Regarding FSAK

Nothing against you Mavericks but no one will convince me that there do not mean physical threats.
"P.S i'm just an online scrub but it doesn't take a tourney player to see your full of shit and excuses. you might wanna watch your little fragile ass as some might want a piece of it."
"PEACE OUTim just calling it like i see it dude and if your ever in texas again i'll make sure to stop on by. just remember there no GB Asura to save your ass lol. by the way how much do you weigh like 80 lbs or something? "

my first quote you have here is a piece of advice. there was NO PHYSICAL THREATS in the advice given, simply stating that when you fuck ppl out of money shit can happen. now the second one is in fact a response to this "Ok. Im always at tournaments might even swing by Texas soon again. Your more than welcome to approach. You and whoever else feels that way!" i had reason and right to post what i did in response to that. i'm done with this bullshit in here. i said my peace so if anyone has something they would like to say to me please PM it as i dont wanna derail the topic of SU being a cheater, liar, and a farce anymore.

Wow,
If people were worried about SC4 dying, well you all might as well put the nail in that coffin. This whole thread, regardless of what it was for originally, has just successfully made that fact closer. Guys, I know what happened in FSAK was wrong. I will not explain either side right now. What I will explain is that this thread has only hurt the community over all, more than attacking the SC4 player/players involved in the incident.

From what I remember, FSAK was a tourney where people went to because they loved the game. They loved the people that were a part of the community that supported it and to also enjoy themselves with the people of the community that loved the game just as much as them.

Now, let us realize something, yes what certain people did was wrong and I won’t deny that at all but look at all these 9 pages. All I see here is a community that loved a game, getting upset over what some players did. Do they have a right to be upset? In my mind I would say yes but look at the affect this whole thread has had? Players are “quitting” or stopping “support” to the scene. Think about this for a minute. What happens when support for a scene starts happening? From my understanding, a lot of people here wished for a SC5. Do you think that is possible when players, that should be supporting the scene, are now stopping?

People, understand something here. I do not think what happened at FSAK was right. But I do believe that the way this thread has done nothing but hurt a community that is already on the ledge. So with that in mind, I will ask all those out there who have posted into this thread, look at what this thread has done. Read all of it if needed. Then ask yourself, was this all really necessary? Could this have been handled a different way? What has been done is done and there is nothing we all can do to change that past. All we can do is make sure that it can be prevented in the future. So with that in mind, I will leave this thread and hope that everyone here take a couple of minutes to realize what has happened.

Quoted because people need to read this shit twice. Thank You Kit.

you still have a chance to be a better role model. tell them that you will not quit and that you WILL become the best player in the world to fight corruption. tell them that you've discovered your purpose in life and that you will use your force unblockable cancels to rush that shit down.

I never said that I will quit the game. Not traveling does not equal quitting. This thing that SU and Woahhzz did isn't the only reason that I said I won't travel. I am just disappointed with some people's lack of respect towards the event, its organizers, and the players. And after 5 years of traveling, I get tired of people accusing me of winning using shenanigans and what not, and not respecting the work I put into getting good at this game. I don't pick my characters because of shenanigans, I pick them because I have fun with them. The fact that they have tricky moves (Vader), or tournament legal glitches (SC3 Liz), are just bonuses for me that I would of course take advantage of because I play to win. But yet according to some people, I just rely on shenanigans and I wouldn't win without it. And no matter how much I win, and try to prove people otherwise, they always say the same shit. So what's the point of trying to prove anything. I normally brush this type of shit aside when I hear it, but after hearing it so much all the time, it makes me not want to go out and try to prove myself again. I respect everyone I play (except for Amy players jokingly), and people who I show respect to disrespect me back by telling me shit like this. People need to change their mentalities or something. I really get why STD quit the community now. Lack of respect amongst players.

The other reason that I'm not going to NEC is because my gf's birthday is during it. And she originally wanted to go, but after what she witnessed at FSAK, she doesn't want to go anymore either. This is an example of what kind of impression newcomers get when they witness shit like that going on. Since it's only $10 for me to get to NEC, I'll try to convince her to go, but I won't compete in the tournament. I'll just play casuals and do my money match with Mick. Not saying that I will go for sure, depends on how things work out.

But aside from that, 2 years. I'm predicting SC5 will come in 2 years. See you guys then.

Head hurts from lots wall of text. But, I'm slightly moved of how you all kiss and make up lol.
Anyways, I can side with people who value respect, honor, friendship, and fun.
Maybe that's why I think this community is top tier than others websites.
Or could it be that I've fallen for you guys? No homo.

Instead of telling other people to begin discussing it, why don't you start by sharing your suggestions?
cuz I already did

So ya... how do we limit cheating from happening or better yet prevent it from happening? (if preventing is even a possibility)

NEwayz I think to answer that question the tourney organizer should have trustworthy staffs watching over each station analyzing the situation and no one @ that station can start till the staff member signals them to do so.

Now itz their turn.

I think itz about time to discuss what can be done to prevent cheating from happening.

Well.. besides perhaps a careful review of Tournament rules etc.. I doubt you can ever prevent cheating from happening. Since the word 'Cheating' is too broad a term for games like this... & highly dependent on a lot of factors, circumstances and the moral standards of the individuals' involved.

People will do what they do etc.

However, I would suggest that if the community is serious about its development & growth, that the 'Higher Echelons' (...to which I define the TOs, as well as the 'In/Famous' players whos dedicated enough to travel & place consistently high in Tourneys) conduct themselves properly & set a good standard for us lowly grunts.

Because it is their actions that define the very core of this community & its integrity, which I'm pretty sure outsiders just loves to scrutinize and berate at every chance they can get.

But hey, what do I know about all this? ^_^ (...probably zilch.)

180 Posts in 2 days. But sorry guys I just jumperd from page 1 to 9.

Anyways...OOF

You mentioned these types of "shenaigans" that newcomers see and get shunned by the game.

PRAY TELL....WHY DID YOU USE YODA ON A UNDERAGE NEW PLAYERS WHOSE PARENTS WERE THER?!?!? IS THAT ANYWAY TO PROMOTE THIS GAME?!?! OR IS WINNING MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE COMMUNITY?!?!

Double Standards!!! Like Double Rainbows!!!!! Double KO?!?!?

Well I guess I'll say my 2 cents as well. (Still have to write my FSAK Props)

I know what Woahhzz and SU did was wrong and that it hurt Malek, Idle, and the community, but at the same time it is understandable what they did. This is just human behavior. Every human want to benefit themselves first, but if they can't benefit themselves, due to whatever reason they with try to help another person who they identify with. Woahhzz and SU both join the SC community in SC4, they both were online player who transition to offline, and they are both from the east coast. These two players identify with each other, and have a strong friendship/bond than that of Malek.

So I am not going to judge them, because realistically if any two friends were in the same situation they would most likely do the same thing. I mean if I had an opportunity to help Oof get a higher placing I would do whatever I could to help him.

Even if the top 3 people were different people the result would be the same. Suppose if the top 3 were SU, Dreamkiller, and Ramon. SU and Dreamkiller were tied for 1st and Ramon was 3rd no matter what. The deciding match is between Dreamkiller and Ramon. What would happen?
These 3 people are from the same area, and are all good friends, but Ramon is closer Dreamkiller, so there is a high possibility that he will do whatever to make sure Dreamkiller can get first place.

This situation you are under pressure and you’re not thinking about the negative effect it can do to the community, you are thinking about the money and your friendship.
Like Malek said friendship is a very important.

Now I am not trying to defend their actions, because wrong is wrong. But people should not condemn them so harshly, they are human, and human make mistakes. We should just learn from this and move forward. We should discusses more about what are way to prevent this or minimize the chance of this happening (Malek mention a lot of points), and try to repair damage done to the communities image.

When a bad situation occurs we must confront it and discuss openly about it. If we just present the mentality "deal with it" new player are going to be turned off by this, and will be more resistant to join our community. They’re going to think we’re bunch of assholes that take their money and say "deal with it". The community needs to understand that we can only get stronger/grow if new people are willing join it.

So this thread, even though it controversial, is a step in the right direction. Though there are thing we don't want to discuss openly, by having this discussion were are being transparent to the new player and to the community. Hopefully through time the community can be stronger.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Woahhzz: I an't made at you or think any less of you. You said your apologies to the people that matter. I hope you don't quit SC4 and will still travel. You’re a good guy, and people do make mistake, it just depend how we learn from them. I wish to play your more. Every time I play against you I have the most fun, because we are always laughing. Usually when I play anyone else it is always intense and serious. So I really hope you continue to play, beside I still have to beat you and take that title of the best Ivy :P Anyway hope we can hang out some time, also go study!

Oof: I don't say it enough, but thank you. You are my friend and have help me so much, have taught me a lot about SC, and have introduced me to a lot of cool people, and I am grateful for that. So I have a lot of respect for you, and I respect your decision if you don't want to travel for US tournaments. But now I don't think I could go to the US tourneys, and it not because I am mad at the US players, I still respect them all, they're all cool people from Ramon, Dreamkiller, SU, to Woahhzz etc. But I don't think I can go because I would feel like an asshole who ditches his friends. So far every US tournament I have travelled to you came with me, and any person I faced you help me, gave me advice and I did better. Again as Malek said friendship is a powerful strength, and I feel I do better when I have my friends around me. But I guess I can talk to you about that later.
-----------------------------

In the end everyone wants the same thing. We want a bigger scene, more competition, and more tournaments. So let use the mistake today to create a better tomorrow. Peace

Let's just say I'm very disappointed by some of you guys.
Asking for honor and respect is not retarded, it's just a choice. FG community or not.

SU : For Cannes 2011, I will make sure that all americans are in the same pool so you can kill each others before the main bracket is even up. That way, France will have better chance of winning in the end. Is that fine by you ? =)

Maybe if you got off your scrubby ass and actually traveled to the tournament, you'd know the real reason as to why I picked Yoda. Hell even if you just take the time to watch the full video of that match, you'd know why, and not assume things like some damn fool.

ok well on to the topic of "how can this debacle be avoided or fixed?"

in my opinion, we are kind of skirting around the real issue. i've seen it addressed but not completely and it is completely diluted.

if you ask me, tournaments have been "altered" in games since the beginning of tournaments. there is no way to prevent people from throwing matches to get a desirable outcome. there never will be a way to do so.

i don't think that the real issue here is throwing matches. people have it fully within their right to play as good or bad as they please. hell i played half of my FSAK matches just trying to land sophie's "infinite" on people offline. does this make me a cheater as well?

the problem is reporting fake results. had SU played woahhzz and just fucked off or self RO it would be one thing...dishonest, yes, but acceptable. reporting flat out fake results, though, is inexcusable, and in my opinion any players found to have done so should be disqualified with no debate or hesitation.

they revoke olympic medals. vanessa williams got her miss america taken away for shooting noodz for playboy. why can we not fix the FSAK results? sure the money is already dispersed...but this is an issue of integrity, honor, and a rightful title. if you ask me, every player who knowingly reported or accepted FAKE results should be removed from the final placings.

that said, i am gonna go ahead and start calling malek FSAK champion. because he is.

Man I'm REALLY out of the loop! I didn't know about this whole thing until this thread but now I'm reading that even OOF's GF knew about this shit during FSAK and I didn't??? Good lord....lol.

Shit's being blown out of proportion IMO. People are acting like 5 or more people threw their match to Woahhzz. From what I'm seeing it was just SU, and they're friends anyway so what's the difference? Play out some joke match that they already decided what the outcome was gonna be anyway, why bother? The rest of the folks Woahhzz fought he beat that ass fair and square so how can anyone but Malek complain anyway?

OOF why make a thread a MONTH later after the fact? If it really bothered you why not bring it up right away? And I do believe there was a better more discreet way to handle this. Like I said before, I didn't know about this until this very thread....however what does it change for me about FSAK personally? Absolutely nothing, I didn't throw my match to Woahhzz and 98% of the other players didn't either. I still feel the same about the results, Woahhzz was the best player that day. I got my ass kicked by him, Malek, and every player that placed above me, so IMO that one match doesn't change shit.

At the time my mind was too focused on the game and tournament at hand to really get a grasp of the full situation. It was only until after the fact that I realized the effects of what they did. And I didn't post up anything about it for a month because I figured someone else would since it was something that was discussed quite a bit through word of mouth and in the chat room. Once I seen that there were people who wanted to sweep it under the rug or keep it on the down low and pretend that it never happened, that I felt it was time to speak up about it. Because things like this happening need to be discussed openly, because like I stated before, the main reason that I made this thread wasn't to point fingers or dwell on the past, it's to bring awareness of what happened. So that lying and reporting false results are less likely to happen in the future.

This here is your problem OOF... you've already proven you're good at the game. Why do you NEED to prove anything anymore? Just as I told Woahhzz. forget about what others say about you and keep doin what you've been doin. Believe me, a lot of people here actually do respect you as a player. Maybe not all the "top player" guys, but I mean why does what they say mean any more than what the rest of us say?

People have told me that they hate losing to Talim or worse, that they shouldn't lose to Talim... disregarding how much time and effort I've spent to get as good with her as I have... Just cause losing to a low tier is beneath them or somethin. So yeah, Really I get it, I've been there. Just play and win, don't worry so much about proving anything to anyone but yourself.

If you choose to not play in the tourney at NEC then fine. But I think you should still go
