Patroklos Q&A/Discussion Thread

B+K is Pat's go-to high crush. After any move that is -6 or less, B+K will tech crouch quick enough to beat any high in the game. I often mix up closing the gap with 66A into either B+K or step, if they mix in some horizontal mid, I start using the shield (A+B). Pat has great tools to keep the pressure on, and don't forget to mix in simply guarding and baiting an unsafe attack they try to counter you with.

As long as you're not at the edge of the ring (unless you predict a hit, of course), be sure to throw B+K into the guard of a teching opponent for that gauge damage. Incredible. Once their gauge gets red and they get panicy, time to bust out the 6BBB string and also don't be shy with 1B~BE. I don't suggest trying to actually break the guard with B+K, as they will be insanely looking for it.

Senzait is right. Pat's game is fun and solid, without being overly broken in any regard.

I'm actually extremely hyped about B+K becoming a real launcher now, considering how much I abuse it already. I suppose players will expect it more in future as a result, but hellz yes. Also the 66B, 66B+K change pleases me immensely. We got it good, this patch.

Patroklos seems to have some small buffs. B+K launches higher, 66B, 66B+K supposed to hit more often.

66B+G from 75 to 65 but most good players mash out anyway.

Not bad at all.
If you remember that combo from B+K into CE. Maybe now it'll be even easier to get...... that damage....

Does someone here play often vs good cervantes here? I think pat match up vs the pirate is the hardest ever, i simply can't win a first to 10 challenge with my sparring partner(Maxdamage, Who arrived 3rd at damagermany sc tournament saturday). The lol fact is that i can win with pyhrra, a char i started use just yesterday.
Pat can't punish a lot of times 3b, 66a and aB. So cervantes has a 87 dmg (without bars) launcher that is safe(just aa enters, but pat range is so ridicoulus he can't get it most of times). Same things happens with 66a, a pretty good anti step wich is high and can be' punished with aa, but obviously it will whiff lol. aB i think i can solve the problem, it's just a slow reaction Problem i suppose. Idk because with pyhrra i always punish with 3b, and it is just 1fr faster. And If i wrong, pyhrra bb punish it, when pat bb will whiff the 2nd hit(imho pat'bb must be fixed, 2nd hit always whiffs)
Does someone have advice?

I think consistently punishing aB is a necessity for ensuring it doesn't get abused. It's -18 on block but the block stun is short, so practising punish timings in the lab may be necessary. The inability to consistently punish Cervantes' 3B/66A etc. is pesky if they're spaced correctly, I agree. Considering the blockstun, however, them trying to use aB as an interrupt (assuming you haven't discouraged its use already) is somewhat unlikely, so you should be able to step forward and try dishing out some point blank justice.

Overall, Cervantes is definitely tough, but not for any spectacular reasons that aren't already common knowledge. Punish aB, make him scared to use it and get in there: you want that gap closed, otherwise it's uphill for Pat.

Test a B+G, G, CE realignment. Pretty much buffer 236,236 into guard but don't execute the A+B+K until you're sure 1 frame of guard occurred. Yes, easier on paper. Hah!

So yeah I been looking at Patrokolos as a secondary for a while now as I am a Raphael/Aeon main but I am sticking with my 2 mains so what do you guys recommending on learning with him, his Pro's and Con's etc. etc. ?

Pros:
Beast up close with good lows
Good step kill
Fairly good damage without using meter
Good aGI
Good ringouts with meter
Cons:
Lack of tools from long range
Punishers sometimes feel inadequate
Takes a lot of character knowledge to play correctly

Today i found that 3b crashes into voldo 2bb string, between 1st and 2nd hit. Do you know other strings crushed by 3b?

Yeah thanks for the Info guys also what about good Patrokolos video matches to matches to watch? Who's repping Patrokolos hard right now and why am I not seeing him much in tourneys etc. etc.?

The recent nerf to backstep made Pat extremely more tournament friendly. Also, a lot of people aren't understanding to just how awesome Patroklos is yet. Once a few people that understand him start reppin' him, expect to see more hop on over. Once the "infinite GI" mentality gets rolling strong, too, expect even more.

Not many Pat's in tournament worth watching.

Heres a video of the grand finals from a korean tournament a month ago though

Not even gonna finish watching that. You can tell the game was new, as so many mistakes were made on both sides. Pat's really stick out to me. ~2:23 is /facepalm the the extreme. First that Mits got hit by the 3rd attack of 6BBB, and even moreso that Pat didn't follow it up with CE for the ring out.

Fun to watch a game's players get better over time, isn't it? I bet both players are 10x as good now if they kept at it.

I'm not sure if this happens often, I should check; but I never noticed this: When the timer runs out and Pat wins, he has this insanely wicked smile on his face. Maybe all characters have some reaction? Too lazy to test (actually it's 12:33a now, going to bed for work! lol)
