Patroklos General Chat

I used to be an Amy player and at first I wanted to play Viola. But the first day I played the game at a friend's house and since there was no time to practice I just picked Patroklos. Well after playing him for a day I really ended up liking him so I decided to main him.

Well Sword and Shield people I ALWAYS liked (Despite soph is questionable to me). When I Used Cassandra I was hyped when i first used her in the past but when V creeped around... there was no Cass... I was crying a bit on the inside till I saw Patro and THAT EPIC STANCE! I knew it was meant to be for me to use him and when i finally did... it just automatically clicked XD.

Entirely because of the way he holds his sword. I usually make most of my decisions in fighting games based on aesthetic stuff.

It only took me a few gameplay videos to convince me of his worth enough to try him out seriously. Jumping into story mode with him did my first impressions great justice (lol). Lo and behold, weeks later, I now consider him my main above all others.

I absolutely hated Patroklos at first. I despised him with all my heart. I thought he was the worst character not just in video game history, but in fiction history. Then I saw his knee move and I was like "Huh, he's actually pretty cool."

The first trailer made me think " hmm this guy could be cool". Then after a year of waiting and countless pre release game videos later, I got to play him. Can't really play anyone else and enjoy myself like I can with Patroklos.

I enjoy his ability to shoryuken people out of the ring from a ridiculous distance.

That and how he'll knock his sister off a cliff by way of stabbing her in the face then be all like, "Oh noes!"

Pat's the closest there is to Cassandra who I played in the previous series lol. That's why I picked him up...plus friend chose Pyrrha so I had to get the other Athenian warrior.

I absolutely hate him for his poncy swordstance... hating him even more for the annoyingly endless quips about 'justice' ...hating also for not letting on as to how and when the hell he was taught by Setsuka and became alpha patroklos.. >_<

However, I do admire his even more basic gameplay... the knee move is just epic... he punishes really well, his CE really hurts, easily setup and can RO, and his damage off pokes is enough to literally be able to poke people to their death.

Considering all the good bits I found, he makes a decent, but still annoying 2ndary character for me... ^_^

Let's all join hands and share our feelings. Relax, and open your heart to eachother.

Like how Mikosu opens his heart to me.

So how are you Pat players feeling about Pat now that we're over a month into the game? Any major shortcomings? Any tips or major breakthroughs you wish to share?

I've been playing only him and it's like an uphill battle sometimes, but I don't ever feel like I lack tools to keep some kind of pressure.

Verbose responses encouraged!

I think he is not that good.
No good wake up game
Too many high for a bulldog character
too easy to space out.
No good BE.
No good mix up
Bad step catcher, 22A is high, 3A is good but the damage doesn't afraid the foe, 66a is some kind of meh

your AA sucks and you dont have any 2A
236B can't punish medium-long range

if you want to play what should have been patroklos, play pyrrha

I think he's super solid. 1K is crazy good and it's hard to get him out of your face. His step kill is really good and his ringout game is crazy especially once he gets a bar. Lots of great tech crouches and a really good aGI. He doesn't rely on meter for damage and that allows for him to save meter for clutch situations and ring out CE. I feel that he has all the tools he needs to succeed, but he isn't very flexible.

Obvious shortcoming in that he lacks long range tools beside 66B, as good as that move is everyone knows what I'm going for from a range. His brave edges aren't great but I think once people get solid at the game almost no characters will have BEs they can just throw out. I think his movement should be a little better. Patroklos players should probably have a sub with better range.

^= Basically what Fallacy said and whatever anyone says 236K (I been repping that move) is too good for bar build up. 66B range (despite everyone knows your going to throw it out there) is very deceptive and people 80% of the time will underestimate the moves range. He has a lot of high tech moves that he can crush and his damage is ridiculous. I still stand my ground he is mid/high tier. He isnt too good but he isnt too bad either and can hold his own.

Do any of you know what frame his high crush moves begin their tech crouch on? It can't be too impressive because after some blocked attacks, high attacks are easily counter-hitting my high crush attack. I suppose I could hit up training tonight, but I was hoping someone knew what frame they crouch on so I could study the frame data and know what moves it's possible to gamble a high crush on after block.

My staple lately has been iWR K,A however, which btw, everyone should master. That into CE gives you stupid ring out range.

Does anyone like to act like a real Patroklos and overkill opponents when you win?

What are some of your favorite things to do? As you know, CE moves don't consume meter after you've won the round.

1) CE them, every round, even the first

2) Use 66A~BE so Patroklos says "Get Lost" (usually on final round)

3) Hit them with B until the last moment to 66B+G their face with my knee

4) Cancel A with G over and over. Cancels really well, and he makes a noise each press. Nice little dance. Speedy looking.

Whatcha got?
