Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

OK.I will try to explain it with my bad english. My main concern is if a lot of people pre-order the game now maybe Namco will give us unfinished game again. How to encourage someone to make something better when he already got your money?

Maybe they are assessing if people are actually interested in sc based on pre orders. If they are it seems reasonable. I mean this is their last last chance after the mess that V was. Also, they might know how much effort they should put into it if they know how many are buying. The sc team seems dedicated and I’m sure they don’t want to put a half game out there.

oh. i realized we have only received 1 new character so far being Groh. I dont count geralt because he is a guest character and not owned by them. so maybe we'll get 4 new characters, a guest, and the rest veterans. i would be happy with this

Yeah! This would be awesome! I really think that we'll have one more new male character and two new female characters and the rest of veterans (Talim, Astaroth, Maxi, Setsuka, Hwang (because of storywise), Seong Mina etc)

I won't be pre-ordering because I want a digital copy. I have reason to believe that endless hours of sc4 and 5 over 3 years ruined my ps3's laser.

I will be buying it on the PC and PS4, but will hold off on preordering until I can see what sort of stuff is in the higher tiered versions of the game.

What if the collectors edition comes with one of those sweet ass guidebooks like the one they put out for SCV? Shit that thing was good.

What if the season pass (or whatever they decide to go with) is as lukewarm as Tekken 7’s? Hmmm that might make me lean toward just picking up the standard editions.

What if the deluxe/collector’s/super supreme version comes with exclusive items for CAS that I just have to have because I’m a dress-up-dolly addict and needs must haves all clothing?

So many questions!

Tbh the moment it shows up on PSN I will per-order it. Btw Tekken too had a similar discount for pre-orders for like 6 months on PSN if I remember right.

I actually already preordered my PS4 copy back when the Amazon listing appeared in December for $46. I will definitely be looking out for the potential collector’s edition when it becomes announced. I ordered the SCV collector’s edition and while it wasn’t all that special I was absolutely enamored with the mini artbook they included.

heh I haven't even purchased a game console, until I figure out which console has a healthy player base.

I literally walked into Bestbuy 1 day before SC5's release and asked to pre-order it. They gave me a weird look but w/e.

I will instantly preorder it for PS4 when I see a release date also I will probably buy it on pc later just support the game ... It would be great if the pc version is easily modded like other fighting games on pc

BEST sugestion I've seen

someone show this to Okubo!!!

My thinking is that pre-orders are used to gauge public interest. If enough people commit here or there, etc... Just another tool for the developers and the retailers when deciding where to invest their money. They will still make the game they originally announced but future stuff might be determined on the early market reaction. Slightly. There are other factors too. Pre-orders are just some of the first and have value since people are committing to purchase, sight unseen.
I pre-ordered Soul Calibur II, IV and V. Not III, since I didn't have a PS2. Big in store waiting line for SCII. No wait for the others.

I'll probably pre-order VI but not until they:
- Specify that release date
- Identify pre-order bonuses (and which ones are retailer specific)
- Reveal the customary collector edition details - There's gonna be one, right?

Then! Maybe...

I'm only preordering once those weird European sites start selling Deluxe Edition CD keys for like $40.

PS4 > X1 > PC if you're looking only at playerbase.

Should be X1 = PC > PS4 but Bamco is too dumb to implement crossplay.

Oooooooorrrrr Sony doesn't like to play ball with Microsoft on the crossplay front and instead of screwing over one set of platform owners most developers decide not to include it at all.

Examples:

https://www.theverge.com/2018/3/12/17111546/microsoft-sony-fortnite-cross-play-ps4-xbox-one

I think there will be more PC than Xbox One, personally. Japanese games and fighters have been coming to PC with greater frequency while Xbox One is lacking when it comes to Japanese games, so the people that would buy a Japanese fighting game seems more likely to be on PC than Xbox One.

I don't know if Bamco would care enough to implement crossplay even if Sony freely allowed it. I feel like with a lot of Japanese companies PS4 is the main focus and PC and especially Xbone releases are a secondary thing for a small foreign audience, they know most of the playerbase will be on PS4 so it's not really worth the effort figuring out crossplay for them.
