K is your fastest mid. You'll come across a character than punishes heavily with TJ attacks, so it's wise to mix all your options.

Tech left after what? different knockdowns give way different possibilities

he has HORRIBLE frames at the end lol. For a lot of that nature i expect it to be at least somewhat safe :) anyway hotrod, check the maxi vid thread, there's some interesting maxi stuff in there.

there is one move of his imparticular that seems people spam me on. i dont know the notations but i can describe it (i think)........voldo is laying face down on the ground flat. then he does this worm dance type move that if i get caught in it, they will usually get about 8 hits in or so. there are very few moves with maxi that will hit him on the ground. i try the 236A, that will hit him but he can just continue to lay there and then i get punished. i have the A+Bg, A gets him, but it seems all they have to do is lay there and keep spamming that "worm" move.....help me if you can

1st off a "good" voldo player wouldnt rely too heavily on that stance of his bc if blocked it's punishable. u should watch what they do in that stance. the attacks r either mid or low and after three consecutive attacks in that stance and there is a pause where u'll see voldo squirm a lil bit attack while he's in that animation. unless he does the swim like move, he's backstroking. that's only 3 mids, and it ends with him grounded, head twrds u facing up. just go to pract mode and have the computer use those moves so can get used to seeing the animations. hope this helped a bit

LI = Left Inner. Chucks are tucked under left arm
LO = Left Outer. Chucks are over left shoulder
RO = Right Outer. Chucks are over right should
RC = Right Cross. Chucks under right arm with arm across chest.
BL = Behind Lower. Chucks are held behind his ass sorta.
WL = Wavering Light. Chucks are out in front of him. ( B+K in stance)

i copied that from uber1337's earlier post. everything else from the silencer thread applies. i think this would cover the additional maxi stuff. was just kidding bout the newbie thing. i love you like a fat kid loves cake.

yeah that thread is pretty good. im working on making one myself. hopefully at least one person will be impressed!! but im somewhat computer retarded so in need a lot of help. anyone know of a good editing program thats REALLY user friendly and not to complicated!

yeah that worked out great. voldo is just so confusing for me. guess thats why he's top tier. appreciate it man, that worked awesome

I think A+Bg works in most cases though it doesn't have the range of 66B+K. It goes further than you'd think though. It's one of my favorite moves to nail downed opponents with.
 
Fighting maxi

So yea im on soul calibur playing ranked matches and, i fight this maxi player..... 1 word "ANNOYING". The fight was like 3min long and im a setsuka player so usually i have no problem but, this guy was good he was all over me. The first round i could not touch him, i tried keeping my distance, i tried punishing him, etc. I then started blocking which was a bad idea because i nearly got critical finished so i backed off and, waited for my chance to bb, or aa. Luckily using that tactic i did win.... But i dont want to fight like that, it makes me look like i suck.

So how do you fight maxi up close and personal?
