Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Not enough to go on. Games use the same voice actors for multiple roles all the time, think Bethesda. The other similarities could be boiled down to lazy programming since they ran out of development time for V, reuse certain features, add on top of that Viola was unbalanced and unpolished gameplay wise. She was a rush job. And as far as dialogue with Raphael, could be a coincidence. Many characters have special dialogue with others for no apparent reason.

Unless Namco flat out says this in Wiki, character Bios, or whatever it is that they do, there is no reason for me to believe it. I always thought it was just crazy fan speculation with no basis in reality. Why would it not be painfully obvious in the game if it was true? Namco leaving little bread crumb clues?? I don't think so. If it was true it would be right smack in your face.

Since you mentioned Bethesda, then a good way for SC VI is to let an open source for modding, like Skyrim and Fallout...Just kidding.....

...but...it is a smack in your face lol what else do you need?? The only way they could have made it more clear is if they outright changed her name to Amy. They were clearly setting her up to be Amy in story mode before they nixed 3/4ths of it. And I'd say for the most part the special dialogue is for established relationships. She even has one with Nightmare (who is Raphael) when he beats her.

Once again, they CLEARLY have the same face, same aesthetics, same VA, same relationships, I mean I don't see why you would choose to not believe namco when they're shoving this in your face.

TIL GI has beaten throws before, huh.

Also, Heather Hogan's performances as Amy and as Viola are entirely too similar. This actress provided the voice for the happy, bubbly Colette Brunel too; it's not like she's just low-emotion.

Viola is Amy, SCV Nightmare / Graf Dumas is Raphael; these things are basically facts unless you're being difficult for the sake of being difficult. You don't have that many similarities and dropped hints by happenstance. It's why I wished that they had made a SCV Complete Edition instead of this reboot. Tons of wasted story potential was in SCV and woefully incomplete. If it was completed, I imagine a lot less hate.

With Viola being Amy and SC5 Nightmare being Raphael, I guess that may explain the unique victory animation Nightmare has when he beats Viola. Suppose we should take that into consideration as well?

That is really what makes this so difficult.

In the end, it doesn't matter if Amy is Viola or Raphael is Nightmare, because the story of SCV didn't explore that question and that storyline will probably never continue.

For what's it worth (nothing), I suppose it is possible that Project Soul changed their minds at the last minute and decided not to make Viola Amy and Raphael Nightmare. All the design elements suggesting they're the same character were left in the game, but they decided to leave it intentionally ambiguous in case they wanted to bring Amy back later. Maybe they were waiting to gauge fan reaction? The only really weird part of all of this is the inclusion of regular Raphael in the main roster, and the fact that he doesn't have any special interactions with Viola. Argh. Why are we still haunted by this half-finished game?

There is also that Raphael addresses Voldo as guardian, where he was guardian for Graf Dumas.

Who do you think has more chances if they'll have to go with just one? Viola or Amy?

Personally i'll say Viola. Just for the super uniqueness.

Raphael does have specific interactions with Viola; you should check again. And it's not any more or less weird than having both Siegfried and Nightmare in SoulCalibur I or the two Patrokloses/Pyrrhas.
