Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

There really should be some way of telling the room host why the shit is all dank and why you're leaving. Some people just play like rabid gnome-tits despite winning or losing, sucking the fun out of it. Here's a load of suggestions for the "HELL NO" chat menu:

"You repeat moves like I repeat breaths."
"You're the five hundreth identical Ivy I've played in the last hour."
"Learn to block or I'll literally kill myself and it'll be on your conscience."
"Your salty overkill tears gives me major vital organ failure."
"I'm reading you like I read my ex's SMS texts, full of predictable shit and psychotic aggression."

1. I like this first one. It's a great roast honestly.
2. Don't meet many Ivy myself
3. Bit overkill man.
4. I don't understand the logic of this but sure.
5. I'm too flat to be popular enough with potential partners, So I can't relate XD

You should be able to type normally or just chat in a room like in SC5.. why the hell did they decide to replace it with messages you can choose from? Could it maybe be to avoid people saying dumb shit?

Did it occur to you, that I just wanna fight that I know what to expect and I just dont have the ability to reacted in time.
Honestly from this quote I can’t tell if you’re just struggling to react to your opponents openings in order to punish them or you’re just not willing to take a challenge and learn something you haven’t yet in this game. Part of the fighting game is to learn and experiment with new things and tools that you haven’t tried before. That’s if you’re referring to the latter. If it’s the former then I suggest you go into practice and improve your reaction time to aid your punishment game, same can apply to your GI and RE timing.
I never said I lose to them all the time
Ironically all your bitching about these two has been making it out that you’ve been getting your ass kicked by them 24/7.

its the way some players use them that makes nightmare the way I hate him.
Again, learn to adapt to the situation at hand. Search for an opening in their gameplan with NM and Sieg and exploit it. Otherwise you’ll just end up becoming stuck playing the match their way instead of yours or even playing field.
Which why 90% of my fights ended up being those 2 because he cheap and over powered and so on also Fuck nightmare.
Very many individuals may play Nightmare and Siegfried in 6. But how many of those players are actually good with them and would actually make an impact in the competitive scene? It wouldn’t take long to figure out their vulnerabilities. Even then, you could figure out those problems just by touching them in training mode. Hell, there are discord servers that can get you the help you need if you’re REALLY struggling to find a solution to the problem you’re in. If all you’re going to do is bitch about Nightmare because you’re too lazy to look for a solution to his moveset then you’re just going to constantly...

Everyone's got their preconceived notion of what is an appropriate or "honorable" way to play a videogame. Whats far more toxic than "spammers" or "cheap" players is aggressive and offensive attitudes coming from salty players that dont like how others play their game, running their mouths and shit either over the mic or on messages hiding behind the internet. Makes me miss arcades. Even when i was a little kid and not capable of defending myself, i never felt threatened by older kids or young adults over a videogame.

It’s not just young adults, it’s also little kids over the mic sometimes too. Why parents let their children play online to begin with I will never know.

A little bit of saltiness is ok. I mean dont get me wrong, sure shit is annoying, and of course i realize the knee-jerk reaction sometimes just comes out, no big deal. You know, irritated sighs, head shakes or eyerolls, fine, no problem.

Its the insults, bitching or prolonged complaining and then also if you took the time to type out a message to let me know how terrible i am at a videogame.

You know.... i hate Taki. Im a scrub ok, i'll admit it. As soon as she gets in my face with all that possession bullshit, forget about it, i might as well put down the controller. A decent player will lock me down into turtle-mode and then proceed to UB or throw the shit out of me because i'm to scared to push anything besides block. It is what it is, i already know if i took the time to go through Taki's movelist, i would probably know her possession options a lot better and be able to deal with that. But since im not bothering with it, obviously isnt annoying enough yet and im sure as hell not going to get on Taki players' case about it for playing their favorite character. Her position on the tier list doesnt matter. If i dont know the matchup while my opponent does, and they know how to exploit opponents that dont know both characters, then they can and should win.

You realize that a drop-off happens with every fighting game, right? Even the DBFZ lost 90% of its players on PC within the first two months.
Playerbase dropping after launch happens with almost every game, but this is one hefty drop. Tekken 7 settled at around 3,000 players after two months. SF5 settled at around 1-2 thousand players after a few months. I wonder if it's because a lot of people went in looking for singleplayer content and then stopped playing once they finished it, or if it's people not satisfied with the online play (it is honestly ridiculous ranked matchmaking has been broken for this long).

Need I remind people that Steam Charts are only representative of Steam. Not trying to dismiss that the player base is low I'm simply putting into perspective that with every game you only have part of the data so it's inconclusive. I mean a few hours ago at NEC 19 it was reported by Omega XCN that there are over 300 plus attendees at the Soul Calibur 6 tournament (at 26:37).

How are all of you playing your online ranked matches? I'm in the midwest on xbox and have never had a problem, or at least very rarely. It doesnt always pair me with similar ranks but i figure that is just because there isnt always someone available.

I also have never actually used the network option directly. All my matches come from the standby option in training and i almost never wait more than 20 seconds for a match. Options set at same region, prioritize 4 bars.

UK here, so far it's paired me from seed to C rank and I have really good connection and low ping for the most part and that's with the any setting. I do have to check if it's my internet that causing problems which does happen that can be easily sorted with a router reset. Matches are frequent even in the early hours of the morning which also gives me the best connections for matches. I tried worldwide once and got paired up with someone from Australia. I'll never do that again, input delay was around a second, felt like I was going though SC6 menus.

Is there a forum or website where i can easily find character combos listed instead of forums where people DISCUSS combos? Thx in advance

Probably check the technical gameplay. Or y'know ask one of the pros. Or just make your own thread in the characters discussion. Ask people I guess.
