Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

If we waste a slot on Algol again I... Can we at least CaS him for absurd character concepts?
If you meant use his style, that is not going to happen, honey. Did Algol once say he has no equal? Besides, blade-like spikes protruding from my custom characters is a little disturbing. Although the ability to shoot darkness bubbles is another story.

Never liked Algol, he was the only character in the entire series that completely bored me. I even like Rock more.
Algol was better as a myth.
Not to me. Check this out, right...I picked up Soul Calibur 4 and Soul Calibur 5 just this month and he was a reasonably difficult boss for me to fight. While Sophitia, Setsuka, and Cassandra are my favorite characters, this guy has such cool-looking moves that he will be a blast to discover. If he is in SC6, I would be cool with it since it appears he has quite an important role in the story of this series.

Been reading that correspondence 2 pages earlier...

How was Devil Jin in Soul Calibur 5 such a success that people are now suggesting a multitude of styles to be included as CaS???

Guys, he was a failure, a rushed addition. You need standardised characters or no characters at all. Let's just move on and never speak of this again! xD
Probably because many CaS players are afraid of being way too limited on styles, especially as guests and some boss characters like Algol and such aren't CaSable and are thus a wasted slot or CaS players in the same same Devil Jin was a wasted slot for standard players.

I don't see why it's so hard for all styles to be CaSable, no conflict then...

I'll admit Devil Jin's style wasn't very good, but it was nice having another style that could be CaSed. Unlike Algol and Ezio that preppy much just sat around. Though one good thing did come from Algol, his hair as a CaSable item was fun.

Not sure how you took a character who teleported and sat on you with a stone thrown, hit you with his rib cage and shot BUBBLES as a serious character.

I know I've said it before but I'll say it again, I could make a more appropriate character for his absurd moveset using CaS by creating an evil psychotic demon clown. But alas not CaSable and still absurd.

Personally, I think the Algol is like a mixture of different SNK BOSSes (especially Orochi) and Asura from the game Asura Wrath
But this is my humble opinion, I do not impose it on anyone.

That's cool, different people have different tastes. I just personally felt like he should have stayed as an unplayable boss considering the game is about fighting with weapons and then you have Algol with his craziness. It's like if Azazel was playable in Tekken 6 to me.

Algol wasn't crazy at Azazel tho, i'll put him more into Ogre (normal not true) in Tekken 3 or Gill SF3 in the level of craziness.

Do you think we will see a SC 2, 3, or 4 style Talim in this game or something different?

Her visual design has changed so much every game.

I do remember that the developers said somewhere that Talim is hard to balance out. I don't know why since she was good in SCII. If she does come back with her previous kit I would like it to be more improved with her having safer moves with maybe some more reach. She does control the wind so they may add that to her kit like how Kilik enters his evil mode.

Also I don't want her to come back with those see through pants. Stupid design choice.

To touch on another topic. Algol is daddy ASF. However, I find him boring and want Hilde instead.

Finally, what do all of you think Siegfried looks now visually? Does he look better, worse or about the same?

Siegfried looks the same to me.

I still think he looks too fat, but honestly for the most part I am fine with his look. I just think they need to re-model the clothing a little bit because as it is now he looks a tad too disproportionate.

For my part, I'd speak more to the CaS styles from SoulCalibur III being a success than Devil Jin. The styles from SoulCalibur III were neat, incomplete and rough as they were, to give CaS a bit more flair beyond just mimicking the main cast in one way or another. Plus, they allowed Hwang and Li Long (and Arthur) to make a return, which was a nice bonus. Plus, they gave us Amy, who probably would never have been playable without. If we were really going to start seeing the inclusion of Salia, Dürer, Toki, Bangoo, and the like, I feel like CaS styles is the way to give them a chance, and if people take well enough to them, then maybe they can be refined and added as complete characters in the next game.

Why? I already know I'm not going to get that, why even bother? you're better off lowering your expectations in order to actually enjoy the new game, and if you like SC3 so much, go back and replay it, I know I do.
I did replay SoulCalibur III a couple months ago, and it was still fun and great, but imagine that same experience with current gen tech. It would be brilliant.

Do you think we will see a SC 2, 3, or 4 style Talim in this game or something different?

Her SoulCalibur II 1p and her SoulCalibur III 2p were my favorites, so hopefully somewhere along those lines.

Outside of guest characters, we have Groh's Father as a Verg confirmed newcomer. Plus we have the potential for maybe one or more newcomers besides him still. What new style could Papa Groh add to the game that you'd like to see? What about other potential newcomers? I saw some type of archer was a popular idea.

(See! I can talk about more than Raphael, I swear!)

I'd like to see the Lance style from SoulCalibur III make a return as a proper fully fleshed out style, that could be nice. While there were a ton, an overabundance really, of users of the style from SoulCalibur III, it always gave me the feeling of a more serious and seasoned veteran style, so it would feel appropriate to have that kind of style for Grøh's father, compared to his son's more wild and flashy style. It's also possible that this is the "spears" that was talked about in the ESRB rating.

Grøh's father using SCIII's lance style would be interesting. Something like a bardiche would look really cool as well (if not too similar to Seong Mi-na's glaive).
Speaking of Grøh's father, I'm curious to know about his personality and role in the story. Since Verge said that Father is one of the story mode bosses, I'm under the assumption that he'll be a major villain in the plot. I can see him being charismatic and with seemingly good intentions at first, but once the mask comes off he's revealed to be a violent megalomaniac who is willing to commit horrible deeds to achieve his goals. Kinda like Ghetsis from Pokemon. And Grøh can be N, lol

But even if you do hate mimics, I still don't really fully understand how you could hate Elysium,
I love mimics (in moderation), hate Elysium, and would be happy to explain why.

The biggest reason that the "Soul Calibur is also evil" idea is the most shark-jumpingly stupid "plot twist" ever inflicted upon the SoulCalibur storyline, which was already weak and wounded from a decade of lazy writing. It was at this point that I realized a reboot was inevitable, since they were obviously out of ideas for how to move the story forward.

Elysium is inexorably linked to this storyline, so I can't help but dislike her as well.
