Patroklos Q&A/Discussion Thread

Getting 236K blocked and eating 90+ or a ring out sucks. I agree it does supply more pressure than not because of the good damage and awesome meter it gives you. A good player knows if they let you land 236K on them, not only do they take some damage now, but they are paying forward to eat some damage in the future. Meter noms.

Do you ever drop 2B or 44B as alternative options in this situation? Wouldn't mind comparing experiencing with those.

Not sure if I've played Pyrrha too long and been spolied by 22_88BAK, but I feel like Pat has poor options when it comes to attacking after stepping.

I've only been using 33_99B because everything else feels wrong. Any ideas as to what a better option would be?

What's Pat's best sidestepping punish? I'm spoiled by Pyrrha's...

Also, what's the secret to getting extra knees to the face with 66B+G?

236B is a good sidestep punisher, 88 / 22 B would be very good if it hit mid :\

You need to spin the control stick or pad and mash a button during the throw to get the extra knees

I wouldn't suggest using an 8WR move always. Pressing 22 or 88 and holding the second press, then immediately pressing 6 and B (not 66) will take your side dash and turn it into a run, and throw out a 66B as fast as possible. I also do a lot of step into 236.

For 66B+G, just move your left hand to the analog stick and rotate as your right hand mashes inputs A/B/X/Y.

Step into neutral then another attack is good, or use the step momentum to transfer into another double press move like 66B; as I described in your thread.

To try and get max damage everytime I take my thumb off the pad and piano back and forth as quickly as possibly on A and K, meanwhile roll my thumb in circles over the directional buttons.
Punishers I use off a sidestep making something whiff are commonly: Throw(common, escapeable but that doesn't stop me from throwing for 60/65 damage if they don't break and a little if they do), BB(if it's something small), 66K, 22_88 -> neutral-> 1B, 11B, and 22_88-> Neutral ->3B. If they start ducking in fear of throws I like to do 66B personally.
I swear I didn't just read HolyForce's post on doing moves from neutral, I've been using 1B for that 60 damage for a while. :S

Normally, I'd say stepping with Patroklos is something I would do if I know for sure my opponent has a habit of leaving him or herself open for an attack after I step. Otherwise, I see no use for it. I have an obsession with doing only what is necessary in a match. I hate effort lol

I did some "soul searching" the past couple of weeks. (Ha, ha, get it?)

Patroklos is very strong. Much stronger than I previously thought he was.
The brilliance lies under the surface. Definite upper-mid.

Do not sleep on this kid...

To get extra damage from B+G throw its the mashing of buttons only that helps...

To escape extra dmg opp. wiggles dpad in diff directions...

Doing both at once doesnt help on either one... its one or the other... dont do extra work for nothing...

I [analog] stick spin, in case I get guard broken. I have a habit of going too crazy with the mashing, so random moves come out afterwards if I do that.

EDIT: Guard broken = throw broken. I don't know if that changes anything about my meaning though.

Damn.... I feel like my thumbs have used so much effort.... and got nothing accomplished....

Well I just thought it should be known since there seems to be some confusion in here on how to actually do it and how to actually escape it...

Topic.

I think my 3B had already begun when Patroklos initiated his CE. I sat back, expecting to eat it, but instead the two moves clashed and canceled each other out.

So apparently his invincibility frames end before his hitbox comes out.

There are invincibility frames? I can't say I checked, or read. Not saying there isn't, but in my experience, there is not - or not as we'd expect.

I feel like CE has X amount of start-up frames then hits really quick afterwards. I've had the same thing occur. In fact, I've even had my attacks counter-hit people's CE before. To add to that, I even CE'd immediately after Cervantes once (like we both must have did it at the same time, cuz we spoke back to back), and even tho his went first, I won the situation.

Good times.

Certain CE's have invincibility frames. If not most. They just aren't that many. This is why certain CE's will clash if performed at the same time while others will whiff each other. As Leixia, I've had a double-hit against Tira's CE when we both initiated ours right after another.

Against another character (I can't remember who), Leixia and the opponent just both performed the initial move of their CEs and whiffed each other, despite being at point-blank range.

I'm assuming that in the first example, the invincibility frames ran out while in the former, they were both invincible enough to miss each other.

Doing directions doesnt give you the extra damage.
Doing directions (rotating either d pad or analog) does give you extra damage.

In my opinion though the most consistent way of getting it is mashing all directions while mashing A, B, G, K

Interesting. Pat must have shit for invincibility frames, because I never notice 'em in situations where they'd be nice. :P
