Viola Video Discussion

I don't think it needs a sticky to be honest - 4B+K is situational as hell and although useful to know, is by no means necessary to know - for that reason I'd probably put a link to it in the forum directory, but not sticky it. =/

lol you make it sound like I stole it or something
forum directory, but not sticky it. =/
Yeah I know, but people are constantly like "what does it do" etc

I need your critique on my Viola. I went to this small local tournament on the weekend and had the games recorded with a phone. The quality is awful, and here in Puerto Rico we may be too loud to even hear the match lol. But please I need your advice' I plan on going to EVO and I would like to improve as much as I can. BTW, I won the tournament with Viola... YAY! But unfortunately I couldn't have my boyfriend record all the matches :(

You don't step laterally at all.

My Viola at Insomnia grand finals.
Gameplan going into this was all-out rushdown and a shitload of 8A+B due to his ass block punishment. Made a few mistakes and silly moves in hindsight, but I welcome any critique.

I don't think I'm of a level to critique players. Especially tourney players. But I use auto-evade (4B+K) a lot more against Asty's. I saw you tried to use it once or twice but as often as he was doing the bull rush and huge verts - it might have came in handy. Like you need critiques...

That Asta could have made that match a lot more difficult for you, but I'm guessing there was a lack of MU experience. Anyway, I'd rec. finishing the relevant combos with 66B 66A+BB, rather than 8A+B. I'd also rec. not finishing the AAB/BBB strings, as doing so is asking for punishment so long as the opp. is aware of the opportunity.

Truth be told, I went for Viola because of how she is still relatively unknown and has ridiculous pressure - I was hoping to gimmick it out, lol. As a player, I favour the 8A+B ender because I get a free SET mixup in okizeme and I feel that justifies the lower damage =/.

I'll take it on board, but how could Asta have made life harder for me specifically? I have my own ideas here, but would you be able to elaborate a little so we can compare opinions?

Yeah, after I saw you using 8A+B consistently as an ender, I felt you were more confident with having the orb on the field rather than in hand. I've been favouring playing an orb-in-hand Viola more often throughout a match lately, as it gives her a stronger 4A/2B/1A+B > followup/66B > followup, and so on.

Asta's ability to keep Viola far far away is a big issue, so long as the Asta is playing the MU correctly. 44A/22B/A+B to some extent also are just a colossal pain for Viola to deal with. Bullrush can also shut Viola down pretty hard if she gets in and tries to start her mixup/pressure game. And then there is just the huge difference in damage output potential. So long as the asta doesn't take SET 3Bs/44A BEs, Viola just can't keep up in the dmg department. I personally vs. Asta is her most difficult MU.
