Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

4. With Seong Mi-na confirmed, Hwang seems just as likely to be confirmed.

This is the issue with the vast majority of these posts.
What you mean to say is "Hwang is just as likely to be included."
What you type is that.
What people read is "Hwang confirmed".

Y'all can bicker about how there are eight hundred & sixty four thousand pages of back and forth Tira/Hilde/Raph/Negan/Waluigi discussions and you're sick of seeing it all you want but you're doing it to yourselves.

Fact is none of you are more right than the other, but keep acting that way and getting mad about it, we're all laughing over here. Infractions soon for those who can't remain civil. That is all. Peace and love. Kiss.

Everyone is just going to keep spamming that their favorite unannounced character has a chance.

I wish they'd just dump the roster already. Though I'm not so naive to believe that even if they did and Hwang or whoever wasn't there we wouldn't just get 400 pages of inane DLC speculation because you just can't win.

Ryūzaburō Ōtomo returned, Mi-Na had a change in the dubbing, now it's Chinatsu Akasaki, formerly Sanae Kobayashi.

Where did you find that? It sounded like Chun-Li's JP VA to me.

Mi-na sounds good, but for Astaroth, I prefer his ENG VA.

I took a look at the popularity poll once again and I saw Mina was at 15th place. Astaroth was at 25th but tbh he was pretty much guaranteed to show up. I'm also 100% sure that Tira and Cervantes will be making it as well. That leaves Cassandra at 12th, Amy at 13th place and Yun at 14th place.
I believe they will all make it but hopefully they increase the roster size on the character select screen or else there will be some huge cuts.
Raphael and Setsuka were at 19th and 20th place which makes it very tricky for them as well as Hilde who was at 24th. Lizardman was very low at 30th place which makes me believe that he could be turned into a generic cas story mode fight but then again his fighting style for SC5 was perfect so hopefully they will have him be the same. Rock was also low at 31th place so I personally don't see him return unless again they increase the size dramatically. I forgot to add that I do not know if it's even possible to include Amy without Raphael since she is way more popular but then again there's also Viola so I have a feeling the dlc will work things out for them.
I know many will say that the popularity poll is not all they are going to focus on or that the story does not support their inclusion but I think we shouldn't focus on who can make it just by looking at the timelines plus there will be lots of dlc. Especially if we all support the game.

Raphael is in a very interesting position.
His debut was pretty strong but we have to remember that was well over ten years ago.

Most people that I speak to in person haven’t played SC 1,2 or 3 let alone know what soul blade is.
Amy blew up when Star Wars were guess characters (arguably when the game got the most exposure)
A lot of new players have no idea about Raphael’s potential or how he was curbbed and changed over the years.

It’s the same with Setsuka SC3 was pretty much isolated in terms of platform but there’s such a demand for her even by casuals (and she wasn’t even in 5)

I don’t mind Amy but she needs to stay second to Raphael, his SC2 version needs to make an appearance to show the player base why he’s a show runner for the rapier.

I discovered the Soul series with the 3 my brother had it. I 1st played it there and Cervantes was my favorite my 1st main, I liked Raph too but cervantes, as just so much cooler to me. Then I bought it and the 2nd one and was kinda disappointed with Sc2 compared to the 3rd. I played Raph in that one for a while but didn't find it fun, a'd I picked back my man Cervantes for instant fun xD.
I always liked Raph's desing and weapon but never his style.

And then SC4 came and I kept playing Cervantes till I unlocked Amy and then I tested her.... And felt il love with her gameplay instantly it was exactly what I wanted, I played the game soo long (even Broken destiny) just because of her lol. SC5 cooled me a lot but but cervantes was there Viola had some of Amy's moves and was fun, but even with Amy gone Raph was still boring, cool looking as hell but boring xD

In My Defence:
Most of us are from several countries that don't have English as their native language. There are problems in translation or interpretation and often phrases can be interpreted in the wrong way, I thought that member said did not know that Rock/Astaroth are called White/Black Giant respectively and simply responds that they have this nickname in SC III.
I'm so far trying to understand why my phrase was seen as aggressive or something.

Maybe it was down to what you wanted as a player?
Amy has always been outrageously flashy while Raphael was always strategically flashy.

I would personally say there is a lot of thinking with Raphael when compared to amy, being able to grasp his agility as well as his offensive manuvers is tricky.
But when done, oh man <3.

I like Amy, but I feel she doesn’t have depth like Raphael... viola is better

I still want to know why Tira attacked him and what came of that... Namco has always Curbbed this guy.

*sigh*

(and she wasn’t even in 5)

The moveset returned. It was Alpha Patroklos. They just didnt want to age most of the females if they didnt have to and decided it made better sense to give her moveset to the new character idea they were writing up.

Setsuka is popular but when you consider the reasons why that is it becomes a bit more clear. Her movelist was very strict and difficult in terms of timing and execution, making her a favorite among the hardcore crowd in particular. People who will care far less than most of ya'll exactly what character model uses the weapon. Especially when we have CAS...

Anyway, i'm aware there are plenty of people who will jump down my shit with "I like Setsuka for the character!" That doesnt matter, comparatively speaking its still less so the case than other characters. I'm fairly confident we can expect Setsuka to return for this game one way or another.

Oh, and no.... not all characters need to have a spot on damn story mode list and no, it doesnt matter how many "spaces" are on the character select screen either. Mark already cleanly said over the weekend it isnt indicative of the final roster. Yet people are still going on and on over that like its a puzzle.

Their profile has been updated on the website, under the artwork has the name of the Seiyū.
Did you capitalize "Seiyū" because it's a Japanese word, and therefore better than others...? X)

Jk. The Japanese do that all the time in English, idk why.

Asta's JP voice is better, but I hate both. I would rather put sc5 Raphmare voice over. Much deeper and sinister.

Am I the only one who think we will have Yun-Seong back and that Hwang will be a CaS in Mi-Na story mode ?
No. Before the Seong Mi-na reveal, there were likely far more people who were expecting Yun-seong being the only Korean to make a return, perhaps, due to the style needing to make a comeback. With the Seong Mi-na reveal, though, there are now more Hwang supporters because it kinda makes more sense that way. It could go either way, really, as it's up to Project Soul at the end of the day, but I don't get why they would tease Cervantes, Lizardman, and now Hwang (in Seong Mi-na's bio at Soul Archive JP), if they weren't going to include them. That just seems mean.

@WindupSkeleton I'm not sure if you were saying I wasn't being civil, or if you were just using my post as an example, but I don't personally think I've been anything less than civil. I may not be an alien, time traveler, or even an esper, but all I've done is read between the lines and use the series history and lore to make informed speculation. Both past and present. I get what you're saying, that someone might take my post to say that Hwang is confirmed, but that's not what I said, I said it's likely to come to pass. Maybe "confirmed" is too strong a word, as it has specific connotations, and I should choose my words more carefully, but I don't state my speculations as fact, because they're not. I know that, you know that, and I believe that most people who read my posts know that, but I apologize if I'm somehow causing problems, all I aim to do is contribute to the conversation.

Yes and no, Setsuka is popular, but not insanely popular, Alpha Pat was definitely a very rushed addition, it was used probably as a cope out for the lack of characters in V.

I still am of the opinion she and Hilde are the most likely DLC characters, cuz they are popular but not insanely so, they have unique style that are very technical and the implementation could use more polish and all that.

Is Seiyū an offensive term? I don't want to be seen as the Wicked Witch of the West again. D:

Amy is really slippery and fast compared to Raphael that have a lot of useless pause in his movements that completely break the general flow of the character you can call it strategic I call it a mistake, there is a reason he isn't even competitive with his moves being just okay at best (he even have some really useless moves like his slow stab in all 4 directions, what's the point of that move he could have something far better than that)
I love the combo potential of Amy and Viola I always liked that in fighting games even if a combo does like no damage xD that's just my style of play that why I want that back and right now SC6 makes me sad, really hope I get it back cuz I really don't care that much about the story that I'm just gonna play once.

It is a common noun, not a proper noun. Whether you're evil or not remains to be seen. ;))

Characters I think we can more or less say will be in the game:

Tira: I think we can more or less soft confirm just because of the unique weapon style and Deco working with project soul. I don't think we will see her though until Tokyo Game Show in September.

Cervantes: In the story mode and already designed, Ivy in the game, the original antagonist, silhoutte for him already exists, pistol mention in ESRB rating.

Lizardman: The weapon is a bit more unique and they wouldn't do this for no reason. Possibly could be a hidden character like in previous games, seen as two different versions in story mode artwork, kind of a mascot character.

Inferno: This is going to be the mimic for the game and will probably be unlockable. Hopefully it's not on the current roster list (the mention by markman makes me think this is the reason the list might not be everything (along with DLC). Has an actual character model in the cutscenes for the story trailer.

Hwang (or a reworked Yun-Seong): It's hard to tell (google translate not exactly the most accurate) but possibly a hint in Seong Mi-Na's story blurb on the japanese website. They wouldn't mention it if they weren't planning on using it. He was also one of the most requested characters from V. The fact he has as much popularity as he does despite the number of titles he was actually in says quite a bit I think.

New Character: Chances are high of this being the rumored Groh's dad but they could pull a fast one and have one normal new character and one new boss character.

Wishful Thinking:

Raphael (OR) Cassandra: I think one of these characters will be in the base roster and while I believe Cassandra would work best as the Bonus DLC character it could go either way. Cassandra is the more popular character but that also makes her most likely for DLC bait.

DLC: Raphael/Cassandra (Bonus Season Pass), Hilde, Setsuka, Guest 2 (Probably something no one expects or 2B)

By the way...weeks ago Hayate said that he went crazy since some source leaked him lots of characters. What happened with that?
Just wait a little more... I didn't talked about it because I don't like claiming stuff without crossing it with some other informations.

I did gives mostly of my info to Vergeben, then I get contacted before evo. There is only 6 characters lefts sot it's also easier.

Just trying to compile all my info in a way and I will give my final list, not that crazy, since the reveal of Seung Mina who opened the door.
