Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

It lacks of female characters to me, it's not even about the "quota" (bc I know that many people hate it around here lolll) but aesthetically we need more women !!! And hopefully we'll get to know them soon
I find it sad you even feel you need to add the "quota" line. Like people wanting more women needs to have an excuse of some sort. People like women characters and get bored by too many male characters. Sometimes it's that simple.

Would anyone have a list of upcoming events that would have a playable demo? Or is there a different thread for that?

Now that Ivy is a part of the demo I am willing to travel so I can try her out(most of the footage so far has been poor). I am an Ivy main and will focus on providing great footage and gathering as much info and I can, even go through her whole move list. They change her a bit in each game so it would be nice for myself and other Ivy mains to have more of a head start on what to expect with her :)

I definitely want to attend at least one of the next events before October!

Thanks :)
Check the Tekken World Tour events in the US. It seems that the demo has been at all of those. Coming up is CEO (this weekend lol) and after that Summer Jam.

oh gender didn't come to mind. i was looking at it in terms of weapon diversity. but i feel you. theres a lot of female characters they can work with or create.

heres my hope for a blind spear fighter woman!

Let's not start this all over again. I don't wanna see 10 more pages of faux social commentary based on a game here. Go make a thread under the general discussion section.
That's why I mentioned the aesthetic ?

Anyways, how do you guys feel about the ground particles when a character falls ? I think we talked about it a long time ago but it still looks strange/awkward to me ?

If the bonus character is unique gameplay wise (which I think we're all expecting it to be) in any way then they'll be available to download at a later date. They seem to want to focus more on eSports this time and locking out an entire moveset is completely contradictory to that.
Almost every interview I've seen, someone invariably has asked Okubo about eSports, and he has been pretty consistent about saying that SoulCalibur VI is not about eSports, that if an eSports community happens to form, that's great and all, but it's not the focus.

But I've never understood the idea that it's a hassle to have to unlock characters for tournament organizers. I know this isn't like the days of PS1/PS2 where you could just download 100% saves and load them up via memory cards (I mean, if you were technically savvy enough, I know you could actually do this on Xbox 360, get one 100% save, and make a lot of copies, and change each one's hash data for the gamertags being used on each console, but no idea about the current gen consoles, it hasn't come up for me personally), but still, I feel like tournament organizers would be done by people who have the game and/or have played the game, so they could be using their personal copies of the games and the saves which should have everyone unlocked. It just would seem wasteful to me if how they do is buy a bunch of new consoles and never use them except for tournaments. I dunno, just seems a bit odd to me.

Can you give a specific example? I don't fully know which effect you mean
This ! The way it disappeares is kinda strange

As someone who loves playing mimics, I would rather see Algol or Dampierre come back than Edge Master being the bonus character.
I don't have a problem with mimics but if one takes up a DLC slot over either a returning character that's unique or a brand new character that adds something new, there's going to be pitchforks.

That's probably why they mention them as the bonus character and not DLC.

It's clear they won't be able to please everyone either way, but I think it would be best to keep expectations low for the bonus character.

There's no point in including a mimic as dlc though, since it's just a character model with no moveset or anything. It'd essentially be them including a second random character button as dlc.

We'll get a proper character as the launch bonus, there's no doubting that considering even SCV managed to have a unique pre-order character with it's very limited dev time. Might not be everyone's top choice but it'll be a proper character at least and that's all people are really expecting from it.
