I would not prefer a Gypsy-dancer character. Something about some dancing entertainer somehow being the equal of other master swordsmen doesn't sit well with me. The flavor of the soul series (at least to me) was about legendary tales of the best-of-the-best warriors crossing swords. Smashing someone with tambourines doesn't have the same lethality as the other weapons of the other characters.

You can probably guess I'm not the biggest fan of lucky chloe.

I would not like an intentionally weaker "joke" character like Dan hibiki as well, but we got Dampierre and it looks like hes here to stay.

I see what you mean, and it's an understandable point of view. I personally was always a fan of that type of playstyle, while I didn't like Lucky Chole herself I absolutely love her moveset and it's a joy to watch. Maybe they shouldn't have too many of this type of character then, Dampierre and one other character seems like it should be enough.

It's funny cause the first thing I read was gypsy character and Viola with those tambourines is the first thing that came to mind. Lo and behold those damn tambourines were already posted. Genius! Damn that's a really good idea now that I think about it. Bring back Viola with that move set and I'd be fine with it.

How can you be OK with tambourines but not umbrellas? I'd put both of those as "less serious" weapons for combat. Didn't Voldo have tambourines as a joke weapon in like SC2/3?

I don't want an entire soul calibur character fighting with surfboards or a giant shish-kabob, or corn-on-the-cob nunchucks. That's ok as joke weapons.
The soul series needs some more respectability considering the damage done to its reputation as a vehicle for guest characters + excessive cleavage + button masher (for people who don't understand the series like us hardcore fans).

Should old songs return in SC6 like in SC3?

That'd be cool, but personally i'm more concerned about nostalgia costumes, i'd love to see costumes from past SC installments in SC6.

One concern I would have about so many Alexandras being in one game is the story running into a Mishima situation, where there are these designated main characters and no one else ultimately matters. One of my favorite things about the cast of SoulCalibur was how each character had their own mission, and truly felt like the main characters of their own stories, which were linked only in that they revolved around Soul Edge in some way. Some of these characters crossed paths, but they still held fast to their personal missions. In SCV, Patroklos was the designated main character for some godforsaken reason, and the rest of the cast seemed to be present only to advance his story in some way. It really robbed the game of the series' more epic, global qualities, and made it feel a lot more Eurocentric.

In short, I don't like having a playable cast made up of "supporting characters", and I feel like giving too much space to one family risks making them overly central to the game's plot, thus sidelining the rest of the cast.

I 2nd this, 3rd this ... i 'Infinity' th this. Really sad to see that in Tekken Paul became such a joke lore wise, something i really don't want to happen to Mitsu for example. Tekken lore and story wise has become such a joke, beside Mishimas all the other characters story seems just nonsens/lazy and off. Even a fanfic of a 5 years old boy would be way more entertaining and exciting than this, let's hope Soul Calibur will keep having interesting and inspiring stories and lore for its iconic characters, i mean all of the characters of the roster, not just a very few like Tekken did in its last iterations.

I want SCVI to have all new tracks because I want to see what kind of themes they'll make. But I'm all for having the old tracks available to select.

I don't know if it was ever openly said, but.... Soul Calibur V was done in only a year.
According to this video development started mid-2010, which means it had 16-20 months of development.

I looked up credits for the developers shown in the video to get an idea what's happened since SC5:
- Art director, a modeler, and lead composer went on to work on the next Smash game (released 2014).
- Lead animator left Namco after SC5.
- Lead programmer went on to work on Pokken (released 2016) including a bunch of other SC guys (like the guy who is supposed to lead the entire SC team, Hoshino).

After SC4, Namco disbanded the SC team and made them work on miscellaneous projects. It definitely looks like the same thing happened with SC5.

If SC6 has been in development for several years, that means they've been missing a lot of the guys who were pulled aside to work on Pokken, unless they were working on 2 different projects at the same time.

It's common for devs to juggle projects, so I wouldn't doubt it.

Would anyone truly be sad if only Viola and ZWEI were carried over from V?
I can understand liking Pat's style, but that seems to be the only thing most would even be sad about.

Pyrrha seems to generally be disliked and annoying, with Pyrrha Omega being the thing most people even think is worth retaining and focusing on if she did come back.
Natsu.... needs work to salvage, and I could see them do it. But if they didn't want to bother doing it.... I would not be surprised.
Xiba was pretty reviled and his shtick got tired and annoying because he was one-dimensional with the only thing that was ever explained that.... he's hungry.... and in outside info confirmed that he's Kilik's bastard son.
Leixia.... was just kind of there simply to replace her mom but more of her "cuteness" played up than they did for Xianghua.

I won't even bother talking about Elysium, and Dampierre isn't even technically from V.
I suppose my point is more that, if they "cut the fat" and kept the things that were more original yet underdeveloped (Viola and ZWEI), but dedicated the time and effort to do so, I don't forsee too much blowback from many at all aside from Pat fans more than anyone.

Zwei was my 3rd favorite character in the game surprisingly, and he also had one of the best 2P costume in the game. Viola i don't care much, but i would definitely take her over a mimic, clone or other alpha omega beta of another character.

About the other characters:

Pyrrha: She cool, but she looks a lot like cassy, and plays a lot like sophy, and if Sophy and cassie are back, which is very likely, specially Sophy, i wouldn't like to see Pyrrah. Unless they make her different enough from the 2 sisters, but then again, as someone already stated, having too many Alexandras in the game could end up being not a super great idea for some reasons.

Natsu: If they can make her more interesting, and enough different from Taki, i'm ok with her. I mean since Taki will very likely came back, her presence in the game is important imo and she's kind of iconic in the SC universe.

Xiba: If they can make him more interesting and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay different from Kilik, why not. But personally i'd rather have a fully new character with a never seen before staff in the game.

Leixia: I mean she just seemed like a younger Xiaghua, really doesn't have too much originality, and since Xiangh will probably back, don't think Lei should come back

And i'm definitely with patro being back, as i stated before, he's kind of an awesome and original character.

In the end basically, i want the roster to be just full of "uniqueness", so no clones, and if there would be a mimic, i'm fine with one, but just 'ONE'. Also all iconic and original characters should be in. Throwing out characters like Zasalamel, Talim and Setsuka is one of the worst game design ideas PS could have done with SCV, oh wait they actually did IT!!

So yeah let's hope SC6 roster would as its greatest.

Wait did you just say that Natsu is iconic? She's only appeared in one game, they didn't even bring her back in Lost Swords and she was basically a parody of herself in Project X Zone 2 (her inclusion baffling many). Oh and don't use the fact that she was used a lot in SCV online as proof that people liked her. She wasn't used a lot because she was popular with fans. They used her a lot because she was easily spammable. Just like Deadshot and Aquaman in Injustice 2.

I mean the active development on SCV. Not counting pre-planning and planning (which they'd said in interviews back then that was around the time they were figuring things out) as the actual game itself was put together in terms of actual coding and such in 12 months.
I'd get into how I know, but I don't know if they'd want me to reveal that, because I don't know if it's ok for the person involved who told me.
But passage of time would make it matter less, as I don't see why it would be that big of a deal now. So I'll ask them and see if it doesn't matter at this point anymore in putting out there. Maybe even get them to openly say it themselves.

But dude you need to calm down sometimes, just because someone can tell you that he likes Natsu you don't need to be so mad.

I personally think that Natsu is a sh**** character design in SCV and way inferior than Taki, but i except not all people would think that way and some would even like her a lot, i don't share their sentiments, but i can respect it.

Do I look angry? I was just pointing out that I don't think she's iconic or well-liked (especially because the person she replaced is one of SC's most iconic characters) because I thought it was weird to see someone say she was iconic to the series. I've had people tell me before that "People like Natsu because she's used a lot online!", even though that's not a real indication of her actual popularity when it's because she's easy and cheap to spam. Sorry if I came off as mad, I was more confused than anything else and wanted an answer.

Natsu is definitely not iconic to SC, but i think she has potential to become more interesting than she was in SCV.

I actually don't even know about that online poll, but i don't think it matters too much, especially in SCV aka game that didn't sold much, and that had a very short "strong online lifespan". (Personally after the 6 first months, i felt like Online became super empty, while at the start there were really a bunch of players online)

No pb man don't worry. ;)

And by "easily spammable" you mean having bombs that are ridiculously easy to avoid and whiff punish? Yeah, not really.

I mean spamming her teleport, bombs, and quick attacks. She's very easy to pick up and use if you have no experience.
