Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

i would like to see Natsu back but with another weapon or making her have moves so different than Taki that Natsu can be considered a character on her own.

From a lore standpoint it makes no sense for Natsu to have another weapon, but having a large portion of her moves being different as well as sharing signature moves that have different properties would be ideal.

Sincerely, Leixia is Xianghua 2.0 in all senses, all she needs is to fall in love with Kilik and no one will notice the difference.
Very incorrect. Xianghua had a lot more maturity and her silly playful persona is full of self-awareness and there’s a good amount of depth to her traveling tales that Leixia just does not have. Leixia is a silly sheltered mess of a brat who unironically seemingly wants to love everyone and everything because she has no real world experience and without her guard companions she would absolutely hop into the proverbial van for candy and never be seen again.

Xianglian > Leixin > Xianghua = Leixia > Luna

Just so long as you both realize that hearing a debate about the shades of grey of the deredere in silly Soulcalibur lore is, like, barely a step above two bronies debating who is the best My Little Pony. I mean, I know you guys perceive huge stratifications in this subject matter, but in the larger scheme of things, these characters are all pretty paper-thin and their stories pretty much hackneyed/goofy anime tropes on roids: in terms of meaningful critical analysis of texture in a narrative work, finding the difference between Xiangua and Leixia is about as meaningful as ranking the creativity that went into naming particular smurfs. Some thoughts on the Astaroth art:

• The final design's bracers / boots and shoulder pauldron look like dark iron material. However, in-game looks like some low-res stone texture, and its actually pretty ugly. This was one of the worst outfits in-game.

• I also really don't like how his boots have no soles, it makes me cringe to think about it logically.

While lore-wise Astaroth's cult has a lot of snake symbolism, Astaroth himself is far from serpentine (more like a rampaging elephant)
Ivy definitely embodies more snake motifs, and even Raph.

the 3rd design in the concept art seems to be a nice variant.
  • The mask / snake neck collar and shoulder pauldrons are nearly identical.
  • He has some stitches (which imo was one of the cooler things about SC5 astaroth), and the horns are a bit different.
• He doens't have the red scars/skin tears across his chest / thighs It would have been cooler if he only got those scars when he's soul charged (sort of like Taki and her mystic soul charge tattoos). SC Astaroth gets so jacked up that his enhanced musculature forces him to burst out of his skin at the seams.
• The belt buckle of the 2 coiled snakes is less impressive than the current cobra one.
• The snake skin aesthetic for his bracers/boots look too aquatic (too similar to fish scales rather than snake scales) so it gives off a cervantes vibe

The middle design
• I like the asymmetry of the shoulder pauldron
• The face mask at first glance looks good, but in-game the upward pointing grey prongs would probably look stupid.
• A lot of the hooks on his armor look thin and fragile, rather than being robust tusk-like. It makes him actually look less intimidating
• His boots look like ice climbing crampons

1st design:
• Slightly modified classic Astaroth
• His boots / bracers look the most sleek, though I think the cobras on his toe is a little too much.

Has anyone realized the release pattern in season 2 DLC from the data mine?
The hypothetical Season 3 might see a release pattern as Rock, Guest or Li Long, Yun Seong, Aeon.

Yellow = Season 2 Green = Season 3
Stone = Rock

Yell = Hilde
Star = Yun Seong
Snow = Setsuka
Reptile = Aeon
Yellow = Hwang

Since this code exist since Feb 2019 and now is Sep 2020 many theories are created. I would indicate this thread, however when rereading I saw a mix of posts so I deleted my previous answer.

I would not discard a guest after a recent Okubo tweet.
Assuming that Reptile is Aeon, Stone is Rock so all that is left is Star, which by far can be any character (Algol, Viola and YS are the most mentioned candidates, due to the origin of the name, moveset with reference to stars among other things), even if you try hard this could refer to Dampierre or even Li Long, we will not discard a new character either.

This is a subject on which I have expressed my opinion several times and unless something new comes up, STAR is whatever character you want/like. Anyways I just wanted to review something that until then I never mentioned, many believe that STAR refers to Haohmaru, but I'll just remind people of that detail:

'STAR' has not been used to refer to a guest in the past and I don't see it being used to refer now in the future. Another thing I wanted to mention is the sequence of DLCs based on the Season 2, so I think would be: Reptile - Guest - Star - Stone.

Just to make it clear, I never suggest that DLC could be one of the hentai clones..
The only one with the best chance of a return would be Ashlotte, who until then has not much to do considering the current focus of history.
With no focus on Arthur or Toki / Taki, Kamikirimusi and Shura are two filler characters who could appear as CaS along with other irrelevant characters like Arthur, Miser, Revenant and Li Long.
Scheherazade has a completely accurate history, we all know that 'The Wolf' has died centuries ago, so she has nothing to add unless the Nightmare group attacks the Hidden Village Clan. If they want to bring a character using a broadsword I prefer Salia or Durer.
The last one, Angol Fear is by far more out of nexus, being part of Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunso) I very much doubt she would appear, which in my opinion her absence would not be missed.
