Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Cassie is a punisher too. Try to count her fast frames moves. Her gameplay is a bit more aggressive, but she's not so different than Sophitia
So you haven't actually played Cassandra besides very casually, have you?
Yes Cassandra has tools to punish, but this is pretty much every character- Cassandra is not a bit more aggressive than Sophitia, she is a lot more aggressive than her sister, most of her moves are fairly safe if well used, she has a lot of pushback even on basic tools like BB, her wall and RO game is much better than her sister and her guard damage was also far superior.

About design... I work as designer, and the last thing I would do is to believe that those costumes she had are made for a "tomboy warrior"...
Most of Cassandra costumes are fairly pratical when it comes down to freedom of movement with leather armor and metal embellishments not being uncommon on her designs, it has a fantasy and fanservice twist to it yes, but nevertheless a tomboy design.

Anyway I'm talking about iconic gameplay. When you saw Cassie for the first time, what did you think of her? I don't think you thought that she was more similar to Astaroth than her sister...
How come whenever someone counter argue you you deflect it by saying you're being missunderstood, I think it is quite clear what you mean, no matter how much you talk about iconic gameplay, because such concept is too vague, Hwag is a common character to be asked and he was a clone for all game he was on except for III. Hell it is hilarious how people even ignore Yoshi and Yun still shared a bunch of moves with Mitsu and X but had asthetically distinct weapons, people like you care more to appearances than to functionality.

I think its easier for people to accept a weapon or style change from a character that has already done so before. That must be why Aeon is considered wide open for this and if i'm not mistaken, i think Rock started things off with an Axe.

Again, if we are going for a dedicated grappling type in a weapons based fighter, he needs a chain, similar to Birdie. Whatever they decide to do with him, something needs to be changed in order for him to be at all enjoyable. If we can pin down the issues with him, the developers should also be able to do the same and fix those problems. I'll say IF Rock makes the roster but he is more or less just copied and pasted from SC4, that will be quite stupid.

Cassie was never anything other than sword and board and a lot of her attacks and general style do appear heavily inspired by Sophie's but i dont think that means she needs to change. Her style is still different enough and the popularity of that weapon type does pretty much excuse having a duplicate.

...but JUST one duplicate. I'll be quite put off to see Aeon return with a shield in addition to seeing two other shields. No, it doesnt matter how different he is, three shields is still too much.

I beg to differ. I'm not casual, but I'm no pro either, and I can easily spot the differences between Cassandra is Sophitia. Its easy to see what makes them different, their personalities are complete opposite, and so are their motivations. You need to force your eyes closed to not see the difference, there is no excuse for this random shitposting of his, his arguments have absolutely no truth in them.
I just said that every good beat'em'up need a grappler and that's the "golden rule". And that all you guys talk very ofter about a Cassie with different weapons, and if you think something like that, so obviously, there is something wrong with that char (and as usual, the only answer was that Cassie is not Sophitia). That's all. Call it shitposting if you want, but if I were you, I would ask myself some questions...
Anyway as someone said before this thread would be better if we talked more about characters and things we like and less about those we don't, so I stop here.

I think you're taking a vocal few and applying it to a silent majority.

I prefer Sophitia over Cassandra, always have but to change Cassandra's weapon is to step outside of the overton window as the sword and shield is a big part her character and development. The equivalent would be to give Mitsurugi a great club or Ivy nunchucks. That kind of alteration isn't going to fly with the fan base or community.

As different as Cassie is Sophie, I honestly don't see her being part of the base roster. It's clear they're going for unique styles so I don't think any "clones" will make the cut save for DLC.
Unique styles? Nightmare and Siegfried are MUCH less unique compared to each other than Sophitia and Cassandra.

If we're lucky enough to get Raph and Tira in the base roster - both of whom I think are essential for different reasons - then I fully expect Cassie and Setsuka (the remaining mainstay newcomers from 2 & 3) as DLC.

Pankration/Greek Wrestling is a thing. Emphasise that more for Cassandra if y'all are gonna insist on this. Highlight her innate purification ability that was hinted at in 4, the longsword rumor thing, something to help rationalize the base roster inclusion better.

Astaroth is the only real grappler. No one else excels at it to the same degree.

AND Zas is already confirmed!
Zasalamel is immortal, has already lived for generations and works in the shadows. This is why he's an easy fit, Tira not so much but considering that Talim is in and SC2, SC3 and SC4 all happen in the same year, Tira can make it with this criteria alone. She just can't meet Sigfried, anyone who's played SC3 knows she has a moment contemplating why he exists just before she confronts him.

True facts~

Why are people arguing that Cass needs story reasons to be included in the roster? People think Lizardman is gonna make it and dude has NEVER been story relevant.

By SCIV Cass was becoming quite relevant storywise. Also, she was intended to take Sophis place. During the hayday of SCIV online there were DEFINITELY more Cass players than Soph.

She was literally the main character in a spin-off title and for sure still is one of the most popular characters in the series. She also (if I recall correctly) made it to 2 EVO grandfinals.

I dont know what more accolades you need to make a damn roster.

Few thoughts:

I feel like they're fully focusing on having a roster with very unique weapon, as we can see right now. Well at least for the base roster at least. So in a way i don't think Cassandra and even Lizzy that we seen in the trailer will make it in the base roster.

But since we've seen Lizardman in trailer he may make but not as a character in base roster, (i'll be surprise if that happen anyway), but maybe as a guest character, pnj character or something like Sindel and Rain in MKX. (they appear in Story you fight them and all but aren't playable)

How exactly would he be a guest if he belongs to this franchise?

Tbh I think Lizardman with two axes has more of a chance to make it into the base roster than Cassandra.
He does not.

We never know whats gunna happen so some of yall chill. For all we know shrek could be the next person to be revealed.

Tbh I want cassandra back with some more grapple moves. Really emphasize her" in your face" style

Also write her so she has more on her agenda than just her big sister
