"Odd bias"? I mean, I never intended for it to be a wholly objective analysis, but I don't see how my biases are "odd."

The inclusion of Algol and exclusion of V/Z wasn't the result of bias. I honestly like V/Z way more than Algol. But my assumption is that we won't be getting any SCV characters. Now, please note I said this is an assumption. I could be wrong. But if here's my reasoning.

(1) I think they took the series back to its origin mostly because fans didn't like the cast of SoulCalibur V.
(2) Massaging the storyline so that V/Z fit into the events of the first SoulCalibur requires more creativity than we've seen so far in the story.
(3) Okubo suggested we wouldn't be seeing any of the characters from 4 or 5. Which I realize also make Hilde and Algol less likely, but they don't have the same issues as the SCV cast.

tl;dr: I was only listing all the missing characters from SE to SC4.

You should really stop talking about a season 2 as if it's a foregone conclusion. SoulCalibur VI first needs to be embraced and supported by fans with more enthusiasm than any other SoulCalibur in the last sixteen years. I'm not saying it can't happen, but there's a lot of stuff that has to happen beforehand.

Fair, but this wasn’t expressed and there’s also a lot of characters you missed from earlier SCs.

Season 2 is definitely not a foregone conclusion which is expressed in my other posts. Heck they might even flake on s1 and give half-baked effort characters, who knows?

Looks like Inferno is taking the top left slot.

So two unlockable characters, Hwang in the bottom left, Edge Master in the bottom right, and the DLC slots will go above those two, and the last one above Geralt for the second guest. Cassandra on the left, Setsuka on the right.

If positioning matters, hwang in bottom left is kind of bizarre, unless they don’t mind the awkward skip of CaS between him and seong mina. He might be dlc and put somewhere else.

What might make even more sense though is Yunseong instead of or in addition to Hwang, with Yun placed in a slot above the current far left slot (with Hwang in there or not, but having Yun there gives Hwang more credibility to be put there, or swap the CaS and that far left slot).

Positioning got thrown out the window with Inferno in the top left. Mi-na and Voldo rivalry was already bonkers, but this was the last straw. They clearly no longer follow any reasoning.

I was beginning to suspect that with the inclusion of DLC slots. There’s only so many morally ambiguous and actually evil characters that you can put on the same side with regards to how characters interact with each other.

If Cassandra makes it in these are the types of sword and shields I think would help further differentiate her from Sophitia.

Also give her a new stance where she holds her weapons like Patroklos does and give her some of his moves. Call it Arcadia stance or something.

So we know the location of Inferno and Tira on the CSS:

final charsel release.jpg

First of all, it's worth noting that this completely invalidates my recent analysis of the Latin-America stream build, as we can clearly see the final release version of the game has the cleaner UI with the colorful slots and the thinner clouds. It seems like @Sectus was right all along.

Now, Inferno's placement seems to invalidate just about every assumption we had made about the CSS. First of all, despite a general trend the characters are not arranged in good-vs-evil. Taki and Yoshi already seemed to break the pattern to some extent, but now all bets are off in terms of character placement. It is sort of amusing that the top row all wielded Soul Edge at some point, but that's probably just a coincidence. But most importantly, the slots are not (all) DLC! Tira is paid, but I'm starting to think that by "bonus" they mean "we wanted to put her in the base roster but corporate wanted to sell DLC."

Of course, we're all thinking the same thing: Does this mean that the two slots at the bottom are also unlockable characters? It's not out of the realm of possibility. We do know there is at least one style (Lizardman) that's in the game to some capacity but is not represented in the CSS. If we're willing to be optimistic, it's possible that the two remaining characters just weren't ready by the time they had to burn the game into the discs, so they'll just be patched in Day-1. Here's my most optimistic scenario, with DLC as a menu in the middle:

Yes, I still think CaS and random will switch places to prevent menus from covering characters. Bite me.

However, I think it's also important to temper our expectations. It's very strange that they wouldn't advertise two whole characters up until release. It's also hard to imagine how exactly three DLC characters would be snuck into just one little slot. I'm not entirely convinced just yet. Considering there's three characters left in the season pass, and three possible spaces left in the CSS, the following scenario is also perfectly plausible:

I think this is the most likely scenario in all honesty.

Moving the CaS and Random buttons would really help with the graphic design of the screen.

Having 2 or 3 more unlockable base characters would be amazeballs.

That Inferno placement is so strange lol. If anything, I would have thought that Inferno would be slotted where Azwel or Zasalamel is on the select screen. If we are to have a guest the I'm guessing that it would take the center position. Hopefully Hwang and Aeon are unlockable characters though I wouldn't count on it but if they are then that leaves more room for other characters to be DLC. Very likely to be Cassandra and Setsuka in my opinion if Hwang and Aeon are DLC.
