Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

With me remembering that Rothion appears in Story mode presumably as a CAS clone...it makes me think that certain characters like Hwang, Rock or Lizardman could also be CAS style clones in that mode.

I'd like to believe they wouldn't downgrade those characters like that...but this is a reboot after all

Hope that whatever Verge meant by Mi-Na being one of the characters snuck in with the delayed deadline of whatever meant something so we don't have to deal with Rock who at that time had the same weapon as Astaroth. I've arleady mentioned that Lizzy's sword is to big for Sophitia's style. Or we could get lucky and have Cassandra get the bigger sword instead and have Lizzy based off of her.

I'm certain that Mi-Na will end up fighting manly men seeking her affections so one of the K-Pop boys will be in.

What would his weapon be? A fork? Like a really big fork?
Really big fork, you say?

Why are you bringing up Lizardman as an example of that?

twitter: "Our SOUL-CAL Ring Out event is coming to LA on Aug. 25th! Come play the SOULCALIBUR VI demo, meet the producer (@achilles_Okubo), and play with a pro (@Kayane). Get FREE tix @ https://bandainam.co/SOULCAL Can’t make it in person? Livestream details coming soon!"

This is important for a few reasons;
1. It is after Gamescom (21st-25th),
2. The Gamescom reveal will take place between the 21st-24th because I highly doubt Kayane and Okubo will want to be flying from gamescom to california in the same day.
3. Aris, Markman, Kayane, and Okubo are all going to be at this event. - This might mean this is a new demo or will have some new information.
Hopefully it's a new build. Keyword: Hopefully.

I just don't see Lizardman doing booty attacks. Although I don't see him doing Sophitia-esque crotch-to-face grabs either.

Anyway, favoritism aside, I think it'd be a waste to have two unique movesets for highly similar sisters. Lizardman just strikes me as being more receptive for a creative and experimental moveset, from an animation perspective if nothing else. Pinning a bland human moveset on him would be a colossally missed opportunity.

T6 and Virtua Fighter 5 FS were top for character based customization, as most all of the customizations were designed on an individual basis. You didn't have largely generic or ill-fitting stuff like in Tekken Tag 2 or Tekken 7. There was also much less out-and-out stupid stuff like giant pizzas on the back or shower heads coming out of the character's noggin. On top of that, characters still had unique 2p designs. The only out-and-out true improvement from either game's customization is the addition of free-range color choice, but even that turned out to be a double-edged sword with how garish some players can get.

That said, the Tekken 6 or VF5 sort of approach wouldn't have worked so well for actual character creation. Soul Calibur has room for improvement (especially in the face department, and needless equipment conflicts), but it gets a lot right overall.

Agreed.

Comparing SC CaS and Tekken customization (of VF's) don't make much sens, since the first was mostly about creating a whole new character in your own, while the other was about customizing an already established character. (even tho you ca still do this last aspect in SC CaS, but it hasn't been the main goal for the devs when they made this mode, i guess?)

It's the E3 build.
I can see why pros are a bit nervous about the final build if we are constantly getting the E3 version. Not to mention the bit of stress that comes from re-testing on the offhand chance things were changed without the addition of newly revealed characters. Do select individuals like Aris and Maximillion only get the one (E3 build) copy or do they get new versions as they are rolled out?

Generally they just get access to whatever the current demo build is. When they show them, it's with a Namco rep sitting with them for a few hours.

Can we like stop arguing about Japan and their lack of tolerance toward religions? They do not tolerate fanatism, might it be from a different country or from their own: they even do not consider Japanese religions the way other cultures see theirs.

Religions are a touchy subject, in Europe, America, Asia, Oceania, and Africa. Let's not mix these chaotic beliefs and their even-more-chaotic history hinder our interest for the game.

To add to that, we don't know how if the build showing Voldo and Talim gameplay was a exclusive thing for IGN to capture. It is probably too much time down the drain to make a new demo build when the E3 one is already cycling and the game is so close to coming out.

It just hit me also, in two days time the game will officially be out in two months and that is so surreal it feels like it was so long ago the game was first announced.

A unique moveset is never a waste.

Plus they aren't similar as they have different playstyles, completely different personalities, and different style of clothes.

Yeah, but it's like two different barbies vs a barbie and a friggin' lizard!

But whatever, clearly I've got my wiring all backwards.
