Soul Calibur 6: Technical Gameplay discussion

At 1:25 of this vid, geralt GIs early in the active frames (as evidence by him getting the meter bonus) but only gets the weakest "twist" GI.

I've also seen GIs that trigger near the tail end of the active frames result in the best "butt slide" GI.

This leads me to believe that the level of GI you get is primarily (or solely) based on the attack that you GI. So, to use this Geralt GI as an example, the fact that you can be hit by the first two hits in the string and still get the GI (with meter bonus) by presumably mashing GI during your hit stun frames means you sure as shit ain't getting a lvl3 GI for it.

Is there retreating guard/advancing guard and/or weight classes for block/combo properties in this SC?

I just saw something comical. The timer clock kept running UNTIL Ivy got went down from the ring instead of right after being KNOCKED OUT.Kappa

my fellow taki mains, our character is officially dead

no unblockable ninja bomb

no unblockable cancel during possesion

no low kick during possesion

Same BS you posted in the SCVI General Discussion thread claiming Taki's unviable. No tier list have been made, no high level Taki play yet & this game isn't even out yet.

Wtf, let me review the video with all my GIs. The pattern of time affecting it seemed to be there.

Here are the moves GI'd and the GI levels:

Max 4B: lvl 3
Yos 6A+B: lvl 2
Max 6K: lvl 2
Max 1B: lvl 3
Max 4B: lvl 3
Max RO KK: lvl 2 (now that looked like an early GI)
Max 2B: lvl 3
Max RO B: lvl 3
Max 1KB: lvl 2
Max LI A: lvl 1
Max RO KK: lvl 2

So we see the same moves are getting the same GI levels (we see two 4Bs and two RO KKs listed there). Not seeing any pattern or reasoning behind what move gets what level. I will test it this weekend at Anime Expo.

Not seeing any pattern or reasoning behind what move gets what level.

If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that:

If you can be hit by the first/second/etc., attack but recover in time to GI the next attack in the string, you're probably getting a lvl 1 GI. (as in the third attack of Groh's B B B in the video I posted)

If you can block the first/second/etc. attack but recover in time to GI the next attack in the string, you're probably getting lvl2 GI. (as in Maxi's RO KK in the video you posted)

If it's an initial/single attack that's slow to come out (but not a guard break, obviously) you're probably getting a lvl2 GI as well. (I could see there being a lot of variety in this one though)

If it's an initial/single attack that isn't slow to come out, you're probably going to be rewarded a lvl 3.

If it's the second/third/etc. attack in a string where you can only GI if the one before whiffs, you're probably getting a lvl 3.

Pure speculation, but that's what would make sense to me.

I think I saw someone block to negate the pushback on SC. If you read the SC activation coming, can you jump and punish it?

Had my own question answered at 1:20. Maybe CE punishes? Feel like there should be a way.

And this clearly didnt show all her moves, as in (around) 5.55 they get to WR options and they only show the BKB, where in some other gameplay vids I saw the BBB one, so you cant be sure about anything yet

No if your in the air and they activate SC it puts you on the floor by their feet.
I'm curious what happens when opponent is super in the air when it happens.

So myself with most the UK scene and couple other names like Kayane is going to VSF 2morrow and I want to try clear up what exactly gives GI its post advantage so I've made this info template on my notes that I'm gonna fill in when I get round to testing GI.

Want to try find a pattern so I'm gonna be testing a combination of different timings, hit levels and some moves of different initial damage output hoping to figure it out.

So level 1 GI will be smallest advantage (I assume Zas BB will be blocked since its likely still i16)

Level 2 GI will be medium advantage
(Zas BB hit but Zas 3B which is likely i19 blocked)

Level 3 GI will be the strongest advantage (3B hits)

Will fill in the GI advantage to each move and at least at first different timings to see if that affects it:

Notes-

Me using Zas vs Kilik

As Zas will do 6K(i13), BB (i16) or 3B (i19) post GI.

Early GI set up - Kilik 214B blocked - Kilik move 2 GI
Neutral - I will do Zas 3A(B) - Kilik move 2 GI
Late GI set up - Zas 2A+B blocked - Kilik move 2 GI

Level 1 GI (Zas BB blocked)
Level 2 GI (Zas BB hits but 3B blocked)
Level 3 GI (3B hits)

Kilik 2A (special low)

What is this riddle shit? If you've got something to say, say it.

On a more productive note, I'm looking forward to your findings, @AndyrooSC.

oh Sorry everyone thinks its a non issue.

SC6 "Guard Impact are Free" no more meter management, which means new gameplay tech is "GI into CE"

IN SC5 your limited and have to pay attention to resources. you needed A Meter and a Half to attempt it and have to weight overall potential damage.
IN SC4 Frame Turtling was the issue.. CF tried to fix that.
IF SC6 is meant to be inviting to new player, "GI into CE" is going to make them Rage drop the game at Low Lvl Play.

At HIghLvl play "GI into CE" is the new CE Turtling tech.
Free meter system, RE giving so much meter.
Build meter, slow everthing down, "GI into CE"

I hope Namco sees it.

From what I have seen even in this vid with Kilik Gi'ing Voldo CE, "Which is Bogus" Kilik Gi'ed Before voldos started CE Vid animation.
@11:03 to 11:10. Its not even reaction, Kilik saw the future and "Just Did It"

#1: Gi window will be made smaller "FACT"
#2: Everyone is saying you can re-Gi CEs after being "GI'ed into CE."
#3: IF everyones plan is to learn very characters Vid CE timing GoodLuck.

So your going to Re-Gi Taki's CE, or Zasa's GI-CE, or Ivy's GI-CE . That's A Big SC6 GI Window. Its Amazing. lololol
Your going to Re-GI a Video CE.. OK...that takes SOME practice.

IF SC6 is meant to be inviting to new players, "GI into CE" is going to make them Rage Drop the game at Low Lvl Play.
Everybody likes to troll noobs, but it get boring. With this "Just play an entire game with only Reverse Edge and "Gi Into CE". lololol

Gi Into CE

By this do you mean people will GI an opponent, then use their CE? Or do you mean someone using their CE and immediately getting GI'd?

Can't really see how it's much of an issue. I'd take GI working on break attacks/not working on throws over either of those getting "fixed".

Unless it has changed in recent builds, Post-GI CE is heavily scaled. Compare the damage from the post GI CE at 2:58 to the CE done at 9:10.

Also, you never seemed to acknowledge that failed GI/RE does guard damage. So if your gameplan is to build meter with RE and cash in with Post-GI CE, that's a very guard damage intense strategy and also vulnerable to guard break attacks if you're predictable.

I agree that it seems like it requires some knowledge of the systems to counter, resulting in new players getting wrecked by more experienced players like always and doing little to improve their lot in life. Indeed, it seems like it would be super frustrating with a noob just wanting to land some attacks but they're constantly being RE'ed and thrust into a rock paper scissors match they likely don't know the rules for. The brick wall will be right there at the starting line. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Oh, another thing I forgot to mention: There's a tool you can use to aid your re-GI timings in the case that your opponent likes to put you into GI and use CE: look for the fire to appear at their feet.

You Build Meter Sit on it waiting to GI then CE. "And now your opponent is expected to re-GI your vid CE as a defence too it"
re-Gi'ing CEs as a defence against it??
All I see is that "Gi into CE" will always Hit. then u build meter again Rinse and Repeat
"oh no, A Gi War"," there is no Gi back and forth if someone has CE."

The Free Meter System is BullShit.
Soul Calibur never needed it. Its for the NewKids, this generation who like Flashy Supers and want to feel special.
