Soulcalibur VI General Roster Speculation Thread

SoulCalibur VI: which 3 characters do you most hope for?

  • A brand new character

  • Amy

  • Cassandra

  • Hilde

  • Hwang/Yunsung and/or Lizardman

  • Rock

  • Setsuka

  • Viola

  • Z.W.E.I.

  • Other: Abyss, Algol, Dampierre, Elysium, Leixia, Li Long, Patroklos, etc.

My guess is that the SCII+ characters could be the DLC. Certainly better than guests, whether actual guests or designed by other artists as clones. But one thing really irks me about the character select screen, being that the name banners could be moved down a bit and the window where it tells you to select your character is pointless. I'd say adding two spots on top and maybe 3-4 at the bottom would be benficial.

My predictions (mostly a wishlist):

Dear Three Magic Kings for this next year 2018 I am asking you the following...

22 Main Characters (I refuse to believe there will only be 20)

1. Mitsurugi
2. Sophitia
3. Kilik
4. Xianghua
5. Taki
6. Ivy
7. Cervantes
8. Maxi
9. Astaroth
10. Voldo
11. Siegfried
12. Nightmare
13. Tira
14. Zasalamel
15. Aeon - Lizardman
16. Talim (do not fail us, Namco)
17. Seong Mi-na
18. Raphael
19. Hwang (I wish but probably he will be replaced by Yun-seong)
20-21. (2 new characters - one of them being Dual-blade user)
22. (1 guest per platform)
-----------------
+ Unlockable characters (hopefully obtainable in-game as it should be)

23. Cassandra
24. Amy
25. Setsuka
26. Hilde
27. Yoshimitsu
28. Rock
29. Mimic (my prefference is Olcadan - Training Tutorial)

+ DLC Paid Costumes (not a fan of this but I can accept it if it means they will give us all the unlockable characters for free so they can focus on selling aesthetical content for every character in-game).
I hope at least all CaS items will be availabe using in-game coin so we can make our own extra-costumes for those who do not want to pay for DLCs. That would be the best for everyone I suppose (if there was justice in this world).

Well, my wishes would be that all those bonus content (including aesthetical features) were unlockable in-game. Unfortunately those good old days from SCIII (huge amount of content / all unlockable through in-game shop or playing the game itself) are forever gone.

I know I am being too optimistic here but give me those characters I mentioned in this list (and at least 2 costumes per character) and I am 100% sold. I also need a very good story mode + extensive CaS options + offline decent modes to forgive Namco for what they did in SCV and specially the pachislot bullshit.

Or... let's be honest, just give me the following and I will buy it.

Namco is being incredibly hermetical about this particular game so far. I hope they will not fuck it up.

3 years of development / 70% and we only have 2 officially confirmed characters (+ dual-blade). About costumes only having colour options... a bit concerned about that. But maybe the DLCs will focus on costumes (not on characters)... that's what I want to believe even if it is unlikely.

It seems they are planning to give us info about 2 characters per month. --> October-November 2018 Release?

So, I was looking into SC4 minor characters (you know, those CaS characters that accompany the main guys), looking for some story on them, to see what potential they had (even if they're only story characters, like bonus characters or CaS fodder). There isn't that much, but here is the list I compiled:

  • Solnhofen - Despite the leaks and my theory regarding the story that SC6 will cover, all we know is that SC1 will be in, so Tira seems like a weird addition to the roster, unless she somehow is not in the story. Solnhofen could be a bridge character to her, since he is a servant of Nightmare and a member of the group of assassins that Tira once belonged to before she served the evil sword. Maybe we could have a cutscene after the story (if it only covers SC1) showing that Solnhofen trained her and she is grown up and ready to kill for Soul Edge.
  • Dürer - This guy seems to be one of the few of the minor characters from SC4 that has a backstory that dates long before that game. Basically he was from the Roman Empire and led one of the undercover groups to investigate one of Nightmare's attacks. His unit was killed and he fled, wounded by the sword, to train more soldiers (which would eventually become Berserkers, like those from SC2 and the one from SC3), and eventually went mad because of the wound from Soul Edge and tried to hunt it afterwards. I don't know about you guys, but this guy seems to have a lot more story than most minor characters we know. It would make perfect sense if we saw him in this game.
  • Azola - Little is known about this character before SC4, but she has a quite decent potential because of what she did there. She was the one who manipulated Sophitia into becoming Soul Edge's servant in that game. That already gives away what kind of villain she is. Also, there is a small theory around her that claims she was one of the warriors chosen by Hephaestus, like Aeon and Sophitia, which would make sense considering that Sophitia ended up influenced by her, so maybe they knew each other somehow. It would be good to see someone else actually influenced by Hephaestus, but unlike Aeon, which was turned into a monster, Azola could have just been an evil bitch all along.
  • Marienbard - Marienbard is Raphael's green haired maid, and, granted, there is little we know about her. However, in Raphael and Amy's endings, we see that she was the one who influenced him to go after Soul Calibur instead of Soul Edge. In Raphael's SC4 intro, we find out that Raphael found information "in the darkness" about people who call themselves "guardians of the spirit sword", and Marienbard could belong to either of these groups. SC6 will likely show us how the Soul Calibur got introduced to the story, so a character that has above average knowledge on this could easily be seen.

Didn't Vergeben already confirm we have more than 20 characters?
Basically, yes. Essentially, he said 20 is the lowest number we'll get, and we won't get 30+. Also, there was that french Interview that indicated the select screen of the demo is not the final one.

What do you think?

I really really hope everyone from 1 is in because reboot.
But Lizardman from IV please :)
Was my secondary then.
In the poll i may have voted for Taki only because she is my Main.

He's not but he is a given
Then don't call it "confirmed". The reason for this is because you'll compromise the credibility and the integrity of the actual facts.

Either namco has an official teaser or its just "KJ209's best guess"

You have some official leaks, that are really good leads, but you'll notice that even those posters never say "this is confirmed".

Diver is confirmed to be returning because I said so.

I'll be happy with whichever characters they give us in all honesty, though I'm greatly partial towards Cervantes, Xianghua and Mi-Na, if none of them return I'll just play someone else. The series has a lot of interesting characters after all.

I forgot all about Cervantes.

I'm a bit disappointed, I expected a reboot or remake of SoulCalibur I, but these rumors ...
  • - No Koreans
  • - No Rock, Li Long, Arthur, Raphael, Hilde, Algol or Dampierre
  • - No Bonus Characters
  • - Amy, Talim, Tira in same timeline because fanservice
  • - 12 stages
  • - 2 New characters are male

The only one leaked to be unlikely was Seong Mi-Na, there was no information on Hwang or Yun-Seong.

Nobody has ever deconfirmed any of these either. Dampierre, however, is worthless, good riddance if that garbage is left out.

Its called reboot for a reason, things change. It would be stupid for them to leave out fan favourites after the disappointment that SC5 was. Also, Amy was never confirmed.

It all sums up to: where the hell are you getting any confirmation of this? There was never a statement saying that there would be only 12 stages, and leaks didn't say that either. Also, I fail to see how exactly is the gender of the two new characters a contribution for them to be bad at all, not to mention there was never a confirmation that they are the only two, there may be more, even as DLC.

Exactly there was NO OFICIAL CONFIRMATION, so I said that these RUMORS ended my excitement + if I am not mistaken the new characters are Father and Son (!?).
