Hi, I recently saw one of your older vids and noticed the character portraits of Nightmare till Geralt are organized the same as the game's character list:
It's interesting to see that Edge Master's placed before Nightmare, Cassandra got placed after Talim and Amy gets placed before Groh.
I also think it's a bit strange that they placed Edge Master, Cassandra and Amy this way.
It would be more clear if they just gave these three other ID numbers to place them at different spots (like Kyam or Kunpaetku for example) or they could've just labeled them as NPC's, this way we'd know right away that they were never intended to be playable.
Those placements for Edge Master, Cassandra, Amy, and Hwang are correct based on their IDs. You can see their IDs as the first number in the portrait filenames (Hwang is 0x09, Cassandra is 0x17, Amy is 0x30, etc). I don't think it means anything in this instance though. With the story mode portraits they've organized it so that characters who would usually be playable use their proper IDs, while everyone else is using "NPC" or "02D" as prefix, but again, I don't think it means anything.
By the way, these are hexadecimal numbers and almost no programs would order items based on this. This is why the position for Ivy, Kilik, and any other character with a letter in their ID are ordered incorrectly.
Finally finished all of the Soul Chronicles today (after spending way too much time in CaS). Gotta admit I really like the presentation of these stories even if I find most of them a little inconsequential. There were characters who I felt just fought waves of similar CaS opponents with not an interesting enough plot to make it feel worth it, yet I still think that it's miles better than what we got in SCV, and with a smaller budget too! It was also quite fun to play every character and get a feel for who I liked.
Good lord though... Seong Mi-Na... I DESPISED her in Soulcalibur IV. Why? Because she was nearly always the 3rd fight in Arcade and her AI was infuriatingly brutal, like she was told 10 seconds before the match began that if she lost, she would never see Hwang again. What's worse? Her quotes before, during and after battle were the most infuriating, arrogant, mocking shit ever to grace your ears, second only to Yun-fucking-Seung.
So when I saw she would be coming back to SCVI, I was less impressed (though still happy for the Mi-Na mains on here) and more terrified. Turns out I was right. Throughout all of the Soul Chronicles, whenever Mi-Na's style showed up, they went fucking APESHIT and barely let me off the ground.
Geralt's story in particular had oddly aggressive AI in general, so I got brutalized first by a Mi-Na and then by Mitsurugi at the end, who almost made me rage quit, lol.
So yeah, quite the ride.
I stand by what I said prior to even getting the game. Raphael's plot is easily my favourite, not just because Amy's in it, but because the overall plot and the battles connected with it felt like they meant something.
Now I can put my focus into Libra which honestly I think I'm gonna butcher 'cause I'm not totally sure how to approach that mode yet (as my early videos in it probably show).
At this point after playing the Chronicles and a fair few Arcade runs, I think the mystery third main in my signature will either be Groh or Talim. I would have liked it to have been Raphael or maybe Zasalamel but both their styles are just a little too tricky and not quite my thing even though I like the actual weapons they use. I miss Amy... T_T
I still have some Soul Chronicles stories to go through, but I'm liking it a lot so far. This is by far the best story content the series has ever had. I feel this is the first time they've been enabled to tell actual stories and be able to display a lot of the personality and interactions between characters.
The quality definitely differs from story to story though. Raphael's is easily one of the best ones, and I feel they should have extended that one. A lot of stuff happens in his story compared to other characters and some scenes feel like they're supposed to be longer. One thing I'm not a huge fan of in his story is that it implies the events from SC2 to 5 will play out the way they did. I was hoping they'd see the SC6 as a chance to fully reboot the story and have more interesting events play out in the long run.
Seong Mi-na's story was cute and I like that they mixed things up by having her take up the role as narrator.
I like that they portray Mitsurugi as a complete doofus in this game. He's the last person I'd see them use as comic relief, but that's basically what his role is.
He mistakes Maxi as someone who wants to kill him. He gets Nightmare's name wrong. He fails to find this small place called EUROPE. And he spends most of his story being led astray by an old man.
Taki's a story I think they could have easily extended. There are glimpses of political intrigue between ninja factions and that could have been a fun basis for a bigger story.
On the other hand, some stories feel like filler. Sophitia's story starts off in a fun way by showing some interactions between Sophitia, Cassandra, and Rothion, but then everything after that is complete filler.
Same with Tira. Her story can be summed up as "she likes killing people."
I hope they get to make a Soul Calibur 7 as they could build upon the Soul Chronicle structure to make it more in-depth and more interesting. I think it would be a great idea to incorporate this into CAS. Let us make characters and also let us make our own Soul Chronicles. The way the stories are structured as visual novels makes it very possible for Namco to create a "create your own story" feature where you can choose which background to show for each scene, which characters to show, and then write your own dialogue. If people could do that and share their stories, I think that would lead to some potentially hilarious results.

This would be amazing. I've already been toying with the idea of making a 'Soul Chronicle' style video for my custom characters. I lack the editing skill or patience and my voice acting can only go so far, but I'll probably attempt some version of it in the (very) distant future :)
I came away from the story mode with a greater appreciation for Sophitia. She was the only one who went out there and tried to put out as much good in the world as possible. She also helped some of the main cast.
How could she ever have given birth to those terrible creatures? I blame Rothion.
Yo what? Characters named Geki and Maki show up in Takis story. Those were the two malfested ninjas from Soul Calibur Legends. This game references everything!
I'm so fed up fighting knightmare and sieg it's F-ing ridiculous. The same shit over and over again always the leg moves. You'll think I should handle them by now even though I know what to expect but nope. Then you got other fools that do some crap and when i want a rematch they drop out like there cowards knowing they'll lose. The input delay is B as well it messes me up.
It's not exceptionally clear, really, doesn't have a date on it, but since Setsuka wasn't introduced until SoulCalibur III, it could be assumed that it happened during or after SoulCalibur II, which would make sense why it's left out, because this game only covers up to the beginning of SoulCalibur II. Since it doesn't have a firm date, they could have worked it in if they wanted to, but since they didn't, I think that affirms that it isn't until during or after SoulCalibur II.
