Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I'm not overly bothered by RE, but I would prefer it not being part of the game. Another change I would have liked to see is shorter CE animations. I feel like every time a CE connects it's like a mini-intermission.

I answered 5* cause i had to but really all those weren't super heavy disappointment for me.

For the most part, I made mention of the lack of equipment/armor since they already know about the online match issues. I gave mostly positive or affirmative answers.

I do love what they did with Ivy. I really like Grøh, and 2B makes me smile.

I kinda didn't get the collectors because I wanted a silver Sophitia statue like EU got. I mentioned that if it were Ivy, it would have been a done deal and that's why I at least preordered at Gamestop for the figpin. She's alive again so I get why they did it.

I said it was slightly balanced because I tried to keep things in mind like Azwel's backdash.

I'm happy with the game and my answers weren't shilling or whatever. I'm glad they asked certain things like what tournaments I watched and what game I started with.

EDIT: I forgot to ask about stages. RIP

If there is something i would change in the game is banning created characters in Rank. And even this isn't bothering me that much so far (but that wasn't the case in SC5 lol)

It asks for up to 5. You don't have to list 5.

Overall I think SCVI is fantastic, and the best SoulCalibur since SCII. Even with fewer characters, a dearth of stages and no 2P costumes; the game delivers in every field where it really matters. Okubo made incredibly smart decisions on where their budget went, and I couldn't be happier with the game.

Well, except for RE. RE still sucks.

PS4. 10-10 wired connection with unacceptable lag in 7 out of 10 matchups.

Hmm ouch. Its been such a long time since i've played fighting games that i dont have anything to compare this with. I remember SC5 was considerably better than SC4 but that isnt saying much.

I cant say how good or bad PC is because i havent played that.

Isnt it common that fighting games have network issues to begin with but they eventually improve over time? I know i've heard of that more than a couple times.

I meant about question 5, you can't skip you have to answer it.

Totally agree with this.

In case if no one got the artbook, here it is.

Cool, haven't watched all the video but i guess all those are in the museum mode.

Made a quick watch, not all of them are, but most of the stuff is. I'd have liked to see more artwork in there, but I must say the book is excellently presented and made judging from the video. Wish I could have got it.

At least now I know it wasn't worth it. Maybe they will publlish a better artbook? Like the one for SC5? That is a fantastic book.
Well, SoulCalibur V's artbook doubled as a lorebook because the game was seriously lacking. You can't really say that about SoulCalibur VI.

I am mostly displeased with the collector's edition, though. Sophitia's figure has a pretty bad paint job, especially on the shield, and the sword is just solid grey plastic and looks shoddy because of it. I don't understand how this figure maker's figures usually go for $90, they really don't seem worth that. The art book is just a lesser compilation of the artwork that is available in the game. The steelbook that talks is really dumb. The soundtrack is just a sampler.

Granted, I'm still glad to give them money to show my support, I hoped for better offerings. SoulCalibur V's behind the scenes DVD was pretty nice.

SC5 artbook has a lot of unused concept designs for the characters and sketches. This one has only the designs for the outfits that made it into the game.
I mean, yes, true, but that's also equal to the game's offerings, so the other designs may not even exist, for all we know. No 2ps, no alt designs either, since it wasn't even in the budget, they didn't bother, it's possible. SoulCalibur V didn't have an in-game gallery at all, so it's hard to say for sure.

You cant just design final designs straight away, especially these are pretty decent and detailed. Thats a necessary and unavoidable part of game developement

Please tell them what you think so they (might) can update things in the future!

Wow that survey is directly asking for which characters feel too strong and are unbalanced :p
Obviously they wont use this as the sole criteria for balance changes
I made sure to say that the Tournament scene was a driving force for me to purchase.

They even ask about the grammar and dialogue in different language. In order to help our "leaks" out from the localization teams, I supposed I'm compelled to give them extra points.

Where's Soul Calibur Pachislot, Broken Destiny, Legends, and Unbreakable Soul ??

Its kinda telling that they have to explain to you what Unemployed means.

You can be damned sure I let them know how restrictive the current command mapping (rather than button mapping) option is.

For the survey, to summarise, I said the game was awesome in some regards and kinda saved the series given what we had before, but key elements were missing while they should have been included in order to have an even better game: adding unique styles, previous CaS parts,... I mentioned that 2Ps were really appreciated but their absence is somewhat balanced by customisation options. I also mentioned that, while beautiful, stages are too few and too empty (and they should get rid of the blur)... that's about it ^^
