Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

They surely have at least one more planned
They very clearly do not. They haven't touched the game since early December.

For comparison here's a sample of what Tekken currently looks like, and what Soulcalibur used to look like when things were being done.

I feel like we've gone out with a whimper rather than a bang with season 2, at this rate. No last patch to clean things up, no word on season 3, not even teasing anything, damn.
I mean, at least we got 2 seasons out of this game, and a SCVI at all, when Bamco was ready to leave this series for dead. Still hurts tho, to know it's over for now. At least we can look forward to SC7.

SC is in good state, we got SC6 and Bamco supported this game (and it still not sure if there will be no season), the game has done at least 1 millions sales which is very good specially considering it was very low budget game. In the end i think it will be also about sales, if SC6 is still selling with good ratio this will motivate Bamco to another season, so we'll see, in any case SC6 is the best SC period since SC2.

I find this funny, because both Yun Seong and Hwang were drawn using two swords in the arts of SC3, both were made only by the artist's desire, PS was never thinking of changing them that way, but with Xianghua the really thought of the possibility to change her fighting style.
I can't picture Xianghua doing 25B with 2 swords.

Something I was thinking about was Soulcalibur VII. Of course I could bang on for days about how I want more modes (Chronicles of the Sword, etc.), more characters, yadda yadda, but weirdly enough I'm more concerned about what we already have.

I honestly LOVE how Soulcalibur VI handled the Story/Soul Chronicle mode, and I'm just hoping they keep it the same in the next game, especially if they'll be continuing everyone's stories through the events of SCII-IV. It would be really weird to suddenly have a lesser Story Mode or some alternate way of playing it out. I feel like they've created a formula that works really well and that they NEED to stick with now and have be a mainstay in the series, and I really hope they do because it was beautifully done. I actually got emotional in some scenes, even with the questionable voice acting at times, and I really enjoyed getting to know every single character again, and of course the love and care they put into it really sold it. I just rewatched my obvious favourites; Raphael and Amy and it never fails to pull me in, something I've never experienced in a fighting game before.

In a similar sense, the roster is something else that, in order to continue all the plot points they've set up, will have to pretty much be the same, but since some of those (in some cases quite major) plot points were set up via DLC characters, I just hope they are given a big enough budget and time frame to really be able to do it all and that some plots and threads araen't left on weird notes or cliffhangers 'cause they were unable to bring a particular character back.

I'm hopeful (sorry Amy) after Soulcalibur VI, but y'never know :/ the higher ups might just me like "nah, you get a peanut budget again" and then we'd be in trouble. I wish they'd get the resources they need to shine without restrictions.
