Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

What's everyones thoughts on the character balance. I feel like NIght, Sieg and Ivy were very powerful. Groh was strong but definitely beatable. Sophie, and Mitsu felt slightly underpowered. X felt rather weak IMO, i trashed every X i went up against except one. Taki was shit. Didn't go up against maxi or voldo enough. Yoshi was beatable. Didn't even meet a talim once. Kilik was predictable but i couldn't seem to beat one cause I suck.
Against Ivy i only needed to step far from her to bait her with her long distance attacks, which let's her really vulnerable.
With Siegried i can read his moves pretty easy and block them, so, no problem.
With Nightmare it's another thing, he's too fast and has a lot of moves that for mere reflexes i can't do anything against them. If i guard down and the attack is coming from above, the character doesn't go up in time and vicebersa.
I guess i will learn how to deal with him when i have more experience, but right now i think he's the strongest character of the roster.

I find it hard to draw any conclusions on balance from games in that beta. I'm certainly not a very good player, yet with the skill of most other players I won a vast majority of the games just by knowing fundamentals regardless of which character I used (I played several games with all the characters). Some of the times I lost I feel I could honestly blame lag, but most losses were against better players who probably would have beat me regardless of character choice. Regarding Siegfried, I really did very well when I played as him, but whenever I faced a Siegfried I felt he was quite easy to step or GI and punish. I didn't come across any good Ivys, she might be a good character but probably harder than average to play well. I had some major problems against Nightmare, but I didn't fight many Nightmares so I didn't have a chance to come up with a good strategy. BTW, does anyone have any good counters to Nightmare's 6 A_B_K_A+B? I guess they can be GI:d, but depending on connection that can be risky?

Everyone seemed to have so much trouble dealing with Siegfried and Nightmare but I found both of their sluggishness so easy to deal with and predict, regardless of how much damage they could dish out. I didn’t lose to a single one I was fighting.

Interesting. I fully broke each X, and found it really easy to get lethal hits on them, especially the 66b. I just found it easy to face them. Sadly however, mitsu was absolutely no match for sieg. I only won about 37% of the times a fought sieg. I never beat a kilik though.
I had a lot of issues against X with Tira. I think I lost the majority of fights against her, unless the opponent was playing very poorly. But I haven't played any fighter since SC5 came out, so my reaction and muscle memory is lacking.

NIghtmare was fairly easy in my experience. Everyone will rush in with his 66B. I'd sidestep that, punish with like 22b or 88b (playing mitsu btw). Nighty's verts are ridiculously easy to dodge, whilst his verts are easily reactable. The issue i had was his punch. Also options in RE are really powerful imo. Sieg's mixups were what caught me out. I'm not very used to sieg, but he feels like he got a bunch of moves that he never had, which keep catching me out. IDK the notations because no move lists and I didn't play Sieg. Ivy was ridiculous to play against, especially since the only ones i went up against were like 3000 rated or higher, So i, not knowing what i'm doing against them, got bodied in record time. I did almost beat one ivy though, they were 7000, and then i got SS'd. I was proud of myself lol. Soph, Taki, X and Mitsu feel weaker than the rest of the Cast. Didn't see enough maxi. Nor did i see enough geralt, other than enough to know he's pretty good. Not broken, but very good. I like playing against him.

Talim vs Nightmare is a pretty interesting match-up I think, it can be a bit of a struggle to get close but once I was in I could shave off most of their health every time. It was only really his invincible blast thing that people seemed to be able to hit me away with.

With Xianghua I think it's just most players had no clue what to do as her. I came across one (when playing as Tira) that was good with her mix-ups and was difficult to fight but the rest were pretty easy.

What's the point when you have Character creation.. lol.

We can just make our own in 2 minutes. That way we aren't bound to whatever the devs make us choose anyway. Hopefully they don't make customs for characters use up the CaS slots (though they almost certainly will).

Yeah I know that of course, but for tournaments settings mostly, may end boring fast to see the same 2 colors during tournaments all the time.
