Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I'd say the roster might look like this after the reveals but then again I believe they might have added some more slots just to include Setsuka, HIlde, Rock or Lizardman unless they decided to make them DLC. Imo two of the dlc characters will be Viola and ZWEI. I don't know what's gonna happen to Amy though.

Btw I also thought of putting Hwang next to Mitsu for the Soul Edge reference and Mina next to Taki for the same reasons and have Talim be across Raphael for the destiny battle they shared but then again I'd have to put Cervy or the new character in the corner where Talim is currently placed.

Guys, what do you think about potential mods for this game? Like I know DoA 5 had sooo many costume mod, while there's none for Tekken 7, I think?
There have been no model mods for Tekken 7 because no one has made any model converter for it. There's one thing which is lacking in many modding communities and that's programmers. Without people making modding tools, you can't make many different mods. SF5 got lucky because you can use one specific version of UE4 editor to import models which are completely compatible with SF5, so people didn't even need modding tools.

I hope there will be more modding interest in SC6 than Tekken 7 and I'll be doing some more work myself to see if I can get some basic tools made.

T7 has Denuvo's anti-tamper setting, which refuses to let the game load any outside assets. Only recently have modders learned to import textures and images, but still nothing on models or sounds.

Very likely SCVI will do the same.
That's false. Denuvo does not prevent modding. It protects specific parts of the code which is related to DRM, but otherwise you can do whatever you want.

But what about making the value of sliders for CaS higher, you think that can be modded?
That's most likely going to be very easy via memory editing. The question is if the game checks if any values are invalid when loading a custom character, then some more work is required.

I'm worried. How many copies this game have to sell in order to be considered as a success?

You could call it successful if it surpasses the 2 mill copies, Tekken 7 had 2.3 around all platforms last time i checked.
if you look at it from another perspective you can call it a success if it out sells SC V i think which was 1.38 mill.

Where’s the CAS slot and Inferno?

I'd be surprised. It would be one of the lowest stage counts in series history. Certainly in recent history.
SC4 had a very low stage count as well iirc. Pretty sure more than half the cast shared a stage with another character in that game (similar to SC2).

Where’s the CAS slot and Inferno?

I don't think the CAS will take a slot from the current select screen. It could be either a button or one of the white circles at the bottom.
And I also doubt Inferno will be playable and if he is there might be a bonus character slot like in SC3 and he would most likely be a mimic or something.

Maybe Inferno is something like Injustice premium skins you unlock through customizing Nightmare or maybe Cervantes? I'm going to assume he's in regardless.

People invariably gonna be like "IS X CHARACTER IN THE GAME!?!?!?!!?!?!!?" despite the fact that's never gonna get answered.

EDIT: The prophecy came true before it was even writ GJ.
What do you expect people saw that whining for a character works: Talim, Taki, Mi-na, (Anna, Lei I was certain that Harada wouldn't add them to the game when I saw how often the community asked for them, by the way Julia is gonna be one of the character for sure xD), whining works, asking for a character make the developers know that people want a certain character, and they can play with that to boost the game sales, that tekken season 2 announcement was sick.

I expect the roster is decided and probably mostly finished and people "whining" about Talim this whole time was arbitrary because she was probably going to be included but people like the think they're the ones making a difference?

There's also a difference between showing support for a character and badgering a dev with questions they wouldn't even answer because of marketing reasons. They *know* people want Cassandra, for example. Doesn't mean they'll go "Yea lol she's in, in fact here's the full cast ex dee".

I'm not saying fans passion has zero sway and certainly it will have made a difference but, no Okubo isn't going to go to Gamescom and confirm/deny every single question about every character that everyone has. They clearly have their own ideas in mind about who to reveal and when, that's how marketing works.

I'd really like to see an Okubo interview where he isn't asked the same five questions. For the sake of my sanity, please no more:

"So why is SoulCalibur fun?"

"SoulCalibur is fun because you get to use a weapon. We tried to emphasize the feeling of using a weapon and how fun it is."

Actually, Kayane did an interview with him at E3, didn't she? I'm looking forward to that one.

I think requesting specific characters helps, it just has an extremely delayed effect. You're right, the roster is completely locked in and probably has been for a very long time. But I think Namco noticed the many complaints about the roster for SC5. I think Anna and Lei are an even better example. People complained about those characters missing (alongside others like Julia) a lot for Tekken 7. Nothing could be done short term as they've already decided what characters would be in the game, but once they decided to make a second season pass, then they could address what people had been complaining about the past year.

About the Q&A, I'm pessimistic. I really doubt they'll be selecting good questions to answer. I imagine it'll be a short Q&A session with the host selecting questions with easy answers which makes the game sound good.

Most of the questions are about CaS, Cassandra/Amy/Hilde/Hwang, alternative outfits, digital and PC pre-orders and if have some extra modes (Chronicles of Swords 2, Team Battle, Weapon Master).

I agree that people being loud about their characters will have an impact, I'm merely stating my opinion that for this particular occasion it's not worthwhile. I'd like to see more interesting questions (such as someone asked what their decision making process was in deciding a character's inclusion). I'd like to also note that a lot of people have asked "Is CaS going to be included?" despite them already confirming it. I consider those questions just as ridiculous.

As for Anna and Wei, my knowledge of Tekken is admittedly limited but they were always popular from what I knew, and I'm of the cynical belief that they were cut just so they could be included later - Because people will definitely pay for them. Namco knows precisely what they're doing imo and people will eat it up as if "they listened to us :O". But as I remarked, that's a more cynical view of mine.

I'm also pessimistic about the Q&A choices they'll have, which is why I have opinions about questions like "Will X be in?" and "Can you confirm the inclusion of this confirmed thing you confirmed. Confirmedly." as they help limit the collection of interesting questions that could've been asked. Not of course that there's an endless supply of those and, of course we don't know how long this Q&A will be but, regardless. :)
