Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

2 Millions is pretty solid, and i guess it's even more since the budget of the game was not super high.

In the last Harada x Aoki discussion (Aoki is VF5US producer), Harada said that as long as sales for fighting game are good enough and there will still support of that game, there will be a new game, kind a hint that Tekken 8 and SC7, even tho this was suspected.

I honestly don't mind if SC6 will end support, now after playing some games with instant loading times i found it a bit hard to go back to SC6 and T7, and also hopefully the online will be done right this time, a netcode that would be close or even better if possible of GG strive netcode's.

This is great news. While I don't think we will get a season 3 reveal at Evo 2021, another official world tour keeps the lights on for a possible season 3. Remember, both continued support for fighting games on console and the pandemic are both unprecedented so we are in unknown territory regarding the continued support of SC6. My only concern is if Tekken 7 gets another season and SC6 doesn't as that for me is confirmation development is over.

Looks like SCVI is getting a 2021 Online Challenge. SCVI S3 Rollback Netcode hopes. That's something after nearly 8 months after Hwang's release. MK11 Ultimate got nothing, but a lame Sheeva nerf to tell people the game was dead. MK11 (4/23/19 - 7/2/21) SCVI has outlasted MK11. The best thing about SCVI S3 is that Setsuka's normals will finally disappear & Vernal Reflection will finally be fixed.

um...how about we celebrate S3 being a thing if the day comes where they actually announce it?

I am not convinced we are still getting a S3. I'm just happy we had some recognition from bamco and some sort of update from the team

It's great to hear that SCVI sold well! Hopefully this can guarantee a sequel in the future.
There will be. SC6 sold beyond it's expectations of the suits and we know there's a passionate team that currently make up Project Soul. For me that's all I need to know it's in the bag.

About this art:

Mitsu's face looks like Kawano's artwork but the rest of the body seems like high quality tracing. Groh's got a hand-drawn face, and his sleeve looks really detailed with the creasing.
The rest of the cast pretty much look like stylized tracing, especially of their CE animations.
If you look at characters you can see they still inherit the "giant hands" issue of the models

Nonetheless I'm surprised how well the models translate to the 2d looking artwork. Makes me always wonder how far they could have gone with a cel-shaded visual aesthetic. I suppose 2D models in a fighter that heavily emphasizes 3D movement is counter intuitive, but the 2D art is so good.

yeah i immediately knew something was off about everyone except mitsu and groh. perhaps nightmare and inferno are drawn and not in game models that are traced?

I'm just happy we got something, perhaps the artist had to make it quickly

Setsuka's got a new pose, too, though. At least I don't recognise it from her moveset/in-game animations.

Getting news of any kind for SCVI feels weird. Glad I did my part in supporting the game though. I bought it on PS4 at release, then on Steam when I got a gaming PC (bought the season passes again too). I also encouraged a friend of mine to get the game on PC as well (he literally only bought it to fight me).

Hopefully Soulcalibur VII does something special enough to garner major hype around it. Soulcalibur VI was the first new Soul game in nearly a decade, had Geralt & 2B (two HUGELY popular guest characters), and a character creation mode that big Youtubers (like cr1tikal & dunkey) covered for the meme value, and yet the game was still only a moderate success at the end of the day. Project Soul has to seriously innovate next time.
