I've always wanted a character from Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in Soulcalibur. Oh yes, we already have Lynette from SCIII, who is really cute, but in reality she hasn't too much in common with historical Poland.
It's probably a kind of national pride, but I think polish culture, including the field of edged weapons, in XVIII century was really interesting.
First, there no character in SC, who wield saber. There are a lot of short swords, rapiers or katanas, but no saber. And polish sabers are the best of their kind. Quoting wikipedia: "Sword cutting can be done directly or flywheels with elbow and shoulder, and all the curtains static in defense. It can also perform all the major cuts - both those which give the best western swords, as well as those that can perform only by katanas.". Other option is lance, which was available in SCIII CaS. Belowi s a picture of polish saber:
Second, apperance of polish nobles in SC times. I know they are probably not enough cool and modern to create a simple character on their basis (especially when we compare their to fantasy-like appearances of ZWEI and Viola), but after a few changes and making them "more attractive", they could bring an element of freshness, and kinda of oriental-vibe (Polish nobles borrowed some elements of the costume of the Orient). Just look:
We even have a archetype of fat-nobleman, like someone mentioned before xD
I know, this isn't historical game, but great, weapon based fighting one, but I would prefer a more historical direction, than the fantastic, which Namco Bandai takes.
PS: And yeah, Zulu warrior will be great addition too!
