SC5 'Ivy' Story/Possibilities/Speculation

She lost her Coiled State; only Sword and Whip state remain now. Nothing much else really. She can mix-up her moves easier in V thanks to the Soul Meter. And a few new moves. That's it really. We don't know much else.

I plan on trying to help more in Ivy's Soul Arena in SCV, Ring. I'm not too bad with her =P but half-decent at any rate :D.

OK, so apparently Ivy is a broken God tier according to Kayane who had the pleasure to play SCV :) This is what Docvizzo wrote:
To avoid Ivys CE you need to Duck BEFORE the animation starts...this is gonna be a fun game. So if Ivy has meter and the opponent not, Gi into CE should be guaranteed since you cant duck.

Sounds nice but I wouldn't be sure if CE was guaranteed after a GI. My guess is that it's gonna be "slow enough" not to fit into GI window and to be ducked on reaction (which means it will be super broken online haha)

I dont think it will be slow at all, as soon as the animation starts its over for the opponent, so 0 Frame Startup. Thats what they were talking.

EDIT: All was in french, so i could be wrong in some places, but i think i did understand everything right. Apart from that Malek was laughing a lot so it has to be :P

Kayane said you have to duck before it starts to avoid it :)

Well it´s something, but that has to change though... I don´t see it normal, incredible mix-up power when the gauge is full :S

If they do this with Ivy I don´t want to see Asty T___T

I'm not actually sure that's true, I'm sure I saw someone try to duck it but still got hit by it - how the fuck is ducking supposed to dodge it? To me it looks like a vertical attack xD

Well, it seems that the throw starts at the first frame of the animation so unless you can anticipate it there is no way to crouch under it on reaction. But again, it's all speculation right now.

But how to change it? Im not really sure. If you have time to react after the animation it will only hit if the opponent does an attack which is non-TC...dont know if its too bad then.

It could create some nice situations where the opponent has to bait a CE of Ivy with a Cancel etc...but if she builds up meter really fast it will be too much. People will be forced into really defensive situations too often, trying to avoid the throw....

Not really sure how to balance it to not make it shit...any ideas? Maybe the Ivy-gang? :P

True. But I hope it isn't crouchable because it looks like a grab that grabs anything in the immediate vicinity so if it was crouchable to me that'd be messed up.

Ring is right, we don´t know how it really works yet... but seems so heavy now... they have to check it more carefully.

Well... I´ve already ask myself that question... but I can´t find the answer xD

If is crouchable maybe is a very shitty CE, because it only will work for whiff punishment... maybe can add some invencibility... I don´t really know

PS: Double post sorry! :S

Yeah, it's kinda hard to balance it w/o making it too overpowered or crap. Espeially if it's supposed to be unbreakable. Maybe they should make it breakable but with 50/50 mixup (like a regular throw), that would make up for the lack of the second command throw. Or make it ubreakable but also act like a regular throw/CT (high, i17 or slower, it definitely can't start at frame 0, that's crazy)

Right now it look unavoidable, unless your already ducking. Here one idea, maybe make Ivy's CE blockable and it only hit on non-guarding opponents. Also TC move should be able to avoid Ivy CE. This would make opponent to block more and it give Ivy a higher chance to land a command throws. But the damage of her CE should be toned down a little.
