Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

My Fu-Ma powers & Okubo's Twitter account tell me its tomorrow.
3.0

I’m thinking about upgrading to a GTX 1080 Ti, even though I only have a 1080p display for now...

Maybe I will upgrade my display later...

I wonder how good SCVI will look with it...

I may not be following you. It lists a lot of in battle occurrences, such as GI, RE, etc... would you suggest there is an annoying text box that pops up everytime something happens?
I don't know what else it would be. Like I said, the first 8 CAS voices are recycled from SCV, which would mean they'd have to rehire the same actors. And I really don't think they would the have the main cast voice actors to say such generic lines. Also, it would cost more money, which we can see some corners have already been cut.

Don't get me wrong, it would be amazing if we could customize like that. But it doesn't seem realistic. Proof would have to come from a video for me. Not some random article.

I just realized after they posted the Ivy Witcher contract that she is probably the character closest to being a sorceress for the game. I will be very disappointed if the two characters do not encounter one another.

This.

I've heard plenty of people say it might just be text but I've yet to hear a reasonable explanation of how it would be implemented in any kind of worthwhile way if it was.

I dont have any programming knowledge of any sort but it sounds like it would be more work to implement a pointless feature like that rather than just allow players to shuffle around the recorded voice options.

while that's true it's just as odd that they would
1. have reused voices from other games that don't seem to be re-recorded
2. have all those voice lines for even the main roster
3. have ALL those voice lines, cause there's allot, especially for over 30 voices.

the simplest answer is it's text.

Sure, I understand your point. But I still can't imagine a way that these text lines would appear during a battle. Speech bubbles? White subtitle text? Just seems pointless unless it's audio.

it would be easier to have a feature that just plays an audio file based on context than to implement text that appears on screen, also ins't distracting, has a purpose or whatever...

however you're skipping a very important step, those lines never existed for the old voices
and there's allot of them which are all the same on the voices we have seen. it would be WAY more work and cost way more to record all those lines in all those voices and then do the simpler context based audio playback.

that's the only thing we aren't sure of, although doesn't the game already do something like that? doesn't it say on screen if something is a lethal hit, guard impact, critical edge, ect... so...

I know. I mean, did you play the beta? REs alone mean a constant text bubble the entire match and where the fuck would they put it?

All i'll say is there had better be a way to turn that shit off completely if its text. Seriously.

>final mode is just network
ugh, should have expected it wasn't anything special
how pointless keeping it hidden this long

It would be like a dream come true if battle comments are audio instead of text. Seems unrealistic, but what else could the guy mean in the article? He specifically said he chose which lines fit his character and chose the voice for them to be spoken from. How can that be a mistake..? Unless it's just a flat-out lie. Which also doesn't make sense.

Do we know for a fact what did and didnt exist for the old voices though? I assume we are just going off what we heard in SC5 right? Or is there some other source of information? Could it be possible they recorded all VAs doing everything maybe intending for this feature but just never got around to it?

If it's for SC6, then a 1080 Ti would be super overkill. If I max out everything in Tekken 7 I get a constant 60fps with my 1080 at 2560x1440. It's the same for 4k, unless I play a match with 2 Kumas, then I'll finally get framedrops.

I think they're trying to tell you something: don't get your hopes up or they will crush them :p
this is usually my stance on things
it's really odd it was hidden THIS long though... like they already revealed it weeks ago so it seemed like it would be something else given they were updating the site for all other news, oh well. It wasn't like I was expecting a new story mode or something, was really just hoping for a challenge mode like soul arena or something so it's not a huge deal. Oddly enough there is another mode, "BATTLE" which isn't listed at all

Casual match sounds awesome, no ranked play pressure and chilling with friends.
Cannot wait for Yoshi and Cerv, they look beastly. Geralt too, gonna have to abuse Quen and Igni as usual.

Ranked match is expected. I just hope has a better system than SCV's. A1 meant jackshit. It just meant players grinded Rank a lot and some were lousy players

Casual Match sounds like it was renamed from Player Match, but can make a lobby with with 8 players. Damn, sometimes 6 players seemed like too much, now its 8? LOL. I'm also interested to know why it's named "Casual." My guess is it allows CaS, but Ranked won't, which is fine with me.

No Global Colossem, but I won't miss that. I started to hate some of the players in there and stopped going altogether.

With replay, it may work like SCV's, but this gen of consoles can already record footage easily. More options, I guess.

I can't wait to hop online

Come on now, there's no way those custom voice lines are just text. That would be utterly pointless and way worse than just not including custom lines at all.

I imagine that each voice simply has one or two dozen custom lines, and you choose which situation those lines are used in. What's so complicated about that?

If I recall correctly, there is a tooltip at the bottom of the screen of some of the movelists we've seen so far where it's explained what the LH condition is.

I hope they support steam invites for the casual lobbies. I don't understand their explanation of replays, though. What do they mean you can view the replay data of "others who downloaded it"? Is that saying you can only download view the replays of people who have downloaded your replays? But then how do they download your replays in the first place? It sounds like there's been a mistranslation here and they meant to say "or view the replay data of others who uploaded it".
