Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I'm creating a montage video of all supers in SC. And since I have footage of all them I figured it would be fun to compare how long they are. So I made a list of the shortest and longest CEs/CFs:

SC4:
Shortest: 10:48 (Seong Mi-Na)
Longest: 16:54 (Maxi)

SC4: (against Yoda)
Shortest: 9:28 (Darth Vader)
Longest: 11:41 (Zasalamel)

SC5:
Shortest: 2:37 (Cervantes)
Longest: 8:02 (Dampierre)

SC6:
Shortest: 11:11 (Tira Jolly)
Longest: 24:15 (2B low health)

SC6: (ignoring alternate CEs)
Shortest: 12:38 (Ivy)
Longest: 17:17 (2B)

Rough estimates for average length:
SC4: 12:30
SC5: 5:00
SC6: 14:45

I've always thought they made the super animations last too long in SC6, and this makes it all the more apparent. This is with the extended SC6 CEs, but even if you remove the extra few seconds those add they're still super long compared to the SC5 ones, and also longer than the ones in SC4 (which you only ever saw at the end of a round, never in the middle of one).

Fuck that shit; I call BS on those claims.
He's most likely correct on Cass and Janemba being announced, but again, both of those characters have already been leaked/datamined (Xbox's social media leaked Janemba, for those unaware).
Considering his track record, he's probably using 1 or 2 correct things to make himself seem credible while throwing in a bunch of made-up stuff.

Uggh. I was hoping if they ever did put Samurai Showdown characters, we'd get Nakoruru or someone you know.... different. Instead they're just gonna go with Haomaru. What is that like basically Mitsurugi with wind effects?

Assuming that is legit of course.

Even if this Haohmaru rumor is true, I feel like it would just be CaS parts. He's too similar to Mitsurugi.

Or Bandai Namco really just wants a quick buck from people who will spend 3-6 months max playing SCVI just to use a guest who won't ever return, thus creating a short term customer. What don't they understand about crafting a player base?

However, Vergeben is not trustworthy in the slightest. He got quite a few things right just before and right after SCVI was announced but he gave us consistently bad info in the months leading up to release. Not saying the guy is inventing his leaks but whoever he gets his info from is either way down the line at BN/PS or just an industry gossip who manages to get SOME correct leaks.

If that Samurai Showdown guy would actually be in the game it would be such a big joke. This is literally Mitsurugi 2.0 lol

Edit: if it’s just the costume i still don’t think it makes sense. Might aswell give us sc2 mitsurugi costume.. i’d prefer a complete other characters costume from Samurai Showdown. Anyway, i’ll take anything new at this point

Most of these look like piggybacks from prior datamines/leaks mixed with some new info. I don't believe it for a second.
Agreed, it's the usual schtick of playing the odds on speculation/information already known and selling it as some sort of inside info. Why someone would choose something so low stakes to push obvious flimflam on, I can't imagine, but this has the usual odour all over again.

I've always thought they made the super animations last too long in SC6, and this makes it all the more apparent. Unfortunately, it's not just the CEs. There's so much about this entry that just has you sitting and watching instead playing. REs that take you out of the normal and traditionally quite enjoyable flow of combat for quick time contests (typically not once but twice in a row), a second panic button function in Soul Charges that blow opponents back and stall the rough and tumble, and the needlessly overlong CEs. I swear, sometimes I feel like I spend more time watching a match I am meant to playing rather than actual contesting it--especially online where newbs abuse the shit out of the horrible netcode (and the fact that no matter what you set your matchmaking settings to, you can still be matched against some twat with a two bar connection playing on wifi) in order to spam unending unsteppable REs in order to harvest meter for countless CEs.

Ugh, it's so tedious and so destructive of the historical advantages/qualities of the franchise. I really don't care what the consensus here is: this is definitely one of the weaker entries in the franchise when it comes to the core mechanics. I love the expanded arsenal of moves that Soul Charge and the current mappings allow for, but other than that, this game is another huge step backwards for the series when it comes to the basic rhythm and enjoyability of the fighting in context. So much cinematic flash to tickle the interest of the casuals, but at the cost of the traditional (mostly fast-paced) ebb and flow that the brand was built on.

Most characters from that game wouldnt work. The only popular ones i can think of that would is Nakoruru and maybe Earthquake. Everyone else is too similar to what we already have.
