Rock General Discussion

I just wanna reiterate... 2B+K is good stuff... it even can beat out kilik's OTG A+K

-LAU

2B+K has to be the dumbest moves in the world when it comes to hitboxes. Linear like crazy. It misses the weirdest things, but hits in the oddest times like this. I will remember this.

So, in preparation for tomorrow's tournament I decided that since I haven't played in weeks I may as well go downtown and hop online for a little bit to see what's what.

Oddest thing happened -- and even though it was online I still found it remarkable -- did command throw vs lizardman against a wall, JF timing (there was the flash), but he teched out of the way. As in, he teched and THEN I let go of B and got the JF flash. Didn't have the time to try and replicate it, but next time I've got access to a system I surely will. If this is real (and I fucking hope it isn't) I will be quite disappointed.

I hope you are wrong. I really do. Then again, I don't use the B command throw anyways.

wall does wonders... i'm not surprised especially with a character like LM or Tira when weird stuff happen to them all the time... chances are it's probably one of those things you'll never see again

Like I said LONG time ago... i remember CFing LM... and next thing i saw was.... LM was rolling around in the background during my CF.... -_-... i can never replicate that again as well.... it looked so weird to the point it's kinda like seeing a ghost after you see it.. you aren't sure if you really saw what you think you saw or you just imagined it.

back to 2B+K.... for what it does... being ultra linear is still good.

Close range game... when you are in frame advantage in whatever ways (after guarding your opponent's negative frame move, them whiffing something that rock can't punish, on wakeup advantage, etc) your most BASIC options but never limited to....

1) 6K - mid mixup/beat them in frames....
2) Throw - throw mixup/beat them in frames/beat their step...
3) 2K - low mixup/ beat them in frames....
4) 2A+K - low mixup/beat their step
5) 2B+K - when they just stand there and guard to anticipate the above options...

the above 5 are the most basic Rock options when he's at advantage... there's other options you can do that's more advance but basics is the most important....

i feel without 2B+K, i feel that the mixup above is a little incomplete...

That works so long as you're not fighting a Taki or Amy. Those stupid whores can mash out of that mix-up. BOOOOO!!!

I use 4B over 6K sometimes. Just preference. Note that 6A on clash will guarantee the A afterwards becuase the clash leaves them at disadvantage. 6A clashes a lot.

as for going against taki/amy... they'll always be tough against rock... if they are too interupt happy with their stupid highs... there's always ways to beat that... a lucky 6K... or 66K or 2A+K is good....

honestly... if you ask me to change ONE thing with rock....

I have lots in my mind like better A-throw damage... or better horizontal mid... or better 4B/6A or something.. but in the end... i think what i really want is Bullrush to not have the bullshit TC frame so fucking late.... i fucking hate it.. when i get AA/thrown out of early frames of bullrush.

====== DOUBLE POST AUTO-MERGE ======
I also wanna add.... i've been using 22B much more nowadays.... i realize i NEED to use it... on wakeup like post bullrush or post ground throw breaks , etc.... yes i know it's possible to get out of it.. but honestly.. who the hell studies anti-rock to know what's the most consistent way to beat it.. and even when they do know it's not hard to counter their solution.

but rock needs the potential massive damage/gauge rape.. as long as the opponent fails to evade/GI it.. you win one way or the other....

-LAU

22B needs to be used not cuz all that garbage Lau just spewed. It needs to be used ONLY cuz it's manly as fucking fuck.

Draco...Use the command B throw.

6B+K = manly = win! :p

but yea, that's fucked up. Are they trying to say the hammer hits them first??? wtf

Draco....use all throws.

I don't get this statement.

The smaller my movelist, the more I can focus on Rock's true movelist. GI, Parry, and Step.

it's really not that big of a deal.. but body attacks > weapon based attacks... when it's a move like 6B+K where the weapon definitely doesn't increase the range....

simply because.. there's certain moves that GI weapon based attacks but not body attacks.. like asura/hilde aGI etc.

NONO. I get that. I don't get what you were saying about 6B+K. Isn't 6B+K a body attack?

that's why i said... 6B+K = fail :(

i THOUGHT it was a body attack.. apparently not.

-LAU

No way... he's freaking hitting him with his hand and HOLDING HIS WEAPON IN THE OTHER HAND!

Edit: I guess Rock's manliness makes even his biceps have weapon properties. Now THAT is manliness.

not really useful but thought this was kinda cool....

recently i found out that 9G and 44K looks kinda similar lol

'Nother Rock player, signing in!

Ah, yes, Page, a.k.a. ReligionLOL, I remember fighting your Rock awhile back. Surprised the hell out of me to run into a good Rock player, had absolutely no idea what to do. Kinda killed my streak there, losing a mirror match like that always ruins my morale... (If you don't remember, I'm probably the only female CAS Rock you've run into in recent memory. >_>;)

But anyways, I wouldn't mind a rematch sometime in the future. What better way to improve your game than to battle yourself, eh?

Yes, I have and do. I still enjoy messing around with her, even though I'm handicapping myself with a character that's already disadvantaged in many situations. Most of the time the difference isn't game-deciding, though.
