Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Well we don't know for sure just yet, but those creepy blue-and-albino anime rejects may have something to do with it. But if it means Sophitia can swallow at least once, we know she's safe.
Explained in further detail here:

To get right to a source, this is the original reason why people starting calling it a reboot: Okubo, the producer, said it himself. As well as that, he has stated that it's a "retelling of the original Soulcalibur era, adding and changing things". Now, in general if you're going to retell anything and it contains brand new information, that in itself will automatically create a new universe (the New Timeline). The easiest way to explain this to anyone who has trouble understanding it is to think of Mortal Kombat (2011), that game (as stated by Ed Boon) was a retelling of the first three Mortal Kombat games, adding new information and changes, but it also rebooted the series, much like Soulcalibur VI.

No one pulled the phrase "It's a reboot" out of thin air. Okubo has stated that maybe reboot is the wrong word to use, but regardless it is a New Timeline and it's continuity is separate from that of Soul Edge to Soulcalibur V. Reboot, Soft-Reboot, Retcon, whatever you want to call it, it's a New Timeline.

So basically the old rules don't apply if they don't want it to.

How about the 13th?

Edit: Sorry, mistake, Tokyo Game Show is 20th xD
Let's think it through. Currently I and many other believe we have 5 more characters to be revealed: Inferno, Cervantes, Raphael, Hwang and Lizardman. Chances are there will be no trailer for Inferno since he is a mimic and also probably an unlockable surprise, the rest though will definitely have their trailers. The last reveal we had was Azwel revealed at August 25th. The game will be released October 19, TGS is indeed stats September 20th. Here is a calendar we need to fill:

I said Raphael fans breaking sweat quote might mean they will reveal him dead last one day before the game is released. I was half serious, half joking. I think they will reveal Raphael last, but not one day before October 18th. One day before the release is when launch trailers are usually dropped full of hype cut-scenes and cool stuff from all across the entire game, so October 18th is the Launch Trailer time. Now we need to distribute our character reveals evenly throughout the timeline. Cervantes I believe will be revealed first since they've already leaked his style while TGS deserves a double reveal. Let's put remaining Lizardman (Aeon) and Hwang on September 20th when TGS starts. Now we need to put Cervantes on a Thursday right between Azwel and TGS, while we also need to put Raphael on a Thursday right in-between TGS and a Launch Trailer day. Ta-dam!

Agreed. We need this game to sell well

So far the response from people who've had the pleasure of being able to play the early builds of the game have been very positive overall. I think that the production and development team will outweigh the missteps of the people in charge of marketing their hard work. Dispite these bad practices if the game is good people will know about it right away through social media when it releases. Hopefully the response stays positive to help sway back the people who are still currently lashing out. The potential is definitely there, they just need to play these next two months very smart.

I guess my beef with mimics is if you’re going to bother pushing the pen, don’t do it for “5%”.
Especially when there’s more that could, can or should be done.

SC5 had three mimics, the thought of them spending more time on one when characters could be brought back or re-established just pushes the wrong buttons for me.

Sorry if I sound a little unreasonable to some of you but 3 mimics had me triggered in SC5 with all the character cuts.

Hell I’d prefer it if they made more CAS parts!

Just wondering when ("if") Lizardman gets revealed, what will all the people who were so sure he was cut and thought he was redundant going to say?

I'll be pleased as Punch. Still maintaining my doubts though. It's a defensive measure.

Not that I ever thought he was redundant.

I'll say wth, because what's the point of having a main character as a race as well when you can just make your own in cas. Leave him as a race and leave a open spot for another character. He can't even talk either.
