SC Controversial Topics and General Shitposting Thread

Don't remember exactly where I saw it. Pretty sure it was on either The Witcher's twitter or Namco's twitter/SC twitter

Please play this while you read the following:
No. It's just locked since nobody could be bothered to follow basic directions. We were taking shifts clearing out 30+ posts a day and instead of people taking the hint, they instead decided it'd make more sense and be even more topical to start whining that they were being treated mean.

Seems like an odd approach to me since there were like three other threads that mods barely touch (as a matter of policy mind you since we do like to be laid back and light touch in general) just for the purposes they insisted that the easy access news thread was supposed to be for. (Don't remember when the news thread was retitled idle thoughts thread... Secret ballot?)

I mean, someone thinking that Sackboy should be a guest character is cool and all and imaginary announcements that nobody who mattered ever said were coming then the resulting wailing when none of that (shock) came true are laudable discussion points in the news thread that was put there so people wouldn't have to wade through idle wishes and rampant baseless speculation to get to the actual news.
This whole thing is the result of the bizarre idea that a forum topic should be a good place to find news. It isn't, never has been, and never will be.

1. Discussions are chaos.
Forums are designed for discussion. (And in this case, the thread was titled "News, leaks and information discussion".) When lots of people are actively talking about something, they're going to be talking about a hundred things at once. This is especially true of a topic as a broad as "news, leaks and information." There's going to be information about the game's aesthetics, roster and gameplay in there. Eventually there will be news about the game's single-player. Peoples' opinions about these things are going to be all over the place and tangents are inevitable.

2. There are much better formats than forums for finding news.
The front page of 8wayrun is a GREAT place for news. If the moderators think that there's valuable information in the news thread that isn't getting to the front page, why not just pull that information out and throw it on the front page? Wouldn't that be easier than deleting 30+ posts a day (or at the very least, a similar amount of work)? Alternatively, reddit is a better format for finding actual news. New information automatically appears at the top of the page. In fact, Vergeban also posts on reddit himself. Basically, anyone who is trying to wade through a 30-page thread to find news is wasting their time. It's like eavesdropping on people discussing the news in order to get the latest news. It's not what forums are designed for.

3. Some people LIKE the chaos.
In the news thread, someone said that the community isn't here to serve the moderators. The moderators are here to serve the community. I might not have phrased it that way, but I appreciate that sentiment. I appreciate that mods are volunteering their time to make this site run and I think most are doing a great job. Forums are dying across the internet, and I think SC fans are super lucky to have this place.

Eventually, SoulCalibur VI will come out, people will start and stop actively playing it and this forum will get quiet again. Until that day comes, I vote that the mods just sit back and enjoy the craziness.

The hilarious irony of closing the News thread:
When news does finally get announced, people are probably going to post it in the "general" topic. Because that's the thread that's open and they're actually allowed to discuss the news in it. Instead of closing the news thread, the mods have, in effect, moved it to the general thread. And having one thread for EVERYTHING is exactly what the mods were trying to prevent when they closed the old 100+ page news thread.

Honestly, I used to just check in on that thread before I just decided to create an account. Sometimes random people posted new vids or information and that helped. Now I am a little confused because I go between the shitposting thread and general thread in case someone posts new gameplay or vids or info. In essence, I didn’t post on the leaks thread but as a site visitor looking for some info it was useful.

The sounds weird but does anyone know the skin tone for natsu, viola and Hilde, I just can't seem to get them right for CaS. Thanks

Even if not being able to customize Geralt officially, you're apt to see that sort of thing anyway, as it will be discovered how to use Geralt's weapons and style on a custom character, as well as his voice, and perhaps even his face/hair/body. It was done in SoulCalibur IV and SoulCalibur V (especially SoulCalibur V), no reason to believe that it won't also be done in SoulCalibur VI.
On this topic I'm really excited to see how SCVI will be friendly for modding, I hope it'll be awesome, especially on the PC. What if they even opened the Steam Workshop for it?

I bet modding is going to be just like Tekken 7 where it's not really even acknowledged by Namco, but there's a niche fanbase for some modding/reskins of characters and stages.

So who likes the soundtrack so far? I think it's pretty good and the track lifted from the Witcher 3 is super sick which is nice because I thought the Assassin's Creed track was also one of the best of 5.

That’s not SC6 music, that’s from SC4 lol

Would you say Voldo is important story-wise? I mean, for the most iirc, he's there to do something like attack the mc/player, but other than that he still seeks soul edge? But that's kinda just minor. Cause for the most part the releases we have had so far are the "important characters". So on the ''importancy scale" where would you put him, cause the important characters seem to be released earlier than say, Yoshi who doesn't really do much of anything, while like kilik and X were our second release. Wdyt?

Characters don't need to be relevant story wise to be important to the series. The story can change with every iteration, and the most minor of characters can become crucial to the story on the next title. It's the iconic state of the character that matters.

Haha forgot that vi was a reboot, and stories can change between iterations. Anyways just a bit too excited for my own good to see new characters haha.

Well Voldo has played a part in some of the characters backstories such as stealing Yoshimitsu’s katana and becoming a servant of Nightmare during SC4 and 5 but other than that, no. He’s usually just been there in the background.

I had this fucked up dream where Mina was announced, but in her trailer she was fighting off some nameless bandits and one of them broke her pole arm in half with an axe.

She then, from the bottom half, unleashed a zatoichi like Iaido strike from a hidden blade and dispatched the bandit.

This then lead to gameplay where she fought like Setsuka/A.Pat instead of her normal naginata. My dream self was then sad because this meant Setsuka wouldn’t be in, but at the same time glad because her style lived on.

Also in the dream Amy showed up in a costume that said “HEFTY” on the side of it because she’s trash and should be left on the side of the road for disposal.

What the- when will I get my Soul Calibur dream?!?!? You are all either full of BS or telling the truth! Fine, uh, I have a dream now! So, it is, um, Geralt in tutu, storymode is shit again; but it has amazing gameplay and single player content, a-and a leaked tape where Sophitia, Taki and Ivy are getting it on!

Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech!

I had s nightmare about Taki, she was revealed, but re-designed by the One Piece-makers(the nightmare occurred after the One Piece guest "leaks") and she looked like shit.
