Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Still dreaming about TeamBattle mode in SoulCalibur VI...

Yeah, about those loading screens:
Unlike SoulCalibur IV, SCVI does not load the following opponents very quickly. So I decided to pot in the loading screen some information about the next character.
The loading time for a new character is only 2 seconds (at least on PC), so I'm thinking character info on the loading screen isn't necessary for how short it is. That said, it is silly how in SC4 and SC5 you would get the next opponent immediately rather than needing loading (and in SC4 you could also instantly tag between 2 characters), but in SC6 you have to load for every single character. I imagine this is more to do with the development team not wanting to do spend time adding support for multiple characters in memory than technical limitations, though.

I would be really happy if they ever added team battle mode to SC6. I got a small taste of how it could be by doing Hilde's Soul Chronicle in co-op using a mod forcing the AI to be human-controlled (skip to 30:17 if it doesn't already start there):

One downside to a team battle mode is that it makes some balance a bit weird. For instance, I'm pretty sure Project Soul designed Amy around normal first-to-three-wins matches. But team battle mode isn't a super-serious mode anyway, so I think that would be fine.

They loads in 2 minutes only in character select, but during a gameplay the download lasts longer

Was the field stage in Hilde's story mode seen in any of the other Soul Chronicles?
I wish it could be playable online, or at least in traning mode.
It's new and it's a variant of the training mode-only stage. I initially found this in the files and I was uncertain what it was about, but then it made a lot more sense once I played through the Soul Chronicle.

We are aware of the following issues in Ver. 2.00/2.01 updates. We are currently investigating and examining these issues for future compatibility support.
The update which includes improvements and modifications that address the aforementioned issues will be released later. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for your continued support.
  • Common to all characters: When a player activates Reversal Edge clash by holding down the buttons, a player will not be able to select “Forward Step”, “Side Step”, or “Back Step” unless the held down buttons are released.
  • Azwel: “Evil Sword’s Embrace” does not play properly under certain conditions in "TRAINING".
  • Yoshimitsu: “Spectral Blade” is not treated as a projectile command.
  • 2B: when the 1st attack of “Mobilize: Piercing Assault (First Class)” hits an opponent in mid-air, somehow the 2nd attack will not hit an opponent in succession.
  • 2B: Guard stamina will not get restored when analysis points are increased by “Suppression: Support Thrust” or “Suppression: Unarmed Leg Throw”
  • Geralt: Difficult to do “Quen Invade” from “Cleaving Pirouette ~ Glyph of Quen”.
  • Geralt: the command input of follow-up attacks from “Splintered Sternum” differs when he is on the 1P side and 2P side.
  • Tira: Cannot do “Killer Cacophony” when she is in Gloomy Coda while not soul charged.
  • Grøh’s fighting style/Kilik’s fighting style: equipment of an original character created with these fighting styles gets damaged when performing a soul charge.
  • With certain command, a player is somehow able to select a training mode “Grand Labyrinth – Sealed Corridor” in “CASUAL MATCH”.
  • Equipment Damage Settings of “Crown Princess Series” are not set.
  • Jump action tends to be accidentally being performed.
  • We have also confirmed other unexpected issues, moves that are much stronger than intended, and some texts missing on the “Battle Adjustment List”.

So I have to agree that Hilde's Soul Chronicle is a real revelation. I mean, it's still hamfistedly written and melodramatically performed, has the same lackluster direction, and cut-rate visual novel production values...but you have to give it points for continuity, in that it provides the perfect explanation for something that was previously inexplicable: Zwei is the way he is because he is the product of a family that indulges liberally in incest. Suddenly the moronic way in which he holds that sword seems a little tragic rather than just ridiculous.

I did notice the Groh thing when the mask of my character would break off. Considering they have both breakage and nonbreakage issues I still don't understand: GIVE US A BREAK/UNBREAK TOGGLE ALREADY. It really opens up a realm of creative possibility to have things break on SC for example.

Also, as cool as it is, I kinda don't like all these new permanent aura things they're pushing on us, at least from a CAS perspective. Can't really play Vergil when he's constantly haveing his arms/sword on fire. :/

@DanteSC3 is the wolf stage in libra of souls at all? It would be a shame if that stage was locked to online and arcade mode only/vs
Nope. New assets continue to not be used in Libra of Soul. None of the DLC has been implemented, aside from the mastery style battles for the titles. You don’t see 2B’s stage either, nor characters fighting with 2B’s, Cassandra’s, Amy’s, or Hilde’s style. You don’t see characters using the new customization parts, even the free ones. It’s a wonder they even use the new mechanics.

A lot of Taki players right now in a nutshell.

does Hilde have a good horizontal mid? having trouble against matchups with the likes of Amy and Taki who are 10x faster than me & eventually learn to sidestep my fast vertical mids, can't seem to find a fast horizontal that they cant high-crush though?

It's a pretty good move, worth abusing it for reasons.
All of Taki's new stuff is a game changer for her which she's needed since release because she's been very disappointing to play up until now. I'm still salty she's still missing her neutral mixup strings but at least her new stuff gives her great versatility and those much needed lows.

I would venture to guess that base game/Season 1 was not expected to do so well, and thus the people doing the coding and data management weren't too serious about hiding stuff.
A stupid and delusional notion, as it seems they greatly underestimated the passion and fervor of the soulcalibur fanbase! They clearly weren't expecting fans to back the game the way they have.
Thus season 2 being a proper effort and taking care of leaks shows they are taking this seriously now!
