Raphael is also a canonical wielder of Soul Edge, even if he basically took on Siegfried's style while doing it. Raphael being cut to remove the possibility of that future is slightly alarming. Raphael was an interesting Soul Edge host, too, because he let the sword do what it wanted while he retained free will, to some degree, because instead of just massacring the countryside to get souls, he used political power and manipulation to control people to have souls delivered to him. It's just a shame that SoulCalibur V's story mode wasn't deep enough and multi-faceted, as SoulCalibur VI's seems to be, so we couldn't really see things from Raphmare's point of view.

Oh, you're right! "Graf Dumas" aka Raphael's physical body was a host, but I wonder why it retained Siegmare's fighting style instead of the rapier.
 
Enjoyed Maximilian's stream on Soul Calibur 6. That was the best, most focused set of footage we've gotten out of the game. Also enjoyed some of the comments about "poser Groh" and his eye-patch. I do wonder what it's for; either to seal some Soul Edge/Malfested power or maybe Groh's some kind of time traveler. Either way, the poser comment are pretty fitting. I'd still play/main him.

It's actually refreshing getting a "mysterious character" archetype that doesn't have all the basic facts on their biography in excruciatingly vague or otherwise unintelligible detail (coughZ.W.E.I.coughViolacough).
 
The "perspective of each character on main story events" is such a promising idea, as it tells that they want to put as much emphasis on the element of characterisation as they do on the main plot itself. If they do this right, not only will we have a nicely fleshed out story, but we'll also get all of the characters getting nicely fleshed out and developed as well. This is something that not even NRS story modes do, as usually they have a few select characters they place focus on with others being sidelined or left to be villain fodder. SC6 seems to be rejecting this idea, and that's really good to hear. I'd love to see each character's personal journey even if I'm not that interested in the character themselves. I want to experience as much of this world as I can.

Okubo was definitely talking about single player content in SCVI being the "most packed".
 
I'm glad that's how they're doing story mode, I really don't like those one line stories in fighting games since there's always characters who get sidelined barely doing anything, just look at later Blazblue games where the story is very long yet you still only play as half the cast, at one point fighting 7 battles in a row as the same character. The first couple BB games had great story modes too with every character having their own perspective, the switch was massively disappointing.

hopefully SCVI is a good sign and everyone's going to move away from single line stories, they were a terrible, terrible change to fighting games.

At least NRS games have Arcade endings.
 
Yeah so that sort of confirms my suspicion that there's the main story (from Cervantes vs Taki to Xianghua vs Inferno) which will be told mostly with fancy 3D cutscenes, and then the character stories will be much more in depth and use the illustrations. I'm perfectly okay with this, as it means a lot more story!

I'm curious to see what that second story is. Sounds like Chronicles of the Sword to me!

I bow to you, self-elected representant of the community.

I just saw some people reassured because Talim is soft confirmed, and some people (the same, sometimes) be worried because...Vergeben tell them to be worried about Raph.
I also saw 2 polls with Talim being higher than Raph (1st vs 19th and 9th vs 15th), but it's clearly a conspiracy of casuals players.

Maybe we could stop insinuate that our own tastes/concerns are worthier than others.

I didn't represent anyone, nor did I claim to. Look around, and you'll see that many people are legitimately bummed out at the prospect of Raphael being in the game. We've already discussed the polls, at length. Maybe read the thread a little bit before you come flying in with your pants down.
