But its confirmed that there will be a second guest. Automata's popularity and the recent Xbox One release makes her a very likely candidate. That's likely how Ezio was predicted to be in SCV. Besides, at this point, the roster has already been decided. If she's in, she's in. If not, oh well

Wow. So either he confirmed said guest character or he is using geralt as an example.

I think Geralt shouldve been revealed at EVO alongside Mina and Asta for that extra wow omg factor. Imo though

It isn't backwards because the mindset is the discovery of the pros and cons of the characters. If all you do is create a meta sheet you're basically stripping out the fun aspect of this. I've seen this happen with the Dark Souls community, it's all about meta builds for PvP and invasions. It makes everyone play the same and look the same.
 
Nobody bother using Street Fighter as an example. The community for that game sucks. Forcing people to actually integrate a scholarly component into their respective communities will only strengthen them in the end.

We've absolutely got people here up to the task who actually enjoy doing that stuff, so I'm with Okubo on that one.

Hmmm i dont know, not more than Dark Souls characters i think. That has been popular for a while now and is still relevant with the recent remaster. They also dont need any complicated deals as its Namco's property. Plus you know.... Dark Souls characters are actually more appropriate being gothic / midieval fantasy rather than an android.

I actually think Geralt was pressured to be revealed by The Witcher Team, specially with the teasing and rumors already on happening. Consider this along with the fact as far as new characters added his was the last one.

He is on the cover art though, i think it makes sense to get the word out asap of his inclusion so people who otherwise wouldn't buy it can know and plan their budget accordingly. When were Ezio and Star Wars characters confirmed in relation to their respective game's release?
 
I understand that there's a good chance one of the DLC is a guest.

I still will hope that isn't the case with all my heart. that 4th slot can be used for a classic who didn't make the base roster.

It's quite obvious now that a beta test will not be coming because reading between the lines it seems like Bandai Namco is putting massive pressure on the team to release the game on time. It's understandable considering maximizing sales in the first couple of weeks in a specific time window of the year is extremely important. If you've ever followed game development on other games you will know the importance of this so it's important to note that if broken mechanics are found once the game is released don't lose your shit over it, just point it out and it should be patched quickly.

I already posted a screenshot showing how Maxi lost the round after his fly-kick on Siegfried - confirmation the game is already broken - but has so far been completely ignored in this topic.

All questions aimed at Okubo so far appear to lack any empathy: nobody has asked about him, the kind of pressures he is facing as well as how he interacts with his team and what kind of internal challenges they have faced. Nobody has asked him what they are doing to celebrate the 20th anniversary, if there's an archive available for all things SoulCalibur, and whether will we get a behind-the-scenes making of part VI.

Yeah i dont get how that confirms anything. The word "potential" i think means a hypothetical discussion about anyone and he has to specify the "other company" in that hypothetical discussion because they would both get spammed. Where on that statement is there a confirmation on anything?

Yes, everyone thinks it's by design.

And if the team doesn't like it, they can remove it before release. Okubo has said that they watched the top 8, so they definitely would have seen it.

If he doesn't say "other company" then it will heavily imply Dark Souls, which he obviously doesnt want to do that. If it isnt then he is telling the truth but if it is, he still has to say "other company" to make sure the statement is obscure enough people wont conclude that.
 
Okubo liked Party Wolf's Kilik! It was nice to see that old school monument K... A lot of SC1 stuff survives in SC6 and gets a new lease of life to carry it into the current esports era.

What the saddest loss since SC1? I think it's Mitsu's 214A unblockable - almost as sad as losing Ogre and True Ogre.

Er. But FromSoft IS another company. Having a publishing deal with Bandai-Namco doesn't change that.

And Dark Souls is hardly B-N's only IP. They could also have guests from the "Tales of" series or from Tekken, among others.
