Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Holy cow, that’s awesome.

Wonder if everyone has some secret mechanisms like this.
Honestly not sure but if that's the case already with these guys so far why only stop here right? Most likely yes my opinion not fact but i do hope so as well cant wait to find out.

They likely already showed their intended service for Ranked mode in the online beta, where you just picked a character from the menu and went straight to looking for matches. Cuts out the middle man of going straight into character select and each player waiting for the the other to choose their fighter and their preferred stage. Very streamlined if you ask me.
It might be just me, but I feel like they were trying to hide the character select screen, especially with Tira available.

I want to see the colored version of the statue. Does someone have images of it?

I think so. Like Yoshimitsu gets a lethal hit off of his BBB string if the opponent has two full bars of super, Tira gets permanent Soul Charge if she changes moods 9 times during a match, Maxi's B+K, B, B, B, A becomes a non-just string and ends with a lethal hit if he pulls off certain attacks after each stance transition (this one is really confusing), etc.

In any case, Lethal Hits are one of the most compelling additions to the fighting system. I love them.

Man... times have changed. I remember when tourney players used to get on this site and laugh at the notion of online being taken seriously in any measure. Basically until you physically showed up at local gatherings, you were just a scrub. I'm not throwing my opinion around here at all im just sayin thats how it was. I've been gone for a while and its just funny to come back and see someone compare online ranked matches with tournament rules.

Condescension was not necessary. At all. Some people preferred normal characters over anything related to CaS. I mentioned tournament players at all, because they usually played with normal characters with no BS that came with CaS. Its not unreasonable to think Project Soul made an online mode without CaS at all, since some players, like tournament players, preferred orginal characters.

Except that Project Soul has stated numerous times esports is not the focus with SC6 and is basically a bonus, so I think it is absolutely unusual to expect a Fox-only Final Destination ranked mode that alienates non pro players. Online isn't even a proper pro training tool to begin with due to microscopic latency at best.

I will miss not be able to use my own custom characters in Rank Matches if it does stay like it was in the beta.
But I wonder since we can choose their player 2 costumes if we will be able to use our CaS versions of the roster?

I remember when they said its not geared towards esports. I said nothing about Ranked being for pros only. Let's remove "tournament player" since people are still caught up with me using it. "People who don't want to see CaS online," is what I'm referring to. It's been requested to have a mode without them. Why is it a stretch to think they wouldn't do it?

Maybe they'll allow it, since there's no hitbox changes

Because CAS is one of their biggest selling points, and has been ever since it was introduced as a concept? I see no reason why they would gimp that. What brought me back to 5 again and again over the course of 6 years was new ideas for characters and taking them online to show and tell, and getting better at the game to make sure my ideas weren't embarrassed. I'd like to get supremely good, like pro level tourney good, at 6, but at the core of my purchase I don't want my favorite feature limited. There were plenty of player rooms in 5 that were either specifically for CAS, or specifically excluded them; do the same in 6 if you don't want them around.

EDIT: Furthermore, if your worry is ranked, it's a completely arbitrary mode/label to begin with. A pro player, if they really wanna practice, will likely set up a room to do so, or get together physically. A player that wants to play the game online period, will play either ranked or unranked. And a player that wants to play the game online with CAS only, or no CAS, will make or join the respective rooms. So I guess I don't see where your problem lies, unless you want a separate og character only ranked mode, for some reason. I can't think of a reason besides wanted that little label next to your name to be higher while eliminiating the 1% chance of fighting thunder drum trollers, or potentially "broken" hitboxes. I can't speak on the latter aspect since I don't go that deep in the game, but I had no issues with CAS aside from being disadvantaged myself occasionally from Height 1 NM/Asty.

But you can still play them online. They're still playable in Casual. Not using them in Ranked doesn't mean not using them at all

Just to clarify: I use CaS. I didn't say they NEED to separate CaS nor am I asking them to. All I noticed is that they called an online mode "Casual Match," making it clear it's for causal play. It was asked by some players since SC4 to give an option to lock out CaS to avoid hitbox issues. I'm not against that and I'm not against a mode providing that option. All this talk about tournament rules, pro players sitting in the same room, or some label or rank next to my name (despite saying ranks in SCV were meaningless) has nothing at all to do with my point. I'm done with this subject

No, but limiting options are rarely a better decision than expanding them. Still wish we had armor toggles for 6; in fact I'm most sad that armor breaks are so much easier and more frequent than they were in 5, all I had to do then back in the day was avoid a strong hit, or purposely get hit by one end of round if I wanted to be broken. It's much more out of my hands now. I hope hex editing becomes a thing here too. o.o
