Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

On steam SC6 is not that expensive for me but on PS store its soooo expensive for some reason... I can get like 4 games with that money I hope its just an error or I wont be able to buy this game at all lol

I'm only waiting for the full roster to be revealed, then I will proceed to pre-order the Deluxe Edition, so add my copy of the game + season pass to the list :D

I feel like this game will sell great
Not the revolutionary-astonishing-game-of-the-year great, but great

Pretty sure Talim's got leaked early too. A fair few did now I think of it. Now I'm just waiting for Raphael - 500k views. :sc4rap1:

I think Azwel has the power of memes on his side. I've seen that trailer linked in the weirdest places by people I never even knew were into the series.

What if Tira really isn't as popular as people make out her to be.

I jest, I think it's more due to the fact that the controversy videos in response to it resulted in less people going there because they had already seen the Tira trailer within those videos.

Depends on how you look at it.

All tournament consoles will have all the characters available to play so - no.
Tournament players who are already invested into Tira will be buying her day one so - no
Affecting the potential of creating new Tira players that could go to compete in tournaments - yes

If you want to keep things simple on the idea of DLC is that the more paywall barriers companies put up, the less sales and sustained player base will be. It's already a ton on money to get the full experience for a fighting game.

Example, as of August 2018

PS4 - £250
Broadband - £300 for a year
PS+ - £50 for a year
SC6 Deluxe - £80

So four barriers to entry for the complete experience at around £680 which could quite possibly be the cheapest option available for anyone starting from scratch. Even if you have already got a PS4 there's still three barriers to entry at £430 for the full experience. I can image a lot of people have more important things to spend that kind of money on and less people means less online activity which means less sales as people do buy games for a big online player base. I would still be playing Tekken online but I have much more important things to spend my money on than a online pass and I don't think I'm the only one.
This is so true! Except for the Internet part. Broadband has many uses outside of gaming and social networks even, so I presume almost everyone is already paying for it on a regular basis.

As for the rest, I will admit, I had to find me a benefactor in order to get the console and the game in time because the wages are really low in my country. I probably shouldn't name this person, but I will repay him kindly... In more than just Ivy heel stomps. lol

I wish the Libra of Soul trailer had gotten more attention. It kind of got swallowed by the overblown Tira controversy. I've had to refer a lot of people to that trailer because they were on edge about getting the game if it didn't have single player content or a weapon-master-like mode.

Tira is popular. In my opinion, her teaser was too random (nobody was waiting for it) and too controversial (the DLC thing really killed the hype).
+ Libra of Soul was revealed at the same time. It really was a bad move. Their marketing technique is to blame for those poor views.

Azwel is the leader of humanity, I'm sure everyone raced to their computers for him.

This is very much a worldwide game though, and in many cases, Bamco EU uploaded the trailers first, so we should really look at the combined numbers at least for the main regions. I assume the ratio isn't too different, but it's nice to see an even larger number.

Soulcalibur isn't even remotely a top seller on Steam. It's currently selling in the 160-170 range right behind Borderlands 2, which is a 6 year old game. That's actually really awful, cause it doesn't take much to get into steam's top 25.

It'll sell closer to release, but claiming it's a top seller right now is just bullshit.

They really didn’t show enough new stuff with LoS imo.

The Casuals get the CAS, Story mode and Libra of Souls mode.

And yes, your casual player who buys the game and puts 4 hours then sells it to gamestop won't keep it afloat.

Hardcore players who buy all the characters, and continually support the game will keep it afloat.

if you're not gonna buy the game because you're pissy about who is in the game or who will or will not be DLC... then don't buy it. People who are throwing temper tantrums over DLC and characters rosters are in the minority for SCVI and will hardly influence sales
I'm a casual and I bought every DLC in 4 and 5 and still play both to this day, both which I pre-ordered. I think you're confused as to what exactly a casual is, cause clearly I paid my dues. No tournament and minimal online play from me.

Hardcores and Casuals if both often buy everything the game has to offer. You think I'm going to give up on a CaS style or any extra CaS equipment? Hell no. I wonder how many hardcore tournament is all that matters people buy all the CaS DLC? I know I will pay for any character and CaS DLC available, period.

Oh and as for returning it after 6 days? Are you kidding me, I buy it cause I enjoy the creator and playing characters from my table top games with my friends verses each other. No one who buys it for the creator abandons it, or stops playing after six days, nor do they not buy DLC, extra styles and gear is AWESOME.

It's in top sellers if you sort by release I think it's in the top 25 then
