Maxi General Q&A

Thank you for the wealth of info guys. Much appreciated. I have one question, how fast are his stance cancels relatively speaking.
eg AAG on hit/block, how punishable is it in general? Grossly punishable? or BB punishable? Reason I ask, is because of his autoGI should delay some characters punishments, so he can get away with some unsafe stuff.
 
in the vid of Kayane interviewing tago-san (during the Tira fight) Maxi sits there and does PSL3 at the end of a round http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rtq6RXQdQ88&feature=player_embedded@2:15. So unless they took it out since then (which I hope to god they didnt) its in there somewhere.

It's not in the TGS build for sure, or the command is VERY obscure haha
So yeah I think they took it out in TGS build for one reason or another. I'm sure it will be back tho.

Really faster, like AA seems safe. We couldnt test it further tho. And you're right, his autoGI will help him a lot.
 
To me so far so good. Just make 236B knockdown and give him a fast low poke
with a little RANGE, knockdown on ch and go into stance.

Hopefully LI Bg finds its way in along with SC2 66Ag.

ahh i thought so. From vids I've seen ALL his basic strings seem to cancel like WAY faster so that one doesn't have to commit to loops per se. Stuff like BB maybe useless to go into LO, but if BBG is safe-ish, it becomes less useless as he has the autoGI and it cancels faster. This is all good news to me. That autoGI is going to be very important for Maxi as he usually has ways to deal with high attacks from stance.

I'm really bummed about the lost of old BL B. I'm also bummed that 3A isn't an improved version of SC4 Bl A.

Does LO still naturally shift to RC? How does standalone BL B -> LO feel as a loop shift? still laggy?
 
AA safe on block? That's hard to believe. To my knowledge, AA has never been safe in any of the previous SC games. It would be kinda nice to have a reason to use it instead of just punishing though.

I think the new 3A could have its uses. After a blocked LI K, maybe, or catching them as they try to step away from a wall or ring edge. A fast, horizontal mid that ends in his strongest stance and (probably) guarantees a big combo on CH shouldn't be ignored.
 
With knockdown it really is a valuable move for me against asta, kilik and ivy. That with new 66B will help me close mid range distance after a whiff and when I anticipate a long 1A low.
 
AA doesn't need to be safe, just on the same level as earlier SCs.
I was just gonna ask why does everyone like this 236B? all it had was range. It was sooo linear. Why do we need it when we have 66B and 11B?
 
In SC2, 236B was a REALLY good whiff punisher. It also had some wakeup trickery and I believe was safe on block if you G-canceled the stance shift.
 
It won't be able to compare with 66B for whiff punishment and damage now it seems. Wakeup trickery doesn't compare ;) It wasn't quite safe on block, but good enough I suppose, not that it matters if you're punishing whiffs though.
 
236B~G, 3B did at least 25%, if not more. You also had the option to skip the follow-up and go for oki, which was kinda neat. I'm also fairly sure it was safe on block. The old SC2 frame data archive says it's about -5, and I don't ever recall being punished after block (even though those days are loooooong gone, so maybe I did get punished a few times and just don't remember). But it doesn't matter, really, since even if it came back it probably wouldn't be that good. Maxi may not need it, but it would be nice to have, just in case.
 
Wasn´t Maxi´s AAg on block safe in every SC except SCIV?

I also hope that his new 66K is again + on block, like old 66K used to be in all! SC´s before SCIV.. >>

Does LI B lead to LI now instead of BL? I wonder what is the bs on LI BG-> neutral now, that might be troublesome cuz LI has to go through stances to cancel :(

LI B to neutral is clearly not a good option atm.
You have to use your options from LI, loop and aGI.
 
I am looking forward to this...if they also include Lei Long as a Bonus character I can see me losing a lot of time to this game. MAXI No 1.

I really really want my damn LI cancels back. And I want all 3 options as well (LI, RO & BL...Or maybe change BL to RC). I for sure DO NOT want LI nerfed like other people post up in other maxi threads.

I am depressed now. I will just have to make my MAXI look like him in order to console myself and then whoop some azz.
 
Hotnikklez: 236Bg had WAY more range than 66B and did 70 damage (236B into 3B grounded was guaranteed). It was safe enough on block to where you could do 6A+B to stop even Xianghua's 10 frame A after she blocked it, you could step all verticals after, GI or jump.

Soakrates: AA was safe in previous SCs, trust me. I whored the shit out of AAg in both SC2 and SC3. Also from what I'm seeing, single A looks a lot more viable in this game (finally!). Single A was a big part of my game in SC2 and SC3 but in SC4 Maxi's As were horrible in speed, safetly, and recovery. Gotta see if it's back to it's old status.
