Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

It was said that multiples would be kept at a minimum, does anyone remember where that came from?
Kilik/Mi-na and Siegfried/Nightmare being in seems to belie that claim.

My personal opinion is that every character from 1 and 2 should be in, to not piss off anyone, by cutting his/her main that they rightly expect from a game with an SC1 and II reboot premise.

Characters from SE and 3/4/5 would be a nice bonus or DLC material.
Even though seeing Zwei, Viola and/or Algol ever again would make puke more than a little.
But that is just my opinion...
If it boosts the sales, go for it.

Edit: If we see Bangoo finally playable, i'd totally lose my shit and i'm sure i wouldn't be the only one.
Damnit a staff and a polearm are not copies of each other. The only mistake has been them being treated as such and sharing too many moves in some of the games. Kilik and Mina may have shared a lot of moves at some point but that doesn't make them or their weapons clones. It's absurd to act like if either a polearm or a staff is in the game it makes the othet redundant
They are no where near similar.

There was nothing polite about @Keiichi Del Rey 's post. I guess that's why she deleted it.
Actually I've never deleted my posts. Someone did it. I was just defending myself but nevermind.
There was nothing polite about my post, but there was nothing wrong either :/.

I've moved on, and I wasn't going to continue this childish argument, but as you can all see, norik's still here being shady, aggressive, annoying and boring. What can I do now?
(Btw it's "he", Soul !)

I think its also worth noting, ive noticed over the years developers for fighting games never base character roster entirely on popularity alone. There are occasional oddball inclusions that are somewhat out of left field.

My guess is if they feel they have an interesting idea internally, the assumption will be that players will feel the same and it generally is the case.

Now that Seong Mi-na has been confirmed... I hope Amy will be there too considering her popularity. Even if it is in form of DLC / Bonus / Unlockable.

On March 30, 2014, during a Namco Bandai live broadcast, titled "876 Minute" on Niconico, a poll was conducted to determine the most favorite character who did not make an appearance in Soulcalibur V. The four choices were Amy, Cassandra, Rock, and Seong Mi-na. Amy received the most amount of votes, at 39.7%, followed by Seong Mi-na (23.8%), Rock (20.8%), and Cassandra (15.7%) .

I hope Okubo / Project Soul / Bamco have not forgotten.

I know, right?
And Mi-na was first i member.
I just said multiples, because, at least in the past they shared stuff, i wasn't going into gradients of clone nor will i now because it doesn't really matter for my point and i've seen enough of that already.
I was just trying to ask where the "Namco wants to minimize multiples" theory came from.

And for the record, i'm super happy with Mi-na being back and want Lizardman back, with or without Sword'n'Shield, but better with Crawl and without Wings please.

That's what was said about Mina but she's returned. You might end up eating those words in a few weeks.

As for people mentioning Rock having major changes to his appearence, I actually like how traditional Rock looks so I don't want to see that changed.
Mi-na and Rock aren't comparable. One is a sexy waifu in a game filled with fanservice (a major plus from the developer standpoint) and has potential, the other doesn't stand out in any way. This is reflected by their popularity, as Mi-na far outshines Rock.

I think Okubo mentioned the multiples thing in an early-ish interview but I don't know which one.

Most of what Mina showed off in the trailer was new moves wasn't it? Keeping multiples down doesn't necessarily mean removing all the formerly replaced characters, rather it seems they're focusing on making them as different as possible, taking the previous differences and going all the way with them.

I'm sure they could make any duos completely unique if they wanted to so instead the questions becomes who's worth revamping? Siegfried's a face of the franchise so he can't be cut, and Mina's their main popular Korean rep (and is the underboob master apparently) but among the other duos, what ones would actually be worth including both of? Or rather, who wouldn't be a big deal to leave out?

Also Zas is already in the game, we already know they're not just repeating SC1's roster. Cutting Tira in particular would probably cause the biggest backlash of any remaining characters (except Cervantes but he's pretty much confirmed already).

Dude forget about Amy she uses a Rapier like Raphael, she can't be in, she is a clone and there is no popularly poll that can ever change that Kappa
(plus that poll was for Lost Swords so basically that thing is over now and they did out her in it :p)

I will be extremely surprised if Yun-Seong makes it into VI over Hwang. The evidence for this is pretty solid considering it says it is both a practitioner of the Myeong school and a member of the coast guard that chases after Seong Mi-na in her brief character synopsis on the project soul website.

This being said I am extremely curious who Talim is going to end up interacting with considering Yun-Seong likely won't be in the game (unless they switch him out halfway and make Hwang the first costume and Yun-Seong the second but this is unrealistic and not something we've seen Project Soul do before).

You hava Cassandra someone who is more popular than Mi-Na
You have Yun who is also more popular than Mi-Na
You have Amy who is also more popular than Mi-Na

(Yes, I'm using the poll results, simply because at this point if you're ignoring it as the main reason a character made it in or not you're blind)

I could give less of a shit about this overly beaten horse of a topic.

I'd like to have a character gallery with artwork being unlockable and all that jazz. Fully fleshed out that gives casuals and pros alike something else to do as an added layer to whatever the other single player mode would be. Full bios, voice lines, camera control, stage bios. Something that let's us immerse ourselves into the world of SoulCalibur like before IV.

Goes without saying that 2P outfits and extra weapons should be there too.

EDIT: I totally need a jukebox too. So I can play the ost on my speakers or something

Raph/Amy has to be the oddest character duo situation.

Amy's only been in a game and a half, was never meant as a replacement unlike all the other duos, and would just feel wrong in the game without Raph. Yet she's also more popular and generally acknowledged as having a better playstyle.

I can't picture her in without Raph also in but having both of them also seems a bit odd if the roster so limited. She feels like a top choice for DLC at any rate.

You could argue the resources for a newbie went to Mi-Na if she really does have new moves.

Amy seemed really popular, but I don’t like the loli fandom. Maybe that’s my Fire Emblem board mentality, but who those characters appeal too kind of disturb me. I wasn’t too happy she was in IV. Why her and not Bangoo?

Rock and Raph seem really similar story-wise to me too being kicked out of their homes and motivated by an adopted child for better or worse.

IV+ characters don’t seem like they’ll make it or won’t be prioritized as DLC.

I also think Rock has being an axe wielder in SC1 going against him. Hwang has a different type of sword from X regardless and can fuse with Yun.

I actually don't see the problem in having them both in if we have Kilik Mi-na, Night / Seig and all the other duos (Cass /Sohpi, Mitsurugi /Yoshi, Rock /Astha..)
On that case there will not be anything wrong ans I don't see everyone keep making a big deal about it.
They can even make her story better just as they will probably do with Rock.

We got it by now you hate young female characters but here is a thing make Amy Viola's age with the same goth look and I'll still be fine (and I'm sure I won't be the only one) .. So it's not because she is young that I like her...

I know I will regret that but I still have some hope for her even when Raphael has not even been officially confirmed.
An almost perfect roster was the one SC Broken Destiny had. I mean take a look at this:

Soul%2Bcalibur%2Bbroken%2Bdestiny-2.jpg

I am not asking for anything less than that roster we got in a handheld game console (PSP).

If the rumors about the game being "ready" in July with 20 characters but Okubo asked for a grace period is to be believed, I don't think SC VI budget was anything to write home about, which explain a lot: character numbers, new character minimization and so on.

It is no secret Harada doesn't like the Soul series and Okubo had to strong arm him to get 3 extra months, which were enough to add about 3 characters to the base.

It kinda sucks for Calibur when the head of the fighting game division hates it, I don't hold against team Soul, I blame Harada.
