Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

It must be nice to have cognitive dissonance, y'all are either full of it or abide the delusions of others.

Is it tiring? Yes. Does it make me angry? No. I definitely beat more Ivy's on Ranked again, I had more troubles with Tira, sadly.

I could never fathom being bad or entitled enough to think everything must cater to me because I'm too frustrated or lazy.

I don't understand the function of Soul Charge teleports. I know supers beat most things and moves realign if you press a button but if I do teleport behind you, usually after or during a move, why does it auto-correct? I've also had issues with minor inconsistencies with hits or placement of characters.

That actually includes digital sales! I thought NPD was always physical sales. #6 in that list doesn't seem bad at all. I would be curious to see how it fared in Europe and Japan with digital sales included. Especially curious about Japan considering physical sales of SC6 has been very lacklustre there.

The NPD Group started to include digital sales along with physical sales in the US starting in July 2016.

I don't know about Europe & Japan tracking digital sales.

But what are the numbers
Well, we don't get to know the exact numbers, but it's very promising that it's #6 in that list of really big titles and the third most profitable SC launch ever. The UK sales info was close to useless because it didn't include digital sales.

What i'd really like to know is how this compares with Tekken 7.
This doesn't let us directly compare to SC6, but we have some info here:
https://venturebeat.com/2017/07/20/...nd-injustice-roundhouse-kick-the-sales-chart/
https://venturebeat.com/2017/08/17/july-2017-npd-splatoon-2-paints-a-pretty-picture-for-nintendo/

It was number #1 for the month it was released and then #20 for the next month. #1 is impressive, but note that Tekken 7 was released during the summer which rarely sees huge titles (the only other big new releases that month was Crash Bandicoot and Arms), while SC6 got released in the busiest month of the year (it was up against RDR2, Call of Duty, NBA, FIFA, AC: Odyssey and other gigantic titles).

For the year thus far it said #5 on PS and #9 on Xbox. I'd say that is good enough proof the game is doing well. More so than looking just at Oct.

lol not to sound pessimistic, but i think this is the last soul game we're getting. I'd be fine with that long as we get Setsuka. My current hope is for s2 DLC. To be thinking about the next game from now sounds like wishful thinking to me.

Yeah, the game was a success, but we're totally not getting more. Nice logic +1.

SC4 was one of the most successful games in the franchise and how did Namco react? They disbanded the team after the Broken Destiny port was done. It's good to see SC6 seems to be doing well in the US and that's hopeful when it comes to more games or DLC, but I never underestimate how nonsensical Namco can be.

Its never been successful in japan though and i think that is primarily why they didnt care about it.

Things seem different now. They appear to be more directly involved globally and connected with the community through social media.

Granted, we don't know digital sales in Japan, but physical sales doesn't seem great. After nearly one month it's sold only 35,590 physical copies in Japan (Tekken 7 sold 58k copies after one week).

Edit: Comparison against SC5 in Japan:
https://gematsu.com/2012/02/media-create-sales-013012-–-020512 - 34,328 after one week

Oh i know, i'm totally expecting this game to tank in japan. Always has and always will. The only hope in turning that around is guest characters i think. 2B kind of helps with that. If they can select guests that appeal somewhat to both asian and western gamers, that would be best.

Anyway what i was saying is i think they already know and have come to terms with the fact japanese players will not care about this series but they appear ready to support it regardless. At least it looks that way to me right now because of how involved and engaged they seem to be.
