Soulcalibur VI General Roster Speculation Thread

SoulCalibur VI: which 3 characters do you most hope for?

  • A brand new character

  • Amy

  • Cassandra

  • Hilde

  • Hwang/Yunsung and/or Lizardman

  • Rock

  • Setsuka

  • Viola

  • Z.W.E.I.

  • Other: Abyss, Algol, Dampierre, Elysium, Leixia, Li Long, Patroklos, etc.

If we're just thinking logically based on reasonable marketing, there's really no way the last reveals will be Hwang, Rock, and Lizardman lol. As much as we want to hate on Bamco marketing, that would be absurd. So provided Cervantes comes soon, that should eliminate in people's minds, unless as extra swaps, the idea that the base roster will have all those characters. And if Merlin really is playable, with the new character out of the way and the big draw Tira out of the way, there should be some expectation of a female character to come.
 
This game would be very bad appealing if they can't have Raphael or Cassandra, or Korean Sword Style in it. Also 20 char + 3 DLC seems pretty poor. Cutting both Lizardman, Rock and Hwang for a game who's focussing in SC1 Timeline would be so direspectful for that era.

I'am still hoping that they would not do that.

From a practicality standpoint, if Rock is included, it would make the most sense if he is just an Astaroth clone in the same way that the Bonus Characters were in SoulCalibur IV. That's the only real way I can see him making it in to SoulCalibur VI. Lizardman doesn't have this problem, because he has enough unique identity to make the sword/axe and shield style his own, much like Cassandra does. Hwang and Yun-seong kind of do have a problem, but they have enough possibility to be different that one could make base game and the other could make DLC, but in that we know that one of the four DLC characters will probably be a guest, the other making it in would mean the loss of Setsuka, with current known slots. Hwang still makes more sense than Yun-seong due to the time period, though, so he's got an edge along with his ties to Seong Mi-na. Raphael is a unique fighting style, so he should really have no troubles making it in, and I'm not sure why it's even contested that he wouldn't make it in.

Rapheal & Hwang will be confirmed, Cassandra is not an important character. The base roster will 24 characters Hwang, Rock, & Lizardman are the Bonus Characters in the base roster and that's why Tira, Setsuka, & Hilde will be DLC characters because they are more popular and players will pay for them as DLC.
 
Hilde is less important than Cassandra, by far. Especially this early in the timeline. All she really has going for her is a completely unique fighting style, but then again, so do Algol, Dampierre, Z.W.E.I., and Viola.
 
My opinion about the rest of the roster:

Cervantes, Hwang, Raphael, A new male character, A new female character are for the base roster

Setsuka, Cassandra, Hilde, A new guest character or if it won't happen maybe EdgeMaster or a new Mimic for DLC!

P.S Lizardman maybe is only available for CaS!
P.S. 2 I guess that they won't disappointed us again they learnt from their mistakes in Soul Calibur V and Lost Swords!
P.S. 3 I want the roster to include 30-32 characters including Rock, ZWEI, Viola, Dampierre but I think that this will not happen, unless if they want to surprise us!

Based on what? Who's your source on this?

It makes no sense to relegate Cassandra to Season 2 DLC. The game might not even get Season 2.

If this is based on what they did with Tekken, a completely different franchise with a completely different character, then you do not know this for sure and shouldn't act like you do. You are just speculating like everyone else.

Unless you're on the dev team or have a solid leak, your posts should probably look more like this. You might be 100% right but the way your posts are currently worded is misleading.
 
I think a lot of people are being too optimistic about character count, not that i blame you. After the evo reveals we can guarantee theres 6 spots left on the screen assuming its final and those dots on the side mean nothing. Despite that, i think the bittom left corner will be CaS which fits the format of previous games and also its a huge draw for casual fans, you wouldnt hide it in a sub menu or something. So then that leaves 22 slots, 20 from the story mode list and 2 that arent. The evojp build had 20 slots which we can assume is the 20 on the story mode list.

So my guess for these slots are cervantes, raphael, new character, tira and inferno. These guesses follow that leak which seems very plausible if you dont assume things have been added

Cervantes is fully confirmed by the CaS footage and also fits under ivy on the list in both name length and timeline (reviving after SC1)
Raphael name fits the slot near the bottom though the timeline shown extends during SC1. These points are basically the same as hayate's
This leaves the slot under Groh on the story mode to be the new character. They seem to be linked and also both have all their known story events during the soul edge timeline

So this assumes the other two slots are inferno and tira.
Tira is planned to be there day 1 so im assuming she will take a spot. This also follows how they designed the SC5 select screen with dampiere.

So thats my no optimism logic, but if you really stretch it, you can guess inferno takes the centre spot and frees a space for someone else and that the new character doesnt have a story mode. Which i believe would be either lizardman or hwang which both fit the last space on the story mode list. (Lizardman being just aeon)

Lizardman due to having the unique design in the story art and hwang who was active during the soul edge timeline and is hinted in mina's bio to be active during the story (unlike rock whose mention only implies his existence)

Anyway, after seeing the reaction to the no 2P costume info, i think a lot of people are just setting themselves up for disappointment so i wanted to put this out there.

My opinions on Cassie is on Anna being in Tekken 7 Season 2 & Hayate's video.

Nina was in every main Tekken game. So Anna being a Season 2 character is easy because Nina is far more popular than Anna.

Sophitia is more popular than Cassie because she's the OG Sword & Shield user, original heroine along with Taki, her model was in SCV as Elysium, was in a Dynasty Warriors game, & is very marketable. Cassie will get the Anna Williams treatment.

Hayate's latest video is the best source of info since Tira was confirmed as DLC. I was never trying to lie and misinform anyone.

So then do you agree with prediction one or two in hayates video? He made two predictions depending on what the white circles are

While I agree with you, I think it's possible that they remake Rock or Lizardman enough to make them one of the last reveals, to generate "ooh ahh it's new!" excitement. If they leave Rock with his regular weapon, there's definitely less chance he will be one of the last reveals.

This video makes more sense since Tira has been confirmed as DLC. I know people are upset about Tira being DLC. I understand the logic behind Tira being DLC. Namco does know it wasn't the best decision to announce Tira as a DLC character before the rest of the base roster is revealed. At least she's not unfinished code or being unjustly replace by a newcomer.

Well, whether they remade them or not, they're simply not that exciting of designs aesthetically, nor are they popular. It just wouldn't generate great interest, even if they had new styles. Hwang or Rock late to be a "surprise" reveal would make sense, but I don't know about both, and while I think Aeon is a lock, ending with him would be weird. That's why I think there is at least one new character and/or girl to revealed. If Cervantes was soon, Raphael going last would make sense. Wasn't Lee last in Tekken? Or Eddy? That would be a similar niche but sizable fanbase.
